  1. I was banded march 2010 and slipped. I was going to have revision March 2014 but the week before surgery my Dr called me in and said he had done a lot of research and wanted to remove the band in 1 surgery and wait 2 months to so the sleeve. I had the band removed March 2014, let my stomach heal and had the sleeve May 6, 2014. Today I am 4 weeks out and I am down 12lbs. I am kind of stressing that i'm not loosing faster but if it helps with skin sag I will be ok with that. I was 240 when banded, 210 when band removed, 220 at start of pre-op and 210.5 day of sleeve surgery. Today I am 198. I had no complications but the 1st week I regretted it because I felt I was going to poop FOREVER! Today I can truly say I am very glad I did this surgery and can't wait to get back to the gym in 2 weeks! I would love to keep in touch with you since our dates are so close!

  2. Thanks to all of you for your posts. I was banded March 2012 and had esophageal dilation last December and a slip this December. I saw the surgeon today and he said I would need to have it removed but since I have no symptoms now that the band is empty, I can keep it in place for 6 months while I do the medically guided diet (in other words, weigh in with a Dr for 6 months for insurance purposes). In the year and 9 months that I have had the band I have lost 40 lbs and that's all! I am interested in having a sleeve revision but I have blue cross blue shield insurance and because i lost 40lbs with the band my bmi is no longer 40 and I am being told insurance will not cover the revision. They will cover the removal because of complications but not the revision. I am scared, upset, heartbroken and feel like a failure. Please give me all the advice you have.

  3. i'm struggling....help! I only have 5.8cc's and the dr keeps taking a tee tiny bit out and then giving me a little bit more because i gurgle all the time. My weight loss has halted in fact i gained 2lbs last time i went :( Do yall think I should start the preop diet to trick my body, get everything removed and start over, advice? It's only been 7 months. I had a barium swallow and i have slight esophageal dilation but not enough for the dr to be worried. i will go today to have a little more removed because of that. HELP!

  4. i was banded 3-13 and got my first fill this past tuesday. i found out that i was given 4cc's at surgery and they topped it off with 1cc at my first fill. it is sunday night and i am still having a hard time keeping anything solid down. I even have trouble with blended Protein and banana shakes. before i got the fill i felt great and could eat almost anything....chicken, steak, nuts, etc. but now i feel pretty bad just because i'm hungry and can't keep anything down. Is this normal for a first fill? I didn't go back on Friday to get some taken out because I thought I just needed to adjust but I thought I would feel better by now. HELP!!!!

  5. Hey Goosie17....be patient. I know its hard, but you are only 2 weeks post-op. I'm only 1 week postop I have only lost 5 pounds but I know I still am retaining Water too. Theses few few weeks need to be about giving our bodies what it needs to heal. And because we are on a liquid/puree/mushie diet, most of our foods will be coming from carbs. When you get the green light to eat "real" food, then I would suggest you cut back on your carbs. Diabetics must keep their carbs at no more than 125. I was keeping mine at no more than 50 b4 surgery and would like to return to that when I see real food again. My body works nicely at 800cal/60+protein/40carb. I was loosing about a pound a day. But thats me....you should speak with your surgery teams to see what they think. Was your PA for your general practioner or for your surgeon?

    Hey waitingpatiently,

My PA was for my surgeon. She will be the one doing all of my fills and what not. Thanks for the tips

  6. Hey All-

I was banded March 13th. I never had any port site pain and actually thought it was on the left side under my rib cage but found out it's really the largest incision site closer to my belly button. Anyways, I am having a little pain now and notice it starts hurting at the very end of my day when I'm tired....maybe it's letting me know it's time to rest! Has anyone else experienced this? Also, all of my incision sites are flat and flush to the skin but the port site is concaved and kind of looks like a big dimple in my stomach....ideas on this?

    Thanks!

  7. Hi All

Just wondering about your carb intake 2 weeks post op. I am getting anywhere from 65-100g of carbs a day and I feel this may be a little high. I have an email into my nutritionist but I wanted to hear from yall. I'm also getting around 60-75g of Protein a day. I was getting about 75-100g of Protein a day but the PA told me that was too much since I'm not working out yet. With this said I cut back on the Protein shakes but when I did that the weight halted....HELP! I'm freaking out that this is not going to work. I am 2 weeks post op and I have only lost 11lbs :(

  8. Stay with the unjury for the chicken Soup flavor and the plain, since I think their PLAIN is much more PLAIN than the others I have found. But I use Body Fortress (walmart) they have strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, Cookies and creme, and Peanut Butter chocolate all very good and run $14.95 to 19.95 depending on the concentrate or isolate version. 21 servings per container. Also no shipping fees, so considerable savings.

the only other flavors i have tried by Unjury are chicken soup and unflavored. i looove the choc splendor but i'm killing it! ill try body fortress. thanks!

  9. Hi all- i was also banded on 3-13-12 and i'm doing great! i came home that day and the dr wouldn't give me my meds before so my mom had to run around town getting them for me. The pharmacy i go to didn't have the pain medicine so she had to come home, get my insurance card and go to another pharmacy, she was gone for a long time and i had some dry heaving spells from not having pain medicine when i needed it. once i got the medicine i was fine. I dry heaved about 4 times the day of surgery which freaked me out because i was afraid i would slip the band....i think i'm fine ;) i hope your dr's can give you your rx's before so you don't have this issue. I haven't had any gas pains until today in my left shoulder. I really think the dry heaving "helped" me get a lot of the gas out. The tape they used to cover my incisions gave me blisters so i was instructed to take them off....i have 21 staples and they don't look bad at all. I go this coming tuesday for my post op appt and the dr said he would remove the staples!! I am eating 1/2 cups of Jello at a time, 4oz silk light with 1/2 scoop of choc Unjury Protein 2 times a day but i think i'm going to up my dinner shake to 8oz. it takes me about 30 min to drink the 4oz shake. so glad yall are all on here talking! Question, do yall have any pain near your chest and breathing problems? sometimes i feel i can't catch my breath and other forums said it was a feeling like i was 9 months pregnant and had no room for anything.

  10. As I stated before, I was banded on march 13th. The night before I went to a support group and everyone in there was gastric and bashing the band.....awful way to go into surgery but I want to prove them wrong! My question, when will the pressure I feel near my diaphragm and chest bone go away?

  11. I need help y'all. I'm scheduled for march 13th and had to do 2 weeks low carb which I feel I have done HORRIBLE at and the day before I have to do liquid. I think I've done so bad because the dr called to see if I wanted to go last Tuesday and told me I didn't need to do pre op. Do y'all think I should start liquid now since I feel I'm doing so bad on low carb? I feel I am already failing.....pre op
