  1. Congratulations on your surgery decision! However ypu explain this tonyoir children, make sure it is nothing but the truth. I have daughters 10 and 18 and a son 19. Open discussion with the older 2, but my discussion with the tounger one was just that "the doctor is going to do a special surgery to help me get healthier." as for the liquid diet before surgery, she undwrstood that that was just necessary before surgery, and the way i eat now is to help me get healthy.

  2. I havent forgotten about t, but didntake 1 too many bites of something really tasty, and had to endure massive chest pain for about 10 minutes before it finally got where it was supposed to be! I think old eating habits of "just one more bite - it tastes so good!" kicked in, but ibsure learmed a lesson - STOP WHEN FULL! And not even one bite more!

  3. Im loving this thread! Lewanda you are a beautiful girl, and rhis weight loss tool will help you get to where you can be as healthy as you are beautiful! My heaviest was 386, and i was 359 on surgery day. That was a week and a half ago - not going to weigh until my 2 week check up next week. Better thimg await us - and im thankful for this weightloss tool! Good luck!!

  4. Wow. 0.o

I seriously never had a complex like those. The only thing that comes to mind is me riding my motorcycle. Fat guy on a little bike. Other than that people dont bother me. They just hate on me cause I am a privileged character. Everyone hates on people who got.

In my experiences watching people' date=' people tend to trade off. Meaning once you fit in that car, amusement ride, motorbike, hollister clothes you start another complex like my skin sags, im wrinkly, and so on. Its in everyones best interest to keep what I am saying in mind to avoid this from happening to you.

Good luck on breaking the cycle[/quote']

What does that mean, a priviledged character?

  5. I can't wait to go shopping for clothes in the same stores as my normal weight friends. I will also enjoy being able to try on clothes and ask for their opinions instead of simply being the friend that sits outside the changing rooms to say "that looks good" to every outfit my friends model.

I also will be so excited to be able to go in a normal size bathroom stall without basically standing on the toilet to be able to close the door.

I will also will enjoy when I can order food and not have to worry about people thinking "she is going to eat ALL of that?" or "no wonder why she is so big"

    I'm sure I will have many more to post later <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

All of this sounds like my story! Good luck to you!

  6. I know my dr requires the 2 wk liquid diet and I know the reason but wouldn't something like the Atkins or South Beach diet essentially do the same thing? I know tons of weight can be lost on low carb diets and wouldn't that do the same thing to shrink your liver or am I totally off? It seems cruel and unusual punishment to put us overweight folks on a totally liquid diet PRE surgery. LOL

My doctor has me on the liquid diet for 2 wks pre-op to shrink the liver. I had my choice of whatever Protein drinks i wanted to use as ling as the numbers match up with dictor requirements. I picked atkins drinks. If you have solid foods during this time the liver is affected by that.

  7. I'm on day 5 of my pre-op' date=' surgery is in 4 days.

I've been super duper tired. And weak. I worked this week, but I have a desk job, so it was ok. I always saved my last Protein shake of the day until I got home. Walking the 6 block to my car just wiped me out. Then driving, my arms just felt so stinkin heavy.

My husband has been great, he would take care of the kids and get them supper while I laid down for half an hour every day after work. Last night, though, he was really tired, so I gave the kids their baths. I was totally dead after that. Just so weak.[/quote']

I know that feeling! Every muscle in my body feels weak! Just lifting my purse feel like a huge task. I've been on the liquid diet for 11 days and it really has made me weak. I'll be so glad when i get the surgery done and get to have creamy soup! I have 6 more days to surgery. Good luck!!

  8. Anyone else a binge eater? Maybe that's not the right word but I'm hungry all the time and can't eat just 1 bowl of cereal...I was raised that way...I watched my mom gain to almost 350 lbs and my estranged dad is really big too...

I grew up having to eat all on my plate or not eat until the next day...luckily I could hide food I didn't like so much in my napkin and flush it after dinner BUT it was still alot of food...

Did the surgery help with anyone's food addiction?

I'm set on doing it but alot of people bring me down and make me feel like a loser for doing it. My sister in law is larger (and a closet binger) and I see her son sneaking food and he's a large boy already...I hate to think he is going to grow up like me : (

My in-laws are all for it as they've both had weight issues...but we are also all food lovers

Im right there with ya - always large amounts for me with everything i eat. So many have said the desire to keep eating is gone after surgery. A good friend had bypass and has lost 200 pounds in 1 year - says he has absolutely no interest in junk food anymore, and the eating is very easy to control. Im banking on hos stories and those of others that ive read. Another friend of mine had her surgery 2 weeks ago today, and got tongonto solids today! She said she ate a half of a cheese enchilada and was full! My surgery is in 1 week. Good luck!

  9. My BMI wae 65, so my surgeon put me on an all liquid diet - Protein Shakes - for 2 weeks prior to my upcoming surgery date. My friend has the same surgeon, had her surgery last week, and only had to replace 1 meal per day with the liquid diet. Her BMI was 45, and the only time she had to do all liquid was for the 24 hours prior to her surgery. I've lost 17 pounds after 4 days on the all liquid. Im so hungry!! I hope this feeling passes soon! I love reading all these posts about everyone's journey - didnt realize there were so many of us out there taking this step!
