I am going to Dr. Garcia on May 7th and it is a good decision for you so don't worry about what one jerk says.

Do not let someone else talk you out of being healthy and having a much needed procedure for your future. This is necessary. If you do not have the surgery and do not lose all the weight they will be watching you slowly die and not even realize it.

Probably. It is a scary thing. I can only imagine the feeling of doing something permanent. It will all be fine and the scale going down will soften any thoughts of regret. Congratulations.

There is a surgery call gastric plication that sort of ties the stomach back to form a sleeve. It does not take the hunger away but does give you the illusion of a sleeve and is reversable. It can cause some issues though with infection and things getting caught and causing serious problems. You can google gastric plication and look at youtube for it.

What is bothering you so much about it? I want to know so I know what to expect. Tell me about your experience.

My BCBS of Alabama would not take weight watchers. They said it had to be a doctor monitored weight loss and it had to be in my medical records in the last 6 months. They said letters would not help. They also said my BMI had to be over 40. They are so picky who knows what they will do. I am going to Mexico instead.

Wouldn't getting the sleeve be a backwards move from the bypass procedure? Isn't the bypass rerouting the digestion bypassing the stomach all together and going straight to the intestines? I just want to make sure I am understanding what the procedure is.

I wouldn't panic. When they approved the surgery they entered into a contract with the surgeon to pay for it. They will bicker back and forth about what will be paid and you should only have to pay what you originally would have paid.

My suggestion would be to increase your protein to 70 to 90 grams a day. That will speed up the weight loss.

purees are considered full liquids I believe. As long as it is the consistency of a protein shake.

I will be on a clear liquid diet for one week after surgery then full liquids. I think that is pretty normal.

This is the reason I am choosing not to tell people. If they have never been through being overweight than they do not know what is hard and what is not. I will only disclose my surgery to people that I can fully trust and no one else. It is a private thing that no one needs to know about. Stupid people are all over the world and they will say stupid things. I prefer not to give them the ammunition to piss me off.

Some surgeons like Dr. Kelly do not use drains. Your body will absorb and release the fluid naturally. The drains are not something you have to have but can be helpful with the swelling.

They will get smaller. We are so short we have to lose weight in all the right places lol. We will get our sexy skinny leg boots and we will look good

I have the same issue with short fat legs. I am also 5'2" and have no legs. I cannot wait until I can wear sexy tall boots like all the other girls born with legs lol.
