May Bandsters!
Just checking in. I love hearing how well everybody is doing. Everyone's doctors seem to be more aggressive than mine when it comes to fills. I'd be too scared to get 6ccs at one time. Lol. We will see what they do at my next fill on 7/16. I honestly don't want more than 1 or 2ccs put in at a time but I am anxious to see if I have been losing at a good rate How is everyone doing with exercise?

I haven't heard from her at all. Starting to get worried now. Breakfast - 5oz yogurt snack - 12oz tea with Splenda and skin milk lunch - 6oz chili, 2 saltines dinner - 3oz teriyaki chicken, 2oz rice/broccoli Snack - 8oz skim milk Exercise - 35 mins cardio Went to target today for cheap jeans and exercise pants. To my surprise a size 18 jean was falling down my waist. So I got a size 16 even though it's a bit snug, and size XL yoga pants. Woohoo!

Gained Weight And Depressed!
All these liquids and soft foods are not a correct reflection of what life is like with the band. Do not expect to lose any weight for the first 6 weeks (those were my surgeon's words). You are healing, and no doubt have lots of swelling and bloating. I gained 8 lbs right after my surgery despite following my doctors orders to the letter. Don't get down on yourself before you've even started the process. Soon you will begin learning to eat with your band and exercising regularly. That's when the weight will begin to come off.

Lost A Person From Our Family
Wow.... I can relate. Even as a child I was always the fat one in the family growing up. I love my mother but her constant prodding to lose weight (always for superficial reasons) only broke down my self esteem further and fueled my emotional eating as a teenager. Now I am learning to break the cycle and do this for the right reasons! Your story almost brings tears to my eyes because I am so happy for your family. How amazing to be able to get healthy with your loved ones by your side. Thanks for sharing!

Accountability
Just saw your post Lose_it. I know how upsetting a gain feels. But don't get down on yourself. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and we are still on the quest for restriction. I notice some days i have to FORCE myself not to eat everything in sight, and other days I have no desire for food whatsoever. Also, some days my band is very tight and other days I can eat more. Guess its all part of the learning curve. hows your exercise going? Maybe stepping that up will help until you get restriction (i need to take my own advice).

Thank you both. The support means a lot to me. Sleepyone - Don't beat yourself up for not getting it perfect yet. I am struggling with the same thing, figuring out my new meal schedule and recognizing my body;s signals. Still working on a work out routine. I still have occasional chest pains which I will be checking with my Dr about at my fill 7/16. I am not sure if its cuz I eat too fast, too big bites, or something different entirely. Getting my 2nd fill scares me a bit cuz I'm still getting used to the 1st one. lol. What does getting stuck feel like for you? What kind of meat were you eating that got stuck? Some textures don't work as easily for me, like beef or salad. I suggest timing yourself when you eat and the small fork thing! How much Fluid do you have in your band? Have you tried yogurt and a little mushy fruit for breakfast? You're doing great girl. keep it up. breakfast - 5oz greek yogurt lunch - 1/2 arnolds sandwich thin, with turkey, tomato and lettuce, 2oz diced mango snack - 8 oz milk dinner - 3/4 of a mini pita pizza with ground turkey and red peppers on it, fat free mozz cheese, 3 baby carrots with 1 tsp hummus snack - 4oz greek yogurt also had another cup of tea, lots of Water No exercise today.

Small Victory At 2 Months Post Op!
I don't consider myself a "success story" yet, because I have a long way to go until my goal, and a lot to learn. But I wanted to share one way in which my life has completely changed since my weight loss. I stopped going to theme parks about 4 years ago due to being repeatedly turned away from rides because of my size. However, yesterday I went to a theme park for the first time in years and was able to fit on EVERY SINGLE RIDE! I rode a rollercoaster!!! No more panic attack waiting to see if the bar would fit over my stomach or if I could squeeze into the seats. It was a dream come true for me. Here I am yesterday: Little things like this make the hard work worth it.

