My Journey - 1 Year Anniversary
VJSlim replied to I Made It's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So true - TOM is a b****. So, are you at goal yet? Or do you think you'll lose some more and then start maintaining? I'm trying to imagine where I'll be at my one year mark, but I cant really think of a 'goal' number. The one on my ticker is really my reach-for-the-moon-you'll-atleast-land-on-a-star goal LOL. I think I need to set a realistic goal for me. My doc says he expects me to come down to 165. But I think I'll be between 175 and 180. Lets see how it goes *fingers crossed* -
My Journey - 1 Year Anniversary
VJSlim replied to I Made It's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
An amazing journey!! Congrats on all your success! That smile on your face speaks for itself. You look fab!! If you dont mind me asking, can you please share with us what your starting/surgery weight was and how much you have lost in one year? I love reading stories like this. They keep me (and everyone here) motivated. Your kids look amazing and I'm very sure they are very proud of you! At this age, they truly need the inspiration to take care of themselves. -
You look fantastic! Congrats!

Sleeved - April 10, 2012
VJSlim replied to Sap Soon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! Hope you have a speedy recovery without any complications!! -
Well, I lost 22lbs the first month and my doc said it was a good rate. 20lbs is a good amount considering we're pumped up in fluids and have to lose more right after surgery. If you dont mind me asking, what is your starting weight? People who start with a lower weight/BMI tend to lose slowly. You're doing just fine, dont worry

The First Week Post Op
VJSlim replied to lookingforward2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The tender coconut water was one of my favs during liquid phase (which covered 3 weeks). One cup of tender coconut water has 46 calories and 8g carbs. This was one of the liquid diet items suggested by my surgeon. Considering we get in very less amounts of calories during Clear liquids (I barely managed 400 - out of which 200 came from my protein shakes), I think the carb in coconut water is not a lot. But I'll have to ask my surgeon about how much we can consume a day - I'm curious now Ofcourse my surgeon's diet plan emphasizes protein -- I take almost 65 to 80g protein a day (mostly from Protein shakes and fish/chicken). But I think it is very difficult to achieve protein reqmts during clear liquid stages. -
Awesome! I love hearing stuff like this... I didn't (and don't) lose at such an amazing rate, but hearing about it makes me so happy coz this is a proof that VSG works wonderfully!

Can I Eat Oranges Or Tangerines?
VJSlim replied to FluffyBleu76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oranges may be a bad idea if you already have an acid reflux. But maybe you could try other fruits? I'm a watermelon addict now -- I have atleast one slice a day!! -
Anyone Else Still Really Self Conscious About Their Looks?
VJSlim replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look amazing!!! I would be thanking God forever if I'm even close to what you look like at my one year mark! And marathons?? They seem like Mt.Everest to me right now... If I EVER walk 5 miles at a strech I would name myself 'Lady Bolt'!! But seriously, nothing matches that beautiful happy smile on your face! I think it is the most valuable gift from your sleeve! -

Welcome and Congrats on making this decision!! I too have found that slim folks cannot understand what we go through. I was (and am) very ecstatic on finding this forum. This was a great place for my research pre-op - never seen such a bunch of motivating and inspirational people anywhere else!! I wish you a safe surgery and speedy recovery and all success in your weight loss journey!
