    How Are You Working Out?

Oh most certainly!! I called my dr. last week, and asked when I could start to exercise, and they told me to go for it. My nurse in fact said that I may feel some pain near my incisions, but not to panic, just if I feel I've had enough, listen to my body. My legs are very strong, always have been...My main area I need to concentrate on is my stomach....such a round apple!!!!
  3. Oh Dr. Pepper!!!! SHEW....that was the love of my life pre op! I havent had even a sip in over a month, and I don't miss it at all. I crave water. And when I want flavor, I just add a Hawaiian Punch packet, the no sugar added...they taste the same as the gallons you buy, but have only 5 calories. I can handle that!! I also LOVE the Great Value Dragon Fruit flavor. You can get the Hawaiian Punch at Walmart for $1, and the GV for $1.74. I purchased about 6 boxes today, because my kids love these...so instead of them having empty calories, they are still getting their water, with flavor, and NO SUGAR!

    Refusing To Eat

Honey, please try to get some fluids in. Sip daily! If you are still feeling like this in the AM, I would def. give your dr. a call! I am just 5 days behind you (2/13) and I am NEVER hungry, but I am always sipping on something. I hope you start to feel better soon! Keep us updated!

    Nsv....

    Awesome!!!
  7. I am 1 month post op (as of tomrrow) and I can't eat more than a couple bites of anything....if I eat applesauce, yogurt, or Soups, it takes me a very long time. I have learned to not rush it, just snack around. If I get thirsty in between, I just rinse my mouth out. The one thing that annoys me the most, is I ALWAYS have cotton mouth, like I just can't get enough to drink. I am meeting my daily liquids requirement, but always very parched. I am sure once the time passes, we will be more adjusted to our new lives. The one thing that I am so tickled over, but find so strange, is the change in my taste buds....things I used to love before, really repulse me now. Who knows, I may just like salad after all!!! LOL!!!
  8. I am only 1 month out, so my only sin for the week, is not getting in enough protein....oh I swear, I HATE HATE HATE trying to get that crap down!!!!!
  9. I have had a couple of episodes of vomiting. Last night, I tried to eat a soft scrambled egg, and after about 3 bites, it made me sick. I actually felt like I had something stuck in my chest, although I chewed really well. So, today, I did liquids, and about 6, I decided to try an egg again...after 1 bite, I was sick. I am chewing really well, and eating very slow. The mess is more like slimy stomach acid, nothing solid at all. I am sorry, this is gross, but we are all openly talking about it, and the topic says it all! I did manage to eat 3oz of Applesauce in an hour, just a while ago, so I think I am just going to stay away with eggs for a while...I have been eating eggs for 2 weeks, and only in the last 2 days has it made me sick. Vomiting does drain me though! Hope everyone feels better soon!!
  10. Hi Everyone, My name is Ty, I am a SAHM to 3 little boys, from Kentucky. I had my Vertical Gastic Sleeve on Monday, February 13, 2012, in Huntington, WV by Dr. Blaine Nease. Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op. I have lost a total of 44 lbs, and 29 lbs of that has been since the I was released from the hospital on 2/15/12. My total weight when I started my journey was 325, but I am currently down to 281. My overall goal is to get back down to my high school weight of 150. I am currently on stage 2 of my diet, can start stage 3 this week, but I am taking it slow. I am having a very hard time getting my Protein in each day, as the only thing I crave is Ice Water. I'm only getting about half of my protein and my daily water that is needed. I have started my Vitamins as of yesterday, and I hate it. I actually got sick from taking the multi-vitamins last night, first time I have been sick since I was in the hospital. Anyways, I look forward to learning more of your stories, tips, adventures, etc. Thanks for letting me share!!

    Newbie~ 2 Weeks Post Op!

Dr. Nease and staff are amazing! I had my surgery on a Monday, and was released on Wednesday. he uses a JP Drain, and then when you go back for your one week post op, he will remove it. The JP drain was the worst of my entire experience....apparently, they suture it to a muscle, so it tugs and pulls a lot, and causes some discomfort. But, after the drain came out, I have been smooth sailing. I am 3 weeks post op now, and have hit a weight loss of 35lbs since surgery, for a total of 50 lbs loss since I started seeing Dr. Nease.
  12. Hang in there ladies!!!! 3 weeks ago, I was getting in the bed as quickly as possible, not because I was excited for surgery, but because I was so hungry and just wanted to eat! But, I got up that Monday, went to the hospital, and had my surgery....my stomach doesn't feel any different at all, and hasn't since surgery. It doesn't feel like any of it is missing. The best thing.... I don't get hungry at all. I have been struggling with Protein, but I'm doing my best. I am in stage 3 of my post op diet, and I literally make myself eat, just so I have my nutrition. My family always has a dinner out on the weekends, and although the steaks, baked potatoes, buffalo wings and pizza all look amazing, there is no way I will put that mess in my body again! You can still eat healthy, and enjoy it at the same time. You just have to improvise, and learn to make revisions in your diet. I was 150 in high school, just 12 years ago. But after having 3 boys, over the last 10 years, I focused on them, and ate when I had the time, when I was sad, happy, mad...it didn't matter, I just enjoyed eating. It became mental for me, and even now...I still have a few lapses of that same mentality, not hungry, just wanting it...you just have to be stronger than the mind, and go for your goals!! Good luck ladies!!! Prayers to you all for a safe surgery!!!
  13. I was sleeved on the 13th as well!!! I was released on the 15th, and when I got home, I weighed in...as of today (2weeks) I am down 30lbs Post Op, and 45lbs since I started my journey! It is such an exciting feeling!!! I am in Stage 3 of my diet right now, but I am having a hard time finding things I enjoy, and getting in my Protein. I am going to setup a schedule tomorrow to go by, and hopefully that will help me. I have no appetite at all, besides crazing Water, so it makes it hard for me to try to get foods down. All in all, I am very excited about this, and with each passing day, I smile brighter and brighter!!! My goal weight is to get back to my high school days of 150!

    Valentine Day Sleevers

I was sleeved on 2/13/12....the first week was misery, with the JP drain, but this last week has been great! I am 100% now, besides a little pain when I overdo things, but I know my limits, and when to take a break!!!! My hardest thing at the moment is getting in my Protein, but I have no appetite for eating. Starting tomorrow I am going to setup a schedule for my meals to go by, and hopefully that will help me get my protein in! Water is awesome though...I crave it all day and night! I weighed in on 2/15/12 when I was discharged and to date I have lost 30lbs Post Op, 45 ALL together! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

    Newbie~ 2 Weeks Post Op!

Thanks hun!! I am still on full liquids, but my nutritionist told me to start stage 3 of pureed and blenderized foods this week. I am really nervous about it, but tonight, I tried just a small taste of mashed potatoes, and it was amazing! I have had a hard time finding anything that I feel worthy of eating in full liquids. My nutritionist said sugar free pudding, popcicles, and Jello, broths, etc, but I feel guilty eating pudding after having the sleeve. BTW...I never feel hungry, at all!! I love that!!! Does anyone else CRAVE water...I used to be a Cherry Pepsi/Cherry Dr. Pepper girl, but now all I want is ice water, not even flavored!!! But it makes me feel much better though!!!

    Newbie~ 2 Weeks Post Op!

Forcing the Proteins is so hard! I crave the water so much, thats all I want...I wish I could find a Protein powder in a fruit punch flavoring, all I can find like that is Creatine. I am drinking more water, but I always worry I am going to make myself sick! I hate throwing up! I have started walking though, just a little, but I am hoping to pick the pace up this week. Walking really does make me feel so energized and refreshed!!!
