    Severe reflux

I do not have an answer for you other than a question? What are you eating? Is there something that could be acidic or coffee? These items will make it worse. Try some ginger tea until you can get to the doctor, if you have not been already. I have tried that myself as I have a hiatal hernia and when the reflux is bad I use that as well as the Prevacid/ Pirlosec. Though my hernia is small, I believe this is what causes me much discomfort when I get really acidic foods. Please keep us posted.

    Sleeping Habits

There are older topics on here that mentioned irregular sleep patterns. Try and search, but I do believe it is something that will not last.

    Cigna anyone?

My approval actually came within a weeks time. I did call and check the status. You can inquire indicating that your surgery is scheduled already.

    12/2012 Sleevers...what Is Your Plan?

We have 2 months or more until the time of our surgeries. Share what you are doing to prepare. Even though I have my date, I still have 3 more appointments to attend. 2 on the same day and 1 in November. I am hoping to make it to Support Group Meeting on tomorrow since I don't have school. This will be the 1st meeting I will have attended since March. So are you planning your excercises? Are you trying Protein Drinks or shakes? Are you purchasing little by little items needed for surgery? The time will go by quickly...do not be caught off guard. Until next time....

    Delayed...but *not* denied

Well I am no longer apart of the 12/2012 sleevers. I had to reschedule my date due to other committments. If anyone complains about a waiting process for a lifetime committment they need to come and talk to me. I truly believe that I am exhibiting the patience of Job! With that being said congrats to all of you who will start anew in 2012. I shall await what is to be seen in 2013! Be Blessed and Much Sucess to You...and you...and you too!

Can't Wait To Start Dating Again...

Yes, it has been a while. Mostly because I shied away from it, thinking that no man would want me in my physical state. I love the possibility of Love. I have my eye on a guy with great potential. I think he is too young for me. Haha...this surgery will not turn me into a cougar! Rahrrrrrr. LOL *I digress* If it has been awhile for you, how will you handle dating again?

    Cardiac Clearence

Jamari, I had to have the same tests. However, my insurance company did indicate there were tests that weren't as costly. All of them (nuclear, echo and treadmill) were normal. All will be well.

New & With A December Date!

Hi Katrina and Welcome, I am having surgery on the 18th. The date is right around the corner, so take your time to get familiar with what your Surgeon, NUT, whomever is suggesting. Also this site has a wealth of informtation. I have also gained some insight from YouTube vids. Just prepare as can. If you have not already you may want to sample some Protein be it drinks or powder. I understand that your taste may change after the surgery, so don't go wild and crazy right off the bat. I went to Vitamin Shoppe and bought a few individual RTD's, out of th 5, I acutally liked 2, maybe 3. I also really care for Atkin's...my fav right now, so I hop after surgery, it will remain a fav. I plan to shop for things I need every other week, so whent he time comes it will already be available. You might also want to start, if you have not already begin not drinking with your meals, chew your food completely and reduce portions. All of which will be a great deal of help for post-op. Veteran Sleevers may want to chime in as well. I have been here awhile just biding my time, and it is soon to come. Much success to you.

    55 Days And Counting Down....what?!?!

Whoa! It seems like yesterday, I wrote 90 day countdown and here it is already past my checkpoint of 60 days. Where has the time gone. I have spent time researching, reading, watching videos, encouraging new comers, supporting vets all the while...stressing over my own circumstance. It is a good stress though, because I am anxious for the things to come. I already anticipate greater opportunities for my life. It starts with my health but encompasses a great deal more. I'm here and I can't stop until I have reached my goals. 55 days will soon be 5 days and before you know it I will be PatientlyWtng no more! Be Blessed!

    Prayed About It...well...

Wow BornAgain, This is good news you are sharing....your loss and no longer needed the diabetes meds. God is awesome! OAN...here me clear...I would not presume to know you, but I would dare not call you weak. Again, timing is everything, especially with God' plan for our life. That may have been the prompting you needed to delay until things were lined up to become ready. We ask God to go before us, right? He already knew the day you would have surgery, in so much that 17 days post op you would have a good report of an overall total loss of 30lbs. Who is to say that 2 years ago, there would not have been something beyond your control that would have not made the experience a great one! Just my $.02 Keep us posted on your progress and Be Blessed!

    Prayed About It...well...

I am wondering after all the tries, fails to shed the excess and the final decision to have WLS...have I really prayed about it? I have had a tendency to pray and not really wait on an answer. The way I viewed WLS was probably the way many naysayers have, but ONLY regarding myself. I would never discourage another to do it for themselves. So why now has my view changed?? It's because 'I' can no longer do this alone. In the last few weeks where 'I' have made the decision, I have been gung ho about research...on the websites for hours on end, forsaking FB and Twitter(need to dust that off). I have filled myself with YouTube, VST, OH, 2 friends in conversation, my mother in conversation and the calling the doctor's office and insurance company with questions. I have been crunching numbers like crazy, because in the midst of being in the process pre-op, I am to start school in April...*hugh sigh*. School....that cuts down time for excercising, only two hours between work and class, 5 days a week.....ARRRGGGH! What am I getting into I want to be well informed. I know this being major surgery, I will have an issue with anesthesia. It's a given. Nervous but ok. I don't tolerate pain well. Nervous but ok! I won't have a portion of my stomach. Ok. Nervous Watched videos and read posts of regret. Nervous To be honest I need to take a break because I have become obsessed and I am SCARING myself. With all of this said, have you noticed that I not once said I prayed. *lol* Here I am, will lay down all the madness that I have created and pray. My scripture reference from here on out... I may add more or just let this one be my focus... is Psalm 91. I make it personal...and will speak it every step through my journey! AND I will pray! I am 'She, Lyn, your Daughter', who dwells in the secret place of the most high and I will abide under the shadow of the Almighty... I want my prayer to be answered with what is best for Lyn's future! I want and deserve to be Happy, Healthy and Whole!

    Prayed About It...well...

Shmrock, I feel you on realizing more peace. I think over time as the excitement wore down, I was able to focus and it didn't feel like a rushed decision. Usually when I make up my mind about doing something, I pretty much obsess until, 1) it's done or 2) I decide not to do it. Because of the time from first appointment until time for surgery, I had to make myself say, you really need to get it together! Stepping away from VST and any other BS outlet and occupying my time with activity helped as well and then I felt the peace. I am still nervous that I'm doing the right thing. In the forefront sometimes are the long term residuals but, surgery isn't cancelled either...lol. Please keep us posted on your progress!

Slimagainsoon, Thanks for sharing. Please keep us posted on your progress. Please believe that research is key. I still research as best I can, though at times it seems I am going in circles. Be Blessed as well!

    Dieting Before The Pre-Op Diet

Hi, My requirements for insurance was at least 2lbs per month. When I was going to the monthly visits I lost 5 then went back up 1. I stayed there until my last visit. Because my surgery is in December as well, I decided that something else was needed to help me! Now...I'm a total of 20 lbs down from January. I will continue what I'm doing until the pre-op diet. I would have been ok at the 12 mark. But personally, 28+ down was my goal. Let me say making the changes now will help in the post-op phase.
