  2. Ugh the waiting game..it was torture. I def know how you feel. But I'm sure it'll be good news. I'm in MD till the summer so I decided to get it done here with Dr. Averbach but when I thought I was going to do it in the dfw I was going to do it at Baylor not wit Dr. Matin though. If I remember correctly she's the director so you'll def be in good hands. Let us know when you get your date so we can shower you with congrats :)

  3. Hey, SkinnyB, I LOVE love the username. I just had my surgery, and a lot of people commented on my positive attitude toward it, and said that would help. I feel like you are SO super positive. I know you'll do wonderfully and I'm excited to read your posts.

Also, your pic is SO pretty.

Thanks so much! Remaining positive will help with success for sure. Wth you lost 10lbs on your pre-op..kinda wishing I had to do one. Instead I'm having "last supper syndrome" hahaha Best of luck to you. I know you'll do amazingly.

  4. -Having more confidence and increased self-worth/esteem

-Taking pictures from all angles and poses, not just the ones I look slimmer in (Hand on the hip, u know what I’m talking about lol)

    -Fitting into my old jeans

-Superficial: Finding a rich man :tongue2:

  5. Congrats! I've been waiting almost 4 months to get my date. Damn Kaiser!!!! BTW, love the name.

Thanks!! Wow 4 months?1? If I were you I think I would've robbed a bank been cash pay by month 2 ;p Kaiser is good for torturing people. But patience is a virtue, At least now you probably know the surgery like the back of your hand which will only make you more successful. Let us know when you get your date!!

  6. Congratulations on getting your date.. I understand the overwhelming happiness you feel. It took me 11 months, but finally was approved on 12/18 and had my surgery 12/28. It's a terrific journey so far, my recovery has been text book perfect. Thankfully it was NOTHING like trying to get approved. :-) I wish you the best of luck. PS, if the lady in the profile photo is you, I'm not sure you can get any prettier, maybe just healthier.

Wow..I read your About Me and I must say I truly admire your determination. You really deserved the surgery and I hope my experience is as smooth sailing as yours :P and yes the pic is of me...thanks for the compliment. I'm blushing lol

  7. Hi Guyyysss !!! I've been a lurker on this site for a while now. I decided that I'd post something since the surgery is no longer a pipe dream but a reality. I've been approved!!! Surgery date is February 1!!! My emotions run the gamut right about now lol.

But I must admit this ain't my first weight loss surgery rodeo.

My mom and I had a bands put in Jan 2009. She shelled out $20,000 just like that. It worked...in the beginning. I went from 208 to 159. Looked pretty friggin hott too. But I was miserable with my band. I was losing weight and following the rules to a T but I knew the band wasn't for me. I NEVER felt any restriction so my weight loss in my opinion was a result of militant calorie restricting and exercise bulimia. Then complications lead to loss of effectiveness which lead to weight gain and ultimately removal. I gained all the weight back and then some.

But now I've been approved, via insurance this time! No strict pre-op diet, no red tape, and a BMI that barely met the requirement. I've been thanking my lucky stars every day.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and thank all of you guys for your informative, helpful, and inspiring posts that made and will continue to make me want to take control of my health. I hope the surgery brings me much needed success and I'll def be updating regularly.

    Thanks for reading :))
