  1. I'm 3.5 weeks post-op and have been doing well. Just tired at times and other than that making sure I get my fluids in daily along with my Protein...it seems I am just not all that hunrgy or thristy between 2-6pm...note self...continued to drink. But today I did something not so good. I fell down the stairs about 1hr ago. I rode them on my left-side hip and ribs. I'm sore, but slightly afraid that I could have caused my stomach or spleen some damage. Thinking I should call my doctor. Has anyone else fallen after surgery and if so, did anything happen?

    Protein Drinks...yuck

I was gagging on the potein shakes from my doctor, myoplex vanilla, unjury. I was told to get the Premier Potein shakes from Sams. They are 5 carbs and 30 grams per 11 ounces. They taste like chocolate milk to me. I drink 1-1/5 a day and get the remaining protein from other sources. Good luck, you have to try a few until you find what you can handle.
  3. Actually, I had the opposite affect. I've been taking sleeping pills for years. Since the surgery, I believe I've only taken them 3 times.
  4. So for the last two days I've been in slight pain. I'm not sure if it's gas or just backed up in the potty area. I've been going to the bathroom all day. No liquid semi solid matter. I'm getting my liquids and protein in so I don't know why I keep going. :-(

    December sleevers!

Happy, I am sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Know that she is walking with you during your journey. Take care and God Bless you.
  6. Thanks everyone. I'm only 12-days post-op and to see this type of difference is crazy! I had on my jeans yesterday for my 1st post-up visit. They are snug in my belly area, but my pant legs are flopping! LOL Anyway, they said I am doing fine. 18% of my weight is gone and they were pleased I have to remain on the liquid phase for 2-more weeks. But, I can have refried Beans, yogurt, and cottage cheese once a day...THANK YOU GOD!
  7. It's funny I thought I would lose my upper body more quickly then anywhere else. But, where I have seen the most visable weight-loss is my legs. I grew up hearing those awful words "thunder thighs" my whole life. Between my legs and my arm-n-hamer arms I had the damnest time finding clothes to fit me well. Over the weekend a friend made me try on clothes, which is something I have great hesitation in doing. While at the store the clerk said, "why don't you try on some leggings." I'm thinking you're crazy...have you seen my thighs?? Then, she brings me an XL. I'm thinking lady you really are crazy. I tried them on and they fit and then she brings me a size 18 jeans and I'm thinking...this woman is high too! I'll be damn...they fit! They were skinny leg jeans too!!!! Anyway, since the surgery my legs have gone down signifcantly...many inches. I can see it in my jeans but couldn't believe it. Last night my niece came in while I was getting ready for my bath. She said, "Aunt Cheles, your legs are skinny!" Okay, I can offically say, I'M LOVING MY SLEEVE! Now, hopefully the upper body will go down more!
  8. I was on the board reading new post and comment as I do every morning. I was sipping on decaf tea with splenda. All the sudden my head starting pounding, I was trembling, cold sweat, and shallowed breathing. I realized there was something wrong. I got up and walked to my stairs, but I was weak in the knees and afraid to walk the stairs. I crawled them and made it to my bed. At that point I laid down. Then my mouth started watering heavily. I got scared then. I called my mom and slowly walked to the bathroom where I wanted everything to come out of both ends. At this point my mom is asking me to get tot the point of what was wrong. I coudln't focus, just shallowed breathing. She hung up. Then I used the bathroom and everything started coming back to normal. Mom walked in and started freaking out about me being downstairs. I had to calm her down instead of her calming me. She meant well, and I believe she was scared too. Has anyone had this type of experience? It scared the heck out of me.

