  1. I am only about 4 weeks (march 21st surgery date) post op and I haven't lost any weight in a week. Not since I started eating real food. Maybe an ounce or 2. Its quite frustrating because I'm eating properly. Getting my Protein in as well as exercising. WTF???? Should I have hit a plateau this early in the game? This is extremely discouraging...should I call the nutritionist?

    Sad in Toledo: (

Hi Panda, I totally understand your frustration. I would probably call the nutritionist, it won't hurt. I am afraid that when I start mushies this week that I won't lose weight anymore, or it will at least slow way down. But, I know that I can't live on a liquid diet forever.

  2. Thanks ladies! :-) I don't know what I would do without you guys! Iwas definitely having carb cravings! But, I didn't give in. I can hold out until Friday when I hopefully get to have mushies!

I have weighed myself and I've lost 24 lbs in 3 weeks! 1 1/2 inches in my hips, my tummy is still a bit puffed up still. I noticed that my pants are quite looser, yippee!

  3. Hi everyone' date=' this is my very first post. I am schedule to have bypass surgery April 13th. I am a little nervous as the time approaches.

I am not as nervous abt the surgery as i am abt what comes after. Excerising is not an issue as its how i lost 120lbs on my own since 2008. I am more concerned abt the diet after.

Reading over all the information i was not clear on a couple of things. I have identified the protien shakes that i like, but when i am in stage 2(full liquids) am i only to do the shakes, broth, sf Gelatin and popicles for two weeks or can i incorporate lf/sf yogurts and puddings and strained cream Soups? [/quote']

I had all of those preop , cream soups etc. But after surgery my Dr. said to stick with more Protein shakes.

  4. I had surgery last Monday 04/02/2012 and drove today my dghtr to school. I feel great!!!! (knock on wood) I been very skeptical about pain meds' date=' I think is more b/c my pain level is great! The first 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th day were pretty bad as far as pain but afterward Gosh no pain at all, just a bit discomfort but nothing bad at all. Also I guess I been lucky, b/c everyone I know that had done this surgery always tell me that they had nauseas and vomit episodes and so far (again knock on wood) nothing at all!

I'm so happy w/this surgery decision and I don't think that I will regret it at all![/quote']

Glad to hear that you are feeling so well! My pain was pretty much gone yesterday, day 5 post op, then I wasn't thinking and sneezed with my mouth closed. OMG, that still smarts. I had quite a bit of nausea too, but when I increased my fluids, that has passed. I am feeling much better today. I actually wanted to eat real food last night!

  5. I'm in process of getting approval and trying to decide which one. Would love to hear feedback on why you chose bypass. Thanks.

I had originally went in to have the sleeve. I had severe reflux, so surgeon said sleeve may not be a good choice for , might make reflux worse. So, I decided to go with gastric bypass, I figured if I was commited I may as well go all the way. The weight loss was greater with the bypass also.

  6. Im two weeks post op. I dont see a change yet. Im getting a little discourged about the discision i made. What do you think?

I hear you. I am getting discouraged today, guess I feel nauseous because I am getting dehydrated. Most of the surgical pain is gone now, so that's good. I just hate feeling sick. I called the surgeons office and they are getting me a Rx for a anti nausea patch, hopefully that helps. If not I have to go in tomorrow and get IV fluids. I hate the thought of another IV attempt! In the hospital they missed 6 times in 2 days, and the two they did get ended up leaking.

  7. Hey guys! My surgery is on the 13th and I'm FREAKING out. It will be done in a German hospital ( we are military in Germany) and its also my first surgery ever! Can anyone tellme what it's like? I need to know I'm not going to die lol and how do you feel when you wake up? Any advice!!!! Good new is I'm down 10 lbs already pre op diet :)

HiI I just had gastric bypass yesterday. it wasn't as bad as I feared. I had it done on base in San Antonio. I get to go home tomorrow. good luck.

  8. Hey Txmama congrats on your big day!! I know the sunday before mine I did everything I could laundry spring cleaning anything just anything to keep my eyes off the clock which at that point was moving at snail pace lol or so it seemed. I was the first case monday so that meant the hubby and I had to be up by 0400 and so we laid down about 9pm and I laid there for at least two hours praying and crying thanking my lucky stars that I had made it.....up until that point I wouldn't let my gaurd down or get excited about any check point I had overcome heck even when I got the approval letter I was still kinda numb.....I guess I was so scared that something would go wrong and I wouldn't be able to have it done but if we just keep pushing forward our dreams will come true :D So' date=' good luck tomorrow and congrats again I'm super happy for you :)[/quote']

    Thanks Mtjoymom3

I just found out that I don't have to be at hospital until 9 am, ugh! Well guess thats good, my kids can see me before I go to hospital, but I was hoping to go in early.