Thanks so much Breakfast - 5oz yogurt lunch - 1/4 turkey wrap with light ranch, 1 piece of strawberry, 1/2 pickle spear dinner - 1/2 of a chicken taco snack - 10oz mango raspberry smoothie from Ben & Jerrys. I asked for half size so it was only 125 cals vs 250. Was my treat of the week. Lots of Water Walked for a couple hours Today I had a NSV. I went to a THEME Park!!! First time in probably 4 years, and better yet I was able to fit on every single ride. I was careful not to go on rides that put pressure on my port area. I am so happy. Will make a post about this with pictures tomorrow. Thank you all for the encouragement and I hope you all had good weekends

Where is everyone?? I turned 23 today.. July 7. All things considered I think I did ok except I overdid my portion at lunch. I need to be really careful. I can't do more than 3/4c. Breakfast - 6oz mango greek yogurt Lunch - 1 mini pita pizza (1/4c ground turkey, fat free cheese and red pepper topping), 1/4c mango. I was STUFFED after eating this, which is weird cuz I could eat that portion no problem a couple weeks ago (and that was AFTER my fill). Never again! dinner - 1/3 whole wheat wrap from Jason's deli (turkey, tomato, mixed greens, light ranch). 1/4 pickle spear and 1 strawberry. Lots of Water Exercise - 30 min mall walking

Ever Eat When You're Not Hungry, To Reach Protein Goal?
Ok thank you for the input ladies. I do have some protein powder but rarely use it... Guess I'll start by putting a little in my breakfast. I never overdo it with my portions especially with my protein snack, but I don't wanna get in the habit of eating mindlessly, so I gotta get myself in check. I am also going to discuss this with the doctor at my next fill. I guess I'd rather be under my protein goal than eating when I'm not hungry..

Ever Eat When You're Not Hungry, To Reach Protein Goal?
I am just curious if I'm the only one who does this? I eat 3 mostly Protein meals a day (3/4cup-1cup), plus 1 or 2 glasses of skim milk a day (my doctor's recommendation). Lately I STILL have to have 1 high protein snack a couple hours after dinner just to reach my 70g protein goal. i know as bandsters we are supposed to be very aware of our hunger and not eat just for the sake of it, but I need to have a snack in the evening to get enough protein in (protein shakes make me ill so I go for greek yogurt), and then I feel guilty. Am I crazy? lol

Last Supper B4 Pre-Op Diet?
I spent the last couple weeks before my pre-op diet eating my way through town. Literally. Pizza, burgers, pancakes, french fries, burritos, etc. I don't recommend it, because personally I think it made the mental cravings worse. But my last supper was lemonade, chicken wings, steak with mashed potatoes, and a brownie with ice cream.

May Bandsters!
LOL, being on liquids again gave me flashbacks of the dreaded pre op diet. Hang in there!

New Bandster & Going On A Cruise - Tips?
I went on a cruise a month after my surgery. Like above posters said, remember water and walk as much as you can. Since you have no restriction you should be fine, but don't try anything new on the cruise just in case you get sick. That was my biggest fear. For breakfast I stuck to yogurt, eggs, and banana. The buffet usually has some healthy options like fruit, deli meats, and fish. the hardest thing for me on the cruise was avoiding all the fruity cocktails! My weakness. lol

WOW! You look great! Congrats.

Emotional
Your post reminds me of my own pre op diet. I remember going to the mall on day 4 of liquids. I became so overcome with emotion I had to run out to my car. I just kept sobbing and repeating "I'm so hungry". LOL. Now I am 2 months post op and I see how much power food had/has over me. Every day it gets a little easier.

Have You Gone Back???
I have gone to several restaurants with family (I just order grilled chicken, fish, veggies) but I don't think I can go to my favorite restaurants yet. Emotionally, it's still hard for me and I'm scared of my triggers. I have avoided all fast food spots except for Wendy's where I only get a small chili.

Thanks for sharing Cortney. It takes a lot of strength to get back up after you fall. I'm sure everything you learned will help you be a success.

Alone
It sounds like your bf is very misinformed. Take him to a seminar and on your doctor's appointments. I had a couple people tell me this was the "easy way out" too. They have no idea. There isnt a moment in the day i dont have to say "no" to myself and resist temptation. I have to force myself to get up and exercise. I am sure many of us would say this is the most difficult thing we have ever done. At the end of the day you have to do what is best for you, so that you can be around for your family. I know I could not have gone through this process without positive people in my corner. Hopefully your bf will come around, because you will need the support.
