  1. Measuring is a huge help to me as well. I rarely EVER go beyond 3/4cup per meal. My doctor says I can have 3/4-1 cup. Since my fill, I get that "stuffed" feeling a little quicker and am not pushing it.
  2. Happy to have you back Debbie. Breakfast - 6oz greek yogurt lunch - "chili cheese dog" (1 veggie dog, 1/4 cup chili, 1 tbsp fat free cheddar cheese) snack - 4oz activia dinner - 1/3cup scrambled egg beaters, 2 strips turkey bacon, 2 strawberries Snack - 8oz pineapple juice And lots of water!
  3. I was a fast food addict too. I've saved a lot of money so far by cooking the majority of my meals. When I go out, I look and the menu ahead of time and eat healthy (fish/chicken/veggies) but have also allowed myself a couple bites of dessert or a glass of juice here or there. Not sure when i will be able to handle eating my former favorite foods. I'm trying rewire my brain and not think of treating myself as "cheating" or "failure" cuz that just makes me want to eat MORE. so for me.. That's where it starts.
  4. I need to work on scheduling my meals better. By nature, I'm not a structured person so I'm learning this as I go. Today I has breakfast at 11am, lunch at 4pm and then wasn't hungry for dinner til 10pm. Tomorrow I need to do better at that. I've noticed since my fill, I've had chest aches that kind of hurt.. Idk if that's how hunger pains will feel from now on, or if I need to take small bites, but it sucks. Breakfast - 6oz yogurt Lunch - 3/4 toasted wheat pita with 1 tbsp crunchy Peanut Butter, 1/4cup yogurt with tsp Protein powder Dinner - 1/2 cup beef chili, 2 crackers, diced peaches Exercise - 30 min elliptical
  5. eyewonder - I used lean ground beef for it, but I think turkey would work too. It went down ok, but wasn't the easiest to chew because its kind of crusty on the outside. breakfast - 6oz greek yogurt lunch - 1/3cup ham steak, 1/4cup steamed veggies snack - 8oz milk dinner - 1/2cup rotisserie chicken (no skin), 1/4cup carrots snack - 4oz activia berry yogurt, 1/4 cup strawberries
  6. Mine was a week late the month after surgery.
  7. At this point it's about sheer willpower. You can and you will do this! I'll be honest, day 4 and 5 was the worst (I had to do a 10 day)... But it does get easier once you are only a couple days from surgery. Needless to say watched A LOT of sports and Espn to distract myself. lol! Cry, allow yourself to get frustrated, call the doctor if you need suggestions. Drink water constantly so you're hydrated. Exercise if you have enough energy to, make a list of your motivators, clean your house, look at clothes from non plus size stores online.
  8. Are you exercising regularly?
  9. The needle isnt too bad. I made sure not to look. A bit uncomfortable sensation but not painful at all. Personally I can eat the same foods as before my fill (so far). Just eating them a little slower. Breakfast - 4oz yogurt snack - 8oz skim milk lunch - 1 muffin tin meatloaf, 1/4 steamed veggies, 1 strawberry Snack - 6oz Greek yogurt with 1/4 soy Protein Powder dinner - 1/4 cup mahi mahi, 1/4cup veggies/mashed potato, 1 tbsp cheesecake (went to tony Roma's tonight with my family. Cheesecake was naughty but had TINY amount and overall did well) Exercise - 1hr mall walking, and 45 minutes at the driving range this morning
  10. I'm sure your fill will go just fine. i think my hunger is *slightly* lessened since my fill, and I haven't had any stuck episodes since. Then again I am even MORE paranoid now and am chewing like crazy, avoiding fluffy breads and dry looking meat completely. lol What size band does everyone have? I only have 1cc of Fluid in an 8cc band. The Dr originally put in 3ccs but said that was actually too tight. I have not seen anyone around here that has as little fluid in their band as I do. Hmm.
  11. Hi Johnathan! Congrats on starting your journey towards a healthier you! I was banded a little under 6 weeks ago. Its hard sometimes but I have no regrets. I believe from my seminar to surgery day was 10 months. That's because my insurance co required me to do a 6 month supervised diet to qualify. If you are doing self pay, it will be a lot faster. Whenever you meet with the nutritionist (they will have you schedule that stuff after the seminar) ask what your eating and exercise habits will need to be like after surgery. If possible, starting doing some light exercise now. I was honest about my issues (emotional eating, getting take out daily, being a pop addict) because I wanted a realistic idea of what life would be like on the other side. I would also ask the doctor about potential risks and side effects, recovery, and band adjustments (fills). Wish you all the best!
  12. I can't lie, it's awful. As for the 10lbs, the weight flies off on the liquids. Remember your end goal... It will be worth it!
  13. Breakfast - 6oz peach greek yogurt Lunch - 1 whole wheat pita, w/ ground turkey, tomato sauce, mushrooms and reduced fat cheese as topping Snack - 8oz skim milk dinner - Same as lunch, plus 2 large strawberries Snack - 8oz skim milk No exercise today, but back to it tomorrow.
  14. Wow, 95 lbs. That's a dream come true. Thank you for the encouragement.
  15. I don't think I could survive on that little. I have 6oz-8oz meals, 3x a day. Also 2-3 glasses of skim milk a day (my doctors recommendation). If I want a snack I will have 4 or 6oz of Greek yogurt and don't feel guilty about it. That being said, I only have 1cc in my band, so that may change.
  16. I agree, finding exercise you enjoy helps. Try Zumba, a dance class, swimming, walking outdoors, or a workout DVD at home if that's more comfortable. Buy yourself some cute new running shoes and activewear!
  17. Same thing happening to me. It's only when I try to bend over to that side, or sleep in the fetal position on that side where my port is. It doesn't hurt but feels like a pull.
  18. I just finished my first month! I would say grocery shopping for your Clear Liquids, full liquids, and mushies ahead of time is a good idea. Use a heating pad and take your pain meds/anti nausea those first few days. Do as much walking as you can without overdoing it to help with gas pains and healing. Stay hydrated. follow your doctors orders and do not try progressing to solid foods quicker than they say you can. The #1 hardest thing for me the first month was keeping a positive attitude. My emotions are starting to stabilize now. Lol. If youre like me, you will get so frustrated with those liquids and mushies you'll want to scream. Have family and friends around you and post on here for support! Will be over before you know it.
  19. Congrats! It's a great feeling. Wish you all the best on your journey.
  20. Sleepy one - I will let you know how they turn out! And my heart goes out to you. I have struggled with depression since my early teens due to family problems. It is mostly seasonal now, during winter I have some very dark days. I started seeing a therapist again, because I didn't want my depression to sabotage this lifestyle change. You can always message me if you wanna talk. Eye wonder - The rice went down ok. I chewed everything like crazy. My nutritionist said anything is ok in moderation and they don't want me on zero carb due to my constipation issues. I bought some brown rice to try at home.
  21. It's not a matter of being ashamed or in denial of where you came from. I think many of us feel like who we are on the outside does not match who we are on the inside. So when the outside finally matches the inside, it would be disappointing to have people still view you how they did before. But at the end of the day its not something we can control. Just my take on it anyway.
  22. Aww, I love this question. I have not decided how to reward myself along the way. But when I get to my ultimate goal weight I want to go on vacation to Australia, New Zealand, or Hawaii. Gotta go somewhere with a beach to show off my new body
  23. 4 weeks after surgery.
  24. I started a regular exercise routine about 7 months before my surgery. I was 326 when I started and could barely do 10 minutes on an elliptical. Now at 257 i can do 30 or 40 minutes. I can't wait to see what exercise is like at my goal weight.
