  1. What they gave me for pain never worked on gas so I only took it the first few nights. My incisions hurt some, but I rather not take any pain meds, its bearable to me.
  2. Liquids were really hard for me for about 1 week, then on the 8th day it was like magic, I could drink and drink. My diet is a little different from yours, my first week was juice and broth diluted with Water, this is my second week and its the same but without diluting + Protein shakes, and next week its blended Soups and creams things with the consistency of yogurt. Even though I find that I miss chewing I think my diet is giving my tummy the chance to heal really well and the gases are not bothering me. I find that sometimes I forget to sip and I gulp, and boy does that hurt! keep up the good work!
  3. Thank you, I am doing fantastic!!! I love my sleeve =)
  4. Thank you all for your words! I know my dad did not mean to hurt, and I am not letting any negativity hold me down. @Lissa- I don't work at a car loan company, why? Today is a great day, I got on the scale and realized I am down 10 lbs =) I can't wait to confirm it in my doctors scale on Tuesday. Who would have thought I would look forward to get on the doctor's scale? I love my sleeve!!! :biggrin2:
  5. I have had my sleeve for little over a week, and the person who started the process for me was my dad. My dad, is also a little overweight, but not much. He works out like mad so he can eat and drink alot, thats the system he has been using for some time now. I don't think thats a healthy lifestyle but I expect he knows that already. Ever since I started this journey my dad has been telling me that I talk about food too much, that I need to not only operate on my stomach but my head too. He does not understand that to me talking about food does not make me want to go out and binge or cheat because I am committed. Sure in the past I have gone on diets and then stopped and gained it all back, but this is different, I went through surgery knowing that I could have died, so I am 100% committed to this sleeve. It is hard not to talk about food here because that is all people in this house talk about anyways; every Sunday there is a big family dinner and they are not done clearing the table when they are talking about what they will cook next week. That been said, I have been here since July 27, 2011 and I have remained true to my commitment. Why am I going on and on? Because today my dad told me the I would fail the sleeve because according to him all I do is watch cooking shows. Two days ago I was his hero because of the way I have committed myself to lose weight and surgery and now I am going to fail. I know I am not going to fail, and maybe he didn't mean to make me feel bad, but its so hard to not feel hurt. Moments like this make me just want to go home so bad. Despite what anyone says, I know I will succeed, I have complete faith in Jesus, and this sleeve. So I am going to shake this hurt off, and go drink my broth, cause I have Water to drink and pounds to shed!
  6. Lets start this post surgery weight loss with a bang for my first challenge. CW 298 GW 278 That is 20 lbs =)
  7. My surgery was 1/10/12, and my diet currently is full liquids. My concern is that the 17th, this past Tuesday, I was so full all the time, it would take me 1 hour to drink my 4 oz of broth, but all of a sudden on Wednesday I can drink and drink no problem. I know in my head its not possible I have stretched my sleeve, but is this normal?
  8. From September to the en on October I was eating only veggies and meat, it was all cooked with as little fat as possible. All of November and December I was on Protein shakes 1-2 a day (no carbs in them) and 1 meal at night. The meal was the same as the previous months, veggies and meat.
  9. Thank you all =)
  10. I was sleeved last Tuesday, and was on my way home by Thursday. My first week was a little harder than what I expected because 5 days after surgery my period arrived and it left me so drained. This cycle kicked my butt, harder than surgery. Nevertheless, today is my 8th day post op and I feel great, the only thing I don't like is that I feel full all the time, but I know its because my poor tummy is still recovering. I've had gas pain, and been nauseaous, but I don't regret this decision for a minute. Cheers to a new life!!! :biggrin2:
  11. I have the nows food whey protein isolate, the unflavored kind. I am hating them now because I had to drink it as is, with no carbs, and I am in my native country until a month after surgery, here they don't have many carb friendly options. But I am planning on using it in Calorie Countdown milk if I don't become lactose intolerant, I love their milk, it only has 3 carb in 8oz, and their choco milk has 4 carbs in 8oz. Its the lack of variety thats killing me. Lucky for me I am not a coffee drinker, not much of a tea drinker either, I like my milk =)
  12. Thank you all! @andersonlj: loved what you said =) to the "New Me"
  13. So my surgery will be tomorrow early in the morning and I am just so nervous and excited! I am very sedentary, but today I can't seem to sit still for more than a few minutes, my dad told me I was making him dizzy. I have packed and repacked my bag half a dozen times, I have changed my purse a few times, I don't know what else to do. Maybe I should go to sleep, but I don't know if I will be able to sleep, I have to wake up at 3am to get ready. This surgery is so close I can smell it! Thank you Jesus for making this possible =)
  14. I just noticed you will have your surgery the day after mine, wohoo =)
  15. I have been good today, and I can't wait till the day I have my last shake. =)
  16. I started the second phase of my pre-op diet on Friday (1/6/2012), it consists of 4 Protein shakes with 0 carbs, my protein has 25gr of protein per shake. On Friday I cheated and ate some nuts, and I could only manage to drink 2 shakes. On Saturday I cheated again and ate 1 oz of meat , but I did manage to drink 3 shakes. On Sunday I did not cheat!!!! I drank 3 shakes. My surgery is tomorrow, and I am very glad I am not going to be drinking that many shakes anymore. My concern is that I have been losing too much weight! I have lost 6 pounds from Friday to Sunday. I know it might seem like a good thing, but Im worried its muscle I am losing, and I don't have much to start with. Has anyone had something like this happen before surgery? Any thoughts are welcome.
  17. My dad was supportive, he wanted me to have any type of surgery done since December 2010, I was the one who didn't want surgery. Thank you for the recovery wishes =)
  18. Thank you all for your words, I think i clicked 'like this' so much my button's broken. But I like what Lissa, thebionicbroad, Happylife and kgb said too
  19. This might be a stupid question, but what is gas pain like? I have read about it being there right after surgery, but I have no clue what gas pain is.
  20. My dad is a Doc so he went to my first appointment with me, the Surgeon wanted me to do the bypass because I so heavy, I said no thank you I want the sleeve. The funny thing is that my dad is like 'Paola, he's the doctor, he knows best', I just refuse to have my organs moved around more than necessary. So the Surgeon said he couldn't force me and that was that. I am very afraid of all the malabsorption, and the dumping. In my opinion the most important part of both surgeries is that your stomach will be much smaller and you will eat less; therefore, why not go for the one that is a little easier on you and your body?
  21. I told the Dr. I had been doing it since the end of October, he was impressed. I remember his secretary telling me during our first appt that sometimes people tried to do it for 3 weeks, but it was hard to do. The great thing is that because the surgery is in less than a week, I will only do the 4 Protein shakes with 0 carbs for like 4 days, instead of a whole week. I am so excited I have spent all night and day telling everyone I know about my surgery date.
  22. I guess it didn't matter because he set my surgery date for next Tuesday.
  23. I went to the Dr. today, and after seeing that I had lost 61 pounds he asked me when I wanted the surgery done; I said as soon as possible. The Dr. said I could have it done on Tuesday of next week, when I heard that I think my eyes bugged out and I couldn't say YES! fast enough. So after months of waiting for insurance, then bloodwork to be done the day is finally right around the corner =) Thank you Jesus, because you made this possible!!! My highest weight was 380 First Dr. appointment 368 Today!!! 307 I am soooooooooo happy =)
  24. My endoscopy results came in, and they say I have moderate chronic gastritis, would this affect my surgery in any way?
