  1. You will be there the week after me. Good luck!!! Sending positive energy your way.
  2. Thanks for posting that DDFinn. I was wondering about that! I didn't want Mrsteacher to miss out on protein if she could get it in...
  3. The only critique I have is that you stop and say "um" too much. I've considered making a YouTube video but I'd probably keep it for my family only. not sure I want to put my face on the public forum just yet... Nice job!
  4. That's great news! Tell us more!
  5. Sleeve sister with goofycathy!! June 14 with Dr Kelly in TJ, Mexico. Yippee!!
  6. No protein until day 10? That's strange. Not even isopure? Does he just want you to focus on water?
  7. Congratulations! That is awesome!
  8. I love your name!!!! What can we do to help? I finally just made a decision as stuck with it, because honestly, most of the Mexico drs are really good! So pick one and don't look back. I'm going to Dr Kelly, along with GoofyKathy on June 14. Wanna join us?
  9. Me too!!!! I cannot put into words how embarrassed I was to try on boots this past winter. I hope my calves get smaller. .
  10. I too feel this way! Just under 5'3 and 188 lbs. do I have to do something this permanent?? Yes I do. Or else I'd already be thin! In fact, I'm proud of those of us who are NOT morbidly obese taking the reigns of our health and gaining control. In another 10 years (I am 42) these extra 65 or so lbs will mean diabetes, heart disease, etc. For me, this is a preventative measure to keep myself from developing those problems! I am a huge overeater and I see this as a gift to help me overcome that. Hang in there and keep writing on these boards!! It's a huge help. I'm scheduled for June 14.
  11. Tried on cute winter boots this year and couldn't buy ANY except super short ones because my short fat legs would not fit into any of them. I was mortified and my husband felt terrible for me! I am 10 weeks from being sleeved in Mexico and I'm focusing on positive things like this. I want to be able to fit my calves into some cute boots this coming winter!!
  12. I am sorry to hear the news. Hope you are ok. Hugs!!
  13. I hate protein shakes too, and I've tried both the unjury and the nectar powders. To me they are very similar and have a yucky taste and smell. I prefer the Isopure clear drinks and protein shots to the shakes.
  14. All of these guys are awesome! I've considered Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Garcia, Dr. Alvarez, Dr. Aceves, Dr. Kelly - and finally just picked one! We are all in good hands, I believe!
  15. Given the fact that I've had to change doctors 4 times in the last 9 years because of lousy care, this makes me VERY angry. I've seen more dirty clinics and hospitals here in the U.S. - enough that I'm very disappointed in the care I've received via my ***. So this kind of thought process is ridiculous. Health care in the U.S. is in serious decline and we are going to start seeing more and more people go for care in other countries because we simply cannot afford it any more. U.S. Insurance does not see obesity as a preventative disease unless you are morbidly obese and have comorbidities. I think that's utterly ridiculous. The concept of not WAITING until someone gets sick from their obesity is lost on U.S. healthcare. It drives me crazy. It makes me so angry that I, at a BMI of almost 35, and super healthy except for my weight - cannot get any help with this surgery, pre-op or post-op, because I am healthy. I have to wait until I am 50 and have blown out knees, diabetes, heart disease, or whatever, before insurance will help. I think that is LUDICROUS. So Mexico is ahead of the game on this surgery. Oh you can get it here in the US. - as an outpatient for $20K. That's unaffordable, and considering that I'm STILL not covered post-op for any complications, WHY would I have it done in the U.S??? Yes these places tell you that they "guarantee" their surgeries for so long, but that's not the point... if it was bad enough to need hospitalization, then you could rack up some huge bills. If my experience in Mexico is as good as others, I may just start going there for all of my healthcare. I already pay $500 a month for crappy health insurance that really doesn't cover much. I could probably get better care in Mexico. Sorry but as a doctor myself - a veterinarian - the way the U.S. healthcare system treats people is appalling. There's a reason we are losing ground in our standing in the world with regards to Healthcare. There is a saying in medicine that goes like this: "A chance to cut is a chance to cure" and it applies to obesity too!!!
  16. The reason there is pain in the left shoulder is because the gas puts pressure on a nerve that causes the pain in the shoulder! This is why walking helps, it helps you get rid of the gas! But any new or recurring pain - I'd definitely give my dr a call.
  17. Allie, I'm only about 3 hours north of you and hope to see my team for post ops too. How is that working for you?
  18. Oh absolutely. Mexican drs have been doing this surgery for about 7 years while it was only approved in the US in 2008. They are more skilled at it. We are all in good hands!!!
  19. You have to check with your insurance and GP. Mine isn't covered even if I have it done in the US.
  20. I feel the same way!! Now I feel better about all of this!
  21. I wish I could find more info on this product other than what I'm finding in body building forums! Whey protein comes from milk, what do people who are lactose intolerant do? Can they still tolerate the whey?
  22. I have not been sleeved yet but have started my supplements in prep. I take the chewable Celebrate multi vitamin and the Celebrate Calcet lemon cream creamy bites which were recommended by someone else on here - they are great! Like eating a little treat! Not sure how I'll handle any of these post op but for now they are some of the better vitamins I've taken.
  23. The orange flavor, but it doesn't really taste like orange. But it's good. Thick, but good. I have a vitamin shot glass that has 1 and 2 oz measurements on it and it's really easy to get 2 oz down (since that's about all your body is able to handle in the first place).
