  1. I'm wondering... Have you been on meds before surgery and are in withdrawal? Withdrawal headaches are a pain. Literally.

    Question On Pureed Meat

I've stuck to beans and cheese as a replacement for pureed meat. Works fine for me.

    Antidepressants After Surgery

I am on a few meds for depression, ptsd, and migraines. The evening of surgry I was taking my meds and I have not had to crush tabs or go on liquids. My surgeon said it was super important to stay on meds and referred me back to my psychiatrist. My psych said surgery was not the time to mess with meds and has kept me on my meds the same as the day before surgery. 20 weeks out and I am stable on meds. Please find a good resolve to the med problem that does't include stopping. I've neer been happier.
  4. I take more than a few meds daily. I asked about how soon after surgery could I resume meds. (I have a few meds for depression and ptsd. Important to not skip.) I asked about failure rate... about surgery failure and about people continuing to lose weight after surgery, if they continue on plan. There is a difference. Asked about recovery time to get back to normal activities and how long before I could start exercise. I asked if he likes to do surgery, a greatway to get an idea about the guy behind the knives. And every time I see him, even before the actual surgery date, I ask for words of encouragement. He is great about encouraging me. Gives me something new to think about every time I walk away from the appointment. Good luck. I feared more than was necessary. I've been more pleased with my decision for surgery than I ever imagined.

    Will I Ever Feel Hungry?

20 weeks out and still no hunger. I gurgle a little sometimes. But it is nothing like hunger pangs. I set my watch to alarm at meal times for awhile so I wouldn't forget to eat. I get as little woosey if I forget. Good luck on your journey to a healthier body and spirit.

    Help.....

Wow! Sorrry you are having these difficulties. I've only thrown up twice in 20 weeks. Not a good feeling. Can I ask... what is your doctor saying about all this? Is she/ he aware of your problems? My nutritionist has made all the difference to me. She has alot of answers to my sticking points about food and related problems. Do you have a nut? Good luck. You are in my thoughts.

    Dining Out Depression

I have trouble going out to resturants. I tend to want to eat what is on my plate. And I am embarrassed to ask someone to share a meal with me. I'll have to try ordering a to go box at the same time I order my meal. I am at 20 weeks out and I eat comfortably about 4 ounces of food. If I eat a salad Ifind I don't get enough protein. I pretty much stick to a small list of acceptable foods that I wrote up. Seems to be working good for me.

Hey Guys! Been Missing You! Lol

Luv your attitude and your posting. The only sugar I consume is the fruit at the bottom of chobani greek yogurt. Feel so good 20 weeks out. (Wow! just realized it has been only 20 weeks out.) Do you feel like it has been longer then your actual time? I feel like it has been forever since surgery.

    Do you have a scale?

I have a working scale now. I have a bit of an obsession with weighing myself. I know my weight from the morning before, I weigh myself in the middle of the night, and then I weigh myself in the morning again. Weighing myself in the middle of the night gives me a mental boost for how the morning weigh-in will be. It is silly, but that's me right now. Hope this helps.

Scared: What If This Is As Good As It Gets?

I am so sorry you are frightened right now. The weight will come off. It can't not. You do not have a choice. You have so little tummy left. That's what I've been told at times of fear like this myself. And it is coming off even though I can't get out to excersize yet. I am looking to replace my knees also. This is my primary goal in my new health. You can do this. I know you can. And so can I.

Anyone 5'6 And 300 Lbs When They Started?

5'6 and 320 was my starting point. weighed 272 this morning 7 1/2 weeks post surgery. I do not regret the discision a bit.
  12. Like BigCraig I wrote down the reasons for my surgery. At this time, 7 weeks since surgery, I don't need to look back at the list. I remember the reasons all too well. And I don't regret the surgery one bit. You are courageous for the decision you've made. Don't let a little, a lot, of fear dissuade you. I soooo believe you will look back at this time and smile. Keep your head held high my friend. You are obviously an intelligent woman. Believe in your choice and move on with grace!

    Crackers?

I tried crackers at about 4 weeks out. I ate two with some canned salmon. They went down no problem. Then that night I scarfed down 7 crackers without thinking about it...and the next night. I decided that crackers are a trigger. No more crackers for me whether they go down easy or not. Sorrry. Not much of an answer.

    7 Weeks Post-Op - Some Thoughts...

Interesting to hear your experience at 7 weeks. I am still on soft foods at 5 weeks. I think I should be further along than I am. I don't know exactly where that should be... I am so enthused for you! Having a great time rocking those smaller sizes. I feel better for having read your input. Thanks!

    Need Some Encouragement

At 5 weeks out I know I did the right thing. I feel full very easily so the nutritionist and doc said to take it slow. I am still on cottage cheese, refried beans and the like. Sometimes I feel I should be ahead of where I am at. But I know I am where I should be. Remember we do not judge our inside by someone's outside.
  19. Reading all these uplifting entries, I've stopped a moment to re-evaluate. 320-290=30 lbs in six weeks. Not a bad thing. Still working at that 64 ounce of water a day. Keep up the good work my friends. It does work if we work at the directions given to us. yah-hooooo!
  20. Glad the headaches are gone. I had them for almost 3 weeks. Now my headache (lol) is getting in my meds, eating and drinking on schedule. But STILL losing weight! I am under 290. And don't anticipate gaining!
  21. I have to admit that when I am more faithful to the 60-70 ounces of water a day I do seem to move downward on the scale. It just happened today! Thanks for the words of encouragement. They mean alot

  23. Had my surgery on 2/2/2012. No problems recovering but am a bit down now that I am 4 weeks out. Weight loss has slowed down to nothing. Anyone having this difficulty? How about a word of encouragement? Keep going everyone. No turning back!
