Hi and I understand, but DON'T be so hard on yourself. My Gosh...YOU'VE LOST 70 LBS! That's amazing and don't forget that.
The clothes will come in time!

You are welcome. You can do the same thing with chicken too! But I also add leeks to the stock pot for chicken.

My surgeron said 1-year. He stated that 1-ounce of liquor would have me drop dead drunk. Not sure if I want to try that just yet. I'm only 6-weeks out. Mind you, I may try a 1/2-glass of wine at the 6-month mark.

Here's' my beef stock recipe.
4-lbs beef shank split (have the butcher split them in 1/2)
2-carrots quartered
2-Celery quartered
2-Onions quartered
3-bay leafs
20-peppercorns
6-cloves of garlic
2-sprigs thyme
5-springs parsley
16-cups of Water
2-cups of red wine
Set the oven to 450 and place beef shanks in a roasting pan (place olive oil in the bottom) along with all quartered vegtabler. Roast for 1-1/2 hours and turn shanks every 20 minutes.
In a stock pot, add 15 cups of Water, and layer your beef and veggies in to pot. Add remaining items. Set the stock to med and bring to a boil and then reduce to med-low. While the stock is begining to cook, use the remaining 1-cup of water to deglaze the roasting pan. Be sure to get all the brown bits up...this is good stuff that adds flavor. Once the roasting pan is deglazed, add the remaining liquid to the stock pot.
The stock should simmer for about 4-hours at a slow bubble. Once the stock as reduced by 1/2 it is ready to strain.
I use a 2-cup measuring cup to begin straining and a meshed strainer. The strainer sits on a 4-quart bowl. I put the meat in a container to the side then pick it and and freeze it...it's wonderful for Soups or stews. The remaining liquids you will need to press with a large spoon in the strainer to get the liquids out. I generally give my dog's the solids that are left in the strainer...they love it.
Once you have the liquid strained, place it in the frige for 24-hours and the next day remove the fat from the top. Then store is pint bags or jars. This will hold for 6-months in the freezer. Note, the end product will be like a jelly...this is due to the beef. Once you heat it up it returns to a liquid.
Enjoy! This keep me alive during pre-op and my liquid post op.

I was worried about my dogs and cats too, but thankfully, none of them jumped on me till this week. I'm 5-weeks out. I think they can sense not to do something. :-)

WOO HOO! It's a great feeling! Congrats!

Keep pinching yourself...it's not a dream! Congrats!

I hope you feel better soon. I know this has been a real scare, but thankfully they caught it. My prayers are with you.

Congrats to all who have cleaned out their closets! I'm too afraid of buying new clothes or shoes right now. I so wanted a pair of boots, but my mom talked me off that ledge saying, "your calves will go down more by next year....buy them then". She's right. I walked away from the pretty boots, but I know next year will be different.
I need to clear out some of my old shorts. I've got plenty which are a size 24, there are a few 22's, a 20 and a 16 which I've held on to.
Good luck. I plan to hit 2nd hand stores during my transition. I hate spending all that money and watching it go down the drain...but in a good way.

I was told after the scabs were gone which was about week 4. I love my baths too and hate showers.

I have been tracking my intake since Dec 1 on myfitnesspal. I don't think it's food or milk.
But the one pattern I have noticed is that every time this happens I lose about 2-3 lbs. I just wonder if it's something my body is doing now.
-
So my weight-loss is going well. But for 2-days every 2nd week I feel badly. Yesterday was a prime example. I struggled to get my Protein and fluids in. I had no cravenings or want for food. Yet all day I felt like I was bubbling in my sleeve. And at one point I just cried because I felt so badly. I'm taking medince for gas, but it just doesn't seem to work for those two days.
Today I'm fine. I'm just wondering if this will continue on the journey of feeling fine 98% of the time and then crappy for 2% of the time.
-
I started my journey the beinging of last year. I'm 5'7'' and I weighted 310 lbs. I wore a 24 in pants and a 3x in shirts. I am just 5 weeks post-op and weight 238 and have dropped my pant size to a 20 and my tops to a 1x. I can wear 18 pants, but they are tight in the waist.
-
I've taken 6-weeks off. I don't return to work until 1/30. I'm glad I did. There are times I'm so beat I just nap.
-
It's the only one I could handle after many trys of other product. I tell everyone about them...even my friends that haven't had surgery.
-
Good Luck, and see you on the other side!

I start back to work the week after next, so I thought I might do a bit of housekeeping in my closet. First, I tried on the few pair of pants I generally wear for work. They had to go! I was swimming in them. Then I tired on pants I've held onto because I "thought" one day they might fit. Yeah, they fit. That gives me pants for at least a month or two.
Next onto shirts. I had beautiful silk blouses which I bought and could not wear becuase of my arm-n-hammer arms. I thought, Finally, I'll get to wear them. Not gonna happen...again, I was swimming in them. Dang, and they were nice and expensive blouses. Anyway, tried on the smaller one and yeah buddy! Look's like I'm not going to be wearing my turtleneck any longer!
Well, that clear out a 1/4 of my my closet. How about ya'll...how much did you clean out by your 1st month post op?

Yesterday was my 1-month post dr visit. They were pleased with my results 28% of my body fat is gone and my BMI is 38.6! YAY!!! I am finally allowed to exercise...another big YAY!
I asked them what my goal weight was...they responded 170. I was kinda shocked because I thought it would be 150.
What was your doctor's goal and what is your goal?
Mine is 155...I cannot remember when I weighted that; maybe junior high?

Here goes. I'm Michele. I'm 47 and have been married for the last 3-year. I am a transportation analyst for a CPG company. I have 3-step daughters, 2-grandbabies (which are my world since I never had children). And my adoring niece and nephew whom I cherish. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, again my babies. I love to garden, shoot, cook, and remodel my home. I love UT (that's Tennessee not Texas) football, and try to attend at least 1-game a year. I love camping and fishing, and working out.
As for my stuggles with weight. I can say it started in my youth. I cannot remember the last time I wore clothes from the women's section...but it's coming!
Looking forward to skydiving in the near future and maybe, just maybe a 5K.
This is an amazing journey if you practice it. Thank God for mircales.
