  1. I would actually recommend you track everyday (or at least 5-6 days per week) for up to a year. It can be very surprising how off we can be when it comes to nutrition info and portion sizes!

Ok Everyone, What Did You Buy?

The above post reminds me of the meal that I absolutely lived off of during my full liquids phase... My mother in law made a big ol' container of an awesome cream of tomato soup (I don't have the recipe...but anything similar would work). I would mix that with cottage cheese. I know it sounds weird. But it increased the amount of protein per serving. It really kept me full (which can be hard to achieve during the liquid-y stages), so I thought I'd share. I'm 3 months out now. I still use my Blender Bottle every single day, with my Syntrax Nectar protein powder. And I still use my tiny food storage containers. I couldn't live with my crockpot... Once a week we fill it full of skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs. I also love my FitBit and myfitnesspal.

    When Did You Try Salad?

I had a summer roll a week or so ago. I'm at 12 Weeks now. Basically the same as salad. Full of lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and shrimp. I chewed well, and it went down fine.
  4. A stall is not necessarily a bad thing. It happens for a reason. Your body is going through major changes, and sometimes it needs to stall in order to keep healthy. Just because the numbers on the scale aren't dropping doesn't mean that other positive things aren't happening inside your body. Focus on keeping up your calories (don't try and starve your way out of a stall), eat plenty of protein, and drink plenty of water. Then, like emily said above, just move on. Let your body do what it needs to do. Be happy. Be peaceful. Be grateful.

    I Am So Pathetic. :(((

Oh lordy. I did that more than once during my liquid phase!

    Let Me Hear Your Nsv

Me too! I have cheekbones under all this face fluff! Also, I jogged up the stairs this morning without a second thought. And I didn't even huff and puff afterwards!

    Seriously People?

rizabonita and kellythestar That was just straight up negative. I think the op brings up a good point. I often find it EXTREMELY demoralizing to read the "I've only lost 50lbs in 2 months, what's wrong with me?" posts. They make me feel like a failure. She's not trying to make anyone feel bad. She may be pointing out that some people's expectations aren't based on reality...

    Life In Moderation

I can relate. I get so frustrated hearing people say that no one should eat more than 800 calories a day postop. No, my weight isn't flying off the way others might be. But I am, for the first time in my life, finding some level of peace where food is concerned. I focus on eating what is most beneficial for my body. As long as I do that most of the time, I don't think twice about a cookie or a small scoop of ice cream. I didn't gain this weight overnight. I won't lose it overnight.

    1000-1400 Cal/day At 3 Months Post Op

I'm 10 Weeks post op. My doctors office did one of those body composition scans on me, then told me I should be eating around 1500 calories a day if I want to lose weight. Now, that would only be possible if I ate crap all day... At this point I can eat about 3-4 Oz of food at a time. If I plan out what I eat and ignore cravings, I can hit around 1200 calories a day. I stalled for almost a month at 1000 a day. I don't subscribe to the belief that I had this surgery to starve my body for the rest of my life. I also don't subscribe to the belief that because I eat 1200 calories now it means I'll eat 2400 calories a year from now. I seem to be alone in this thought process, though...

When Did You Return To Work?

I went back to work one week later. I sit at a desk all day. You can drive when you are no longer on narcotics. I only took two doses of my meds after leaving the hospital, once two days after and another on the 3rd or 4th day (I couldn't sleep). I also never had to take any anti-nausea meds after leaving the hospital. I'm 27 and have no other medical complications. I font have any kids, either (no one else to take care of).

    Are You A Chugger?

Today is my day of double posts...

    Are You A Chugger?

I can chug. sort of. I can do about 4 or 5 swallows in one go. Sometimes it hurts, like it gets stuck. But I just stop drinking, and it passes.

    Protein Problems

    Sorry for the double post...

    Protein Problems

I wouldn't write off lactose free shakes just yet. Pretty much everything I "ate" for the first few Weeks gave me diarrhea. That said, I would still call your doctor. Also, I'm at 8 Weeks and can eat roughly 2-3 oz of meat in one serving.

    Activity After Sleeving?

I rode at about 10 days post op. No harmful effects felt or seen.

Ok Everyone, What Did You Buy?

Variety pack of single serving Syntrax Nectar pouches. Ditto ProtiZyme and Bariatric Advantage. A Blender Bottle. Carnation dry milk powder (to up the protein in soft foods). Tons of Eddy's Low Sugar popsicles. Itty bitty food storage containers (to transport my comically tiny food portions to work). A pillow pet to use as belly protection. I would place it over my belly when I slept so that my cat wouldn't climb on my sore belly. I also placed it between my belly and the seatbelt whenever I was in the car. I saved up chicken bones and skin and used that to make my own broth, which is what I lived off of the first week post op. I already had one, but I highly recommend and blender stick. I checked out a ton of books from the library on wls. My favorite was "It Ain't Over 'til the Thin Lady Sings." I bought a huge pack of baby spoons. Never used them... I'm getting a fitbit as a reward for meeting my first goal. But boy I wish I'd had one from day one!

    1200 Calories?

I just went to the doctor for my 6 week check up. They did a body composition analysis. I was told to eat around 1500 calories a day for weight loss. I said that seemed like a lot, and asked if I could go with closer to 1200. She said it was fine, but if I stall again then I should think about eating more. Here's the deal though. We're all different. Different ages, different amounts of muscle, etc. Everyone needs to take responsibility for their own health and, with the help of their medical team, figure out what works on an individual basis.

    Insomnia?

I didn't sleep very well the first 1-2 Weeks post op. It was very uncomfortable. I had to take my liquid codeine a time or two just to get some rest. Since then, I sleep like a baby. Before the surgery I was such a light sleeper. I always woke up a few times a night to pee. Now I might wake up once. It's one of the best unexpected side effects, for me.

    Everything Vitamin

I did a vlog about what all I take! The link is below, in my sig. As for the question of why some if us take B12... Iron, folate, and B12 are common deficiencies for wls patients. Makes sense, considering we eat so little. My doctor requires her patients include B12 in their supplement regime.
  21. But we don't have a "pouch". Would this still work for us?

    How Much Can You Eat?

Lunch was 2oz chicken and less than 1/8 of Shelly's Cauliflower Pie (theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com). PM Snack was one hardboild egg and one of those small Cuties oranges. I was sleeved 3/14.