    Fgf: Past, Present And Futures

5-years ago I was single, working for a consulting firm, and had purchased my own home. I came back to my town to be close to family and friends. A year later I meet a man who I married. My weight had stabled off around 250 and I was comfortable with myself. I was looking for a new job, trying to get one closer to my home and that came in place about a year later. At this point I had been remodeling my home and was completed with everything but the kitchen, deck, and new roof At the beinging of this year I was at my HW of 305. I never saw myself there, but knew beacue of clothes. Then I had to have carparl tunnal surgery in April. I couldn't handle the pain my left arm any longer. After that...a second sinus surgery (i've had chrontic sinus infections for 4-years) and my life was miserable. 5-months after the sinus surgery I noticed I wasn't getting sinus infections every 6-weeks....this was a great thing. It was also the time when I friend of mine had here VSG and got me thinking again about stepping of that ledge. During this time, I also lost my best friends because I choose to watch a football game with my dad and not them. (Mind you, I had been with them the 3-weeks before)...oh well. So, I review my insurance and they finally approved the sleeve. That was it. I was going back for a consult. Here I am 9-days post op and just imaginig the posibilities. What will 2012 bring...transformation of Michele. I want to focus on changing my career, completing the remodeled kitchen, take my health seriously and become whom I've always known I was. And maybe study French again. :-)
  10. LOL...I just talked with some of my co-workers yesterday. They are asking when I'll be back and how was I feeling. Long story short, I told them great, some days really tired, and plenty of gas! They were guys and they just started laughing saying how fun I'll be when I return to working tooting along!
  11. Here I'm 9-days out from surgery. I've been doing fine with the except of my aching back. I'm wondering if it's my posture from the quick weight loss...but I don't know. Anyway, today the Monster came out. It was around 1pm today and it growled, moaned, and drove me crazy. I've been on full-liquids with the exception of 6oz of greek yogurt, and that was the day I realized I could no longer tolerate the Protein shakes. Two days ago I added egg drop Soup to my diet which TOTALLY satified me. But today, I did not get the same effect. Today I broke down and checked what was "allowed" on the 2nd-phase. There it was...refried Beans, low-fat sour cream, and a dash of taco sauce. My mouth watered, my stomach growled. Two Tbsp later I was satisfied and the Monster shut up! I'm going to be careful...I'm too afraid of causing a leak. But at least it was the 1st real food I've had in over 3-weeks. I'll go back to full liquids tomorrow.

    Food Porn ( Graphic)

Well, that explains it...I've been in food porn mode since Christmas. I watch the Cooking Chanel and reading cook books. My husband asked me last night why I'm watching the Cooking Chanel...I didn't have an answer for him.. I never thought of it as part of the addiction. OH MY GOSH! As for cravings...I want a turkey meatball with marinara sauce. Heck, I never made turkey meatballs...how strange!
  13. You look amazing! Great job and plenty of hard work. Congrats to you!

    Think I Messed Up...

I agree...stay on the liquids to give your stomach time to heal.
  15. Want to get moving today!

  16. Congrats on the new home! YEAH!!!
  17. Hey All, thanks for the feedback and support. I called both my PCP and VSG. First, the PCP said, take the BP meds to 1/2. The VSG group didn't call em back until 20min ago. We discussed the BP meds, and they want me to stop them asap. As for what happened this morning...they are thinking low blood sugar. Yesterday in my Quest for Protein I opted for greek 2x protein with 24 carbs. The nurse believes that the increase in my carb count from 40-90 grams is what did it to me. Thanks again!
  18. That was the best feedback anyone could give!
  19. So, here I am 6-days post-op and I hate (yes that's the only term I can use) the shakes and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored powder. I've tried any combination of mixtures with the supposed unflavored powder....NOTHING taste good. I have to force myself to drink it. At this point, I have added 2-cups of skim milk to get the fuilds and the much needed Protein in. I do at least 1-scoop of the Unjury with a 1-cup of stock and then a Protein shake but only 1/2 of one which puts my protein just at 55 grams a day. The downside, the 2-cups of skim milk add carbs to the intake....not so happy with that. Any thoughts or feedback on a better protein supplement?
  20. Really? NSV already? So I've been stuggling with the Protein powders, but I think I've got that whipped with the Isopure RTD. However, my husband made a comment about my jeans getting baggie last night so I thought tonight I might check my measurements since I hadn't checked them in 2-weeks Here goes. Neck 17 - 16-3/4 Waist 51 - 50 Hips 55 - 47...yeah, I lost 7 inches off my hips! So, with these numbers I decided to see if I could get into my old size 22 100% cotton Levis that I would not get rid of for the last 3 years. YEAH BABY! They fit!!!! With that great feeling I pulled a pair of 18's my sister-in-law gave me. First, I could never get them over my thighs. Not tonight! They are up and although I cannot button them, I was able to get them all the way on! I'm feeling frogy! :-) Oh, and down 8-lbs in 7-days. Woo Hoo!!!
