    Let The Games Begin

I just broke my first stall. It lasted Weeks 3-5. I ended up breaking it by eating about 200 more calories per day. Drink tons of water. Don't weigh everyday. Make sure you're rating enough calories (to prevent your body from going into "starvation mode"). And focus on the wonderful changes you are making in you're life. The weight will come off. It practically has to!

    3 Weeks Out

Sick, Fat, and Nearly Dead is an awesome movie! So are my green smoothies! I'm 6 Weeks post op and haven't had any yet... I think it's time to try! I stalled Weeks 3, 4, and 5. It actually took an increase in calories to break it.

    It's Monday Motivation Time!

Don't give up what you want the most for what you want in the moment.
  4. I was surprised at how well I recovered as well. I only took my pain meds three times. I'm glad things are going so well for you! Don't overdo it, though. Listen to your body. If you're tired, sleep (or at least sit). Drink all the liquids you can stand. Welcome to the otherside!

LOL I did indeed say that. I, of course, meant the opposite. My body is *losing* instead of *gaining*.

I'm about 6 weeks, too. When I first started tracking I found I was getting 900-1000 calories per day. I also stalled third and fourth week. After a lot of reading, I decided to bump up to 1000-12000 per day. Then I finally lost. I don't think it's too many calories. And my body is gaining, instead of losing, so I think my body agrees that I needed a few more calories...

  8. Yes, it was at Tallgrass, with Dr. Bernsten. My grandpa had the band, and he had to have it done at St Francis. I don't know who his doctor was...

    Kansas City Area Sleevers?

I've heard that lots of meetings can be restricted to patients only... I'm in LS. I'm certainly interested. Anyone else?
  10. Are you in a place where you eat the same thing at meals? Do you have time to be in charge of the planning/shopping/preparing? When my husband is left to his own devices, he usually will not make the best choices. But if I take all of the work out of it for him, he does better. We've also started walking the dog together. He used to do it on his own (when I was too lazy to join), but would only go for very short walks - just long enough to let the dog do his business. Since I have joined him, we are all taking longer walks. Hope this helps!

    Kansas City Area Sleevers?

Resurrecting an old post... Anyone go to support group meetings? I had my surgery in Topeka, but live in Lees Summit. I'm wondering if there are any meetings around here I can go to.

    Food Makes Me Sleepy...

It happens to me too! My husband thinks it's hilarious!! I think I was considered pre-diabetic, preop. Not sure about now. I haven't paid attention to if it happens after protein only meals... Glad I'm not the only one, though.

Is A Two Week Stall Normal?

I lost about 13lbs in the first 2 weeks. I haven't lost anything since. I'm almost at 5 Weeks. It's hard not to freak out. I'm not exercising yet. And I'm not getting in quite add much water as I should. People are telling me that the first month or two can sometimes just be really crazy. Sometimes our bodies just freak out, and don't react the way they we think they should. But I'm going to focus on water, and I'm going to start slowly adding exercise. And I'm going to try and keep my freak outs to a minimum. Good luck to both of us!

    Stomach Stretch

I am totally guilty of eating shortly after I eat... I get hungry so quickly! Am I the only one?
  18. My first confession, and it's a doozy. I was able to eat an entire bag (that's 7 servings!) of Combos today. It was open, and in front of me, and I just ate one or two every so often. oh dear...
  19. It might depend on the type. Are yours dairy based? Thick/heavy? There are some that can be mixed with water and are light and easy on the tummy.
  20. Hello! I've just signed up with myfitnesspal and am working on setting up my goals. I'm one month post op. I am aiming for 1000 calories a day, as that seems to be the average amount needed to prevent a stall. Does anyone have any advice on the percentage of calories that should come from protein, fat, and carbs? I'm not looking for a crazy low amount of carbs, and I do believe that we need enough healthy fats. Any recommendations?

Thanks so much for the info! I'm going to set those as my goals on myfitnesspal!

    F'ing Hormones >:(

My skin broke out badly a few Weeks post op. I called my doctor and she write me a script for generic BenzaClin gel. I've used it before, and it worked this time just like it had in the past. I highly recommend it!
