  1. Yes, less that 3 weeks away...i'm excited! I hope the insurance approval process is easy as well!!! Good luck to you sleeve sister!!!
  2. Hi, I had the same problem with my psych eval. They actually told me that if the doctor approved me for surgery, than the appt. WOULDN'T be covered by insurance. They too wanted $350. I ended up calling about 15 different psych offices and finally got one that would do it for $100! She didn't have me take any tests or anything. She just asked me questions (about 30 mins) about what kind of support I had at home, basically to make sure I was ready. She faxed the clearance the next week! I would suggest calling around to different offices. GOOD LUCK!!

  6. Good Morning All, I have been reading everyone's posts and getting some really good information from you all. I love that there is a place where people understand my decision, and don't judge me. Yes, some of my family have told me that the sleeve wasn't a good idea, but like most of you all...i'm doing it for ME and MY CHILDREN, no one else. I have a 5 year old daughter (will be 6 in feb) and a 18 month old little boy. Both my 2 sisters and father have diabetes and high blood pressure. Currently, I just have high blood pressure, but with my family history, diabetes is on its way. I have been overweight for a most of my life. I am 26 years old, and my BMI is 41. I started my journey in October and decided to go with the sleeve. I have heard stories about the lap band, and my mother-in-law had the bypass years ago. I chose the sleeve because of the benefits and the complications seem to be minimal compared to the bypass. I am excited about my new life ahead of me! I spoke with my rep from the surgeons office, and she told me that my insurance approved me for the surgery, so its really happening!!! Everything is happening so quickly. I'm excited, and nervous at the same time. Reading everyone's posts daily gave me the encouragement I needed to make this decision. I want to personally thank EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU who took time out to talk about your experience. I'm sure a lot of us appreciate your stories . ***And can someone please help me with the ticker. I haven't figured out how to install it to my profile yet.*****
  7. Thanks ladies... It took about 3 days to hear back from the insurance company. I'm so excited, but nervous at the same time.
  8. I am so happy for you!!! Congrats again on your journey to "Onederland"
  9. Thank you for your support!!! I am excited about this. My grandmother was on dialysis as well so I know how draining that is. I have two children (a 5 year old girl, and a 18 month little boy) and I want to be able to live a full and healthy life for them. I have an appt to see the pulmonary doctor tomorrow, and my psych eval on the 6th of December. I scheduled my cardiac appt for January 5th, so everything is moving along! Can't wait for my new lifestyle, and to be able to feel good about myself when i'm in public. I will keep everyone updated on my progress.
  10. Hi, I am the new girl! . I just decided to get the sleeve after months of debating. On thing that really helped me with my decision was this website! I have been on here for a couple months now reading everyone's post about their personal stories and can't wait to start mine. I have been overweight for a while now and I have high blood pressure. Both my older sister and father have Type 2 diabetes, and I don't want to be next. I just initially went to see my surgeon last week, and he seems to feel that if i get my pre op appointments done in the next month, I may be able to have the procedure at the end of January!
