  1. Oh my, I am 3 weeks post op and about three days ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with terrible pain in my left side. I stayed up all night with it. When morning came, I started to feel better. By 9 am I was fine. Three days later it is still happening and it's always at night. I'm thinking it must be gas but it's always in the same general area and always at night? I sure hope it stops soon.

  2. I feel the same way regarding eating. Started mushies last week and I just have to measure some out because I could certainly eat more. I did one night eat double mushie brussels sprouts and I felt soooo bloated all night.

At day nine I had lost 13 pounds from the day of surgery, since then nothing, in fact a week into mushies and I've gained four pounds???!!!!! However I have since found out that this happens to a lot of people and that I should just stick to the eating plan until I get my fill and okay from the doc to do some serious exercise.

Hang in there.....I am and this forum really does help!

  3. wow, this is distressing. Preop I lost 7 pounds, then during the first ten days post op, I lost 13 pounds. Then for three days no loss and today a one pound gain. What am I doing wrong? I started the soft food four days ago and I am making sure that the calories are under 600 for the day, but nothing is happening.

Has this happened to anyone else? I've not done any outright exercise, but every day I am up and about and walking around stores (to distract myself but yet keep walking),

My stomach does still feel a bit swollen especially where the port is but I saw my primary care doc and she said things look good. I don't see my surgeon until the 26th of June

    Any tips? Thanks

  4. I'm doing good. patch is off so I can know swallow and breathe through my nose as the dryness is about gone. Pain is very little now and mainly in one spot, probably the port. My stomach is still swollen and that feels weird but other than that all is good.

I did get on the scale an I've lost 8 pounds since the day of surgery (This past Thursday) and I'm not hungry. I am really careful to just continually sip Protein, Water, and broth and I haven't had any nausea at all.

Thanks DeAna for checking on us. Choy, let us know how you are doing.

    Have a great week!

  5. Oh yes, the throat definitely hurts! My chest not so much but it does hurt in front of my shoulders. Today has been a bit better plus I took off that patch so I'm hoping I'll regain some moisture in my mouth and nose! Hope you are okay today!!!

  6. I am really sore too. I was home from surgery around 1pm on Thursday, slept pretty much until yesterday. I would get up, walk around the house, sip some Water and then lay back down. This morning I feel a bit better and I just drank a Protein drink hoping that will help as well. Worse than the pain for me (which seems to include my whole torso) is the dryness. My mouth, nose and throat are soooooo dry it is about to drive me crazy. One of the people on here said it was the patch for nausea that is causing most of it. I think I will try to take it off today. Have you had any other issues? I hope not. I did have a low grade fever like 99.8 but I don't seem to have that today.

Just keep telling yourself it is the first days of our new life and I am counting on what these people say about feeling great after week two. I hope so. Keep me posted on how you are doing!

  7. Well I am a day and a half post op and my entire torso hurts with more pain in my shoulders. What causes your shoulder to hurt? My stomach is bloated and it hurts when I go from standing to sitting or vise versa But it's not intolerable. I like seeing all of you say it will get better! Thank you all!

  8. Awesome! I did my surgery yesterday at about 8am. I feel about the same as you as far as pain goes. Right after surgery when they took me back to my room I got really nauseous and acted like I was going to throw up, but the nurse gave me a shot of something that took care of that. Is it the patch that is making me feel so dry? I think the dry mouth, nose and throat has been the worst part for.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
