  1. I was almost 50 lbs down before most people noticed, go figure. Even though I dropped from a size 22/24 to a 12/14! Just today my boss said something for the FIRST time, and I'm 63 lbs less! Some people feel uncomfortable saying anything, and others (especially those who see you every day) simply don't notice! Don't let it get you down.

  2. Thank you all for your responses. I will pray for you tropicalgal and thank you for your prayers. I wish I had the same certainty as WhoozisAnyway -- what a great mind set. I think the determining factor is that if I don't do this' date=' there will be no change in my life. One year, or two or three years from now, I'll still be where I am right now and that's just so sad. How wonderful it will be to be slim and to feel beautiful. To be healthy and energetic. I've always wanted to learn to surf or to kayak, or to salsa. I would love to wear jeans in heels and get a short, sassy hair cut that looks fabulous on my slimmer face. It all sounds superficial but it's the truth. That's what I will keep thinking about...[/quote']

I was just so utterly weary of the struggle to control my weight. Then, in January, I badly reinjured my back and could barely walk. Even developed a bad limp the doctor warned might be permanent. On a trip in February, I had to be wheeled through the airport, then almost couldnt buckle my seatbelt on the plane. I realized I was getting a preview of the rest of my life if I didn't take control. That is why I had no doubts.

  3. Hi!

I work in HR and it is a Federal Requirement/Law that you have to be employed by that specific employer for 12 months and have worked 1250 hours to be eligible for the FMLA portion of a leave. SInce your company offers you 6 weeks of STD' date=' normally, you should be job protected while on STD. If you moved to LTD then they can probably replace you if there was a business need.

Additionally, if you reach your 1 year mark anytime during your STD, you then become eligible for FMLA. If you reached your 1 year mark 2 months after your surgery, you then become eligible and could take it if you were still having recovery needs and issues requiring you not to work.

Good luck! I know the rules and red tape are such a PIA![/quote']

I'm in HR too and agree with Sunflower.

  4. Hi everyone' date='

I'm waiting for my sleeve to be done in November. I keep going back and forth about it. I wake up in the morning thinking "no way am I going through with this,... it's too extreme..." Then, as the day drags on, I change my mind and think about all the time I've wasted being fat and inactive, letting life go by. I've gone back and forth like this for months while waiting for my official date to be sleeved. I don't know if this is normal or if it's a good idea go through with the sleeve if I'm not 100% behind it. I do know that I'll probably never lose the weight any other way. It's so depressing. I keep thinking what a loser I am that I have to cut my stomach in order to lose weight, that I'm not strong enough or discipline enough to do it the "regular" way. Just need to talk this out...[/quote']

I had absolutely zero second thoughts about the procedure. Once I did the research and saw the positive/ negatives, it made me even more determined. I wish you the same certanty.

  5. Spent several hours at the mall today. I haven't done that in 5-6 years. Today I went to "normal" stores, bought clearance shorts and capris in a size 14R (down from 22/24W 6 mos. ago), shoes 1 size smaller than 6 mos. ago, and two shirts in a size SMALL (down from 1-2X). The size small is an outlier 'cause I've got some big hooters, but I'll take it! I can't remember the last time I didn't have to shop in the "big lady" section. Still can't believe this is all real.

  6. Can someone explain the whole gas pain in the shoulder to me! Makes absolutely no sense to me. Mice seen it mentioned before. How can you get gas pain in your shoulder from abdominal surgery?

I'm not sure how, but that was the only pain I had. Felt like a big bruise just under my collarbone and hurt to take deep breaths for a few days. Other than that, though, recovery was a breeze and nothing compared to my sinus surgery just a few months prior.

  7. I'm not even 5 months post op, but last week I ate an entire slice of pizza (granted, this was "designer pizza" about half the size of a Dominos or Papa Johns slice and without the crust) and freaked myself out. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a bread product since surgery, but it was enough to scare me away from unhealthy foods again. With a dense Protein like steak I can still only eat 1.5-2 oz at a time, but simple carbs like bread, crackers or pizza dough go down much easier. Lesson learned.

  8. May I ask ur height and how many months out are you? You look stunning!

4.5 months post surgery. I'm 5'5", started pre op diet 2/25, lost 20 before surgery on 4/9, and 42 post surgery. Bit of a slow loser, but it has averaged 10 lbs/mo. Started in a size 22/24 pants and 1x-2x shirts, now size 14-16 pant and M/L top, dress size about a 12.

  9. Thanks!

    My advice would be:

    1. Do what your doctor says and follow your pre and post op diets carefully

    2. Exercise (I'm currently doing Water aerobics 2x week, 1 hour elliptical 2x week plus strength training 1-2x week)

    3. Use a food/exercise tracker like MyFitnessPal

    4. Say goodbye to fast food permanently

    5. Stay away from Pasta, rice, bread and potatoes

    6. Have fun and don't let stalls or off days get you down - they're just blips on the radar screen!

  10. I use these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LKB0IU/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00

The sound is great, they stay on, sweat doesn't seem to cause any issues, they stay charged forever and so inexpensive that I don't worry about breaking them. The Bluetooth works great, I've even used them on phone conversations, crystal clear.

I must have freakishly shaped ears, because in-ear headphones don't stay in, ever. Was considering duct-taping my old set to my ears before I found the Kinovo.
