  1. Oh my gosh! This is totally my struggle as well! I just posted something similar!

    I started at 215. I am 127 now, and I am 5 foot tall.

I keep saying that I KNOW I am thinner because of the sizes I can wear, but I feel like I am maybe a 12, instead of a 2 or 4.

I don't have any advice, but you are not alone in this!

  2. Hi veterans!

I had my surgery June 20, 2012. I started at a weight of 215 and I am five foot tall. When I began my weight loss, I set a goal for myself of 115 pounds. That was a weight I maintained for quite a while in college, and I was quite happy there. It was exactly a loss of 100 pounds, and i liked that nice round number. I am currently at 127 pounds, give or take. Since those skinny college days, I have had 3 children and 3 c sections... I cannot seem to get below that 127, and I work out every day and eat around 1200 calories each day. I have kind of big bones for such a short person, and i DO have a minimal amount of loose skin, maybe about 5 pounds worth... I am currently a size 2 or 4 petite pants, and a size small top. I feel good, look good, feel healthy... But I just cannot seem to get that 115 out of my head. I think I will feel like I failed if I do not see that 115! The surgeon's goal for me was 130ish, but I wanted 115 to have some wiggle room.

Have you faced this "problem?" What did you decide to do? Your thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

  3. I had Gerd and esophagus narrowing . Also previous surgery to open my lower esophageal muscle. I had the sleeve 5 1/2 months ago. Have lost 60 lbs. my Dr used a 56 bougie and I have no problems. I continue to take Protonix daily and have for years. Where there is a will there is a way!

Just curious as to why the surgeon used a 56. Do you know why he/she used such a big bougie?

  4. That's what I do for my workout. I am addicted to the Yoga section! It was a FINE' date=' FINE day when the snide little voice FINALLY chirped, "That's overweight!" My new goal is to hear the next snide remark... That's a good weight?[/quote']

Finally.... I'm normal according to the wii!

  5. Thank you... This is such pain that comes in waves. I just cannot believe it. I CANNOT believe it.

Spatters3, I remember when you posted about being diagnosed. How is treatment going? How much longer to you have to endure treatment?

  6. This site has been my main source of support since before I had my surgery on June 20, 2012. So far, I have lost 88 pounds, and I'm thrilled with the results. I have not had a terribly difficult time, but it has definitely been work. I am watching what I'm eating, and I am working out regularly. Overall, happy with the surgery so far.

I wanted to lose weight for myself, and my health, yes. I have a husband, and three small children who need me. A secondary reason that I wanted to lose weight was that my mother had cancer and was very worried about my high weight. So I am thankful that my mother has seen me lose weight, and is also happy with my loss.

My mother is now dying. Hospice is coming on Monday to meet with our family. My main coping mechanism has always been eating. I don't drink, I haven't smoked in 8 years. Now, I have not been eating to cope with stresses. My workouts have been helpful, especially my yoga routine.

So why am I posting this? I guess mostly because as I said, this site has been my main source of support for a year. I am distraught, and heartbroken and needed to put this out there. My family is extremely close. This loss will be devastating. I talk to my mom three or four times a day, and get together with her every weekend.

How are you coping with life's stressors? How are you coping with the big stresses of life? Any tips, help, or advice would be appreciated.

  7. So' date=' if my body is running short of some nutrient, I will get the feeling that I am running short on something. But what if you eat popcorn or a steak, instead? .[/quote']

Awesome post! Actually, it is exactly as I am feeling! This post will change some thoughts for me. It will. Thanks!

  8. Is anyone still around? If so, how are you doing now? Me: 5 foot tall Started at 215 Now: 130 Goal was 115, but I wonder how that will look... I'm pretty thin right now at 130. I have kind of large muscles and bones... I am going to take it 10 pounds at a time right now. My new goal right now is 122. I had the surgery on June 20, 2012.
