    For Those Who Love Soda...

My doctor told me that if I can tolerate it, I can have it, in moderation as long as its diet and most of my fluid is of course still water. I think everyone's rules are different, but it doesn't "ruin" your sleeve the way it messes thing up with a bypass.

    Typical Calorie Intake

I am on mushies with some solids (today: yogurt, tuna, and maybe some chicken breast.) and hitting 600 cal a day pretty consistently, but I am not losing very fast. Should I be eating more?

    Confession...

Hey, I am doing the same and I think it is probably fine. My nutritionist said that the reason they don't want you to eat and drink is that the Fluid washes the food through your stomach so you don't feel full for as long. I do notice that I am a bit hungrier sooner when I ate and drank at the last meal, but as long as you're willing to deal with that it is fine...just don't compensate for the extra hunger by eating significantly more! It seems like you're doing great! Also, if my math is right, we were sleeved on the same day!
  5. I am a DD-DDD depending on brand, and as I have lost and gained weight a million times before, mine didn't change size (except I went from a 32DD to a 40DD!) My doctor says this is common for women who developed quite early--their cup size just is what it is. I am excited to get back to my 140-lb 34DD body....but we'll see how I feel when I actually get there. If they're REALLLY not going to shrink in proportion I might end up with a reduction.

    A Litte Discouraged...

You guys are all wonderful, thank you. Yesterday I ate more than I had before, but with LOTS of protein and it makes me feel really energetic, which makes walking easier. So, thank you!!! All is well.
  7. OK, I KNOW I am being stupid here. The thing is, a long time ago, I used to not eat--like, a lot. And it worked. I lost a lot of weight, as you might imagine, very quickly. (Of course, said year and a half of not eating for days at a time screwed up my metabolism, I gained it all back plus a lot, and here I am.) But today I am having an issue because the scale didn't move. I KNOW that I am being dumb, and surgery was only 10 days ago, but I keep seeing people who have lots tons of weight since surgery, and I feel like the scale should have moved at least a little today. When this happens, I am always tempted to just not eat, but part of the whole surgery thing for me is that I don't have to and shouldn't do that, and I am NOT doing that. But I just want to know that I haven't messed anything up. Did anyone else stall in their second week? Sigh. Thanks for reading.

I Fit In My Goal Dress!

haha, Lissa I know this trick because somehow I have about an inch of sternum, so everything is very cleavage-y on me. Without camisoles, I couldn't have a work wardrobe!
  10. My surgeon's office has a partnership with Bariatric Advantage and they MAKE you buy a 90 day supply of the Vitamins before they'll do surgery on you. But the problem is, I can't tolerate them, because they are mostly chewables and they make me throw up. (NOTHING else so far has done so--I can even take small pills with no problem already.) I have found stuff to approximate the amounts of the different items, that I CAN tolerate (gummy vitamins, etc.) So, I have a 90 day supply, minus one or two, of all of these vitamins. And I don't want them to go to waste! I know there are lots of people spending lots of money on vitamins, and I want to save you money, so would anyone like to buy these from me? I don't know what the regular price is, but if you'll pay shipping and give me an offer, I am happy to ship these off to you. I have: 1. Multi (orange flavor chewable) 2. Calcium Citrate (cinnamon flavor chewable) 3. Iron (passion fruit flavor chewable) 4. Probiotic (strawberry flavor chewable) 5. sub lingual B12 (cherry, I think) 6. D3 Send me a message! Alex

    Everything I Eat

I think the great thing about this is that there will come a day when you can have a french fry or two....and the awesome thing is, you probably wont want more than that, because you'll have wonderful healthy habits. So, the things we love now can be splurge foods later, but the amount will be tiny and we won't do it often. Right now, I am just focusing on new, healthy habits, so that I can eat small quantitites of things I love later, with no worries or problems. Also, wow! You've lost 45 lbs. I am hoping to be you sometime in the next couple months....
  12. I just flew back yesterday from Texas, where I used to live and ended up having my sleeve, to Boston, where I now live. I had been walking around and mostly ok before flying day, but I was SO exhausted by the end of the day yesterday. Flying really takes it out of you. When our bodies are healthy, we just associate our fatigue after flying with a "long day" of travel but it also puts a lot of stress on your body. Luckily, my wonderful fiancee was with me, and I got a wheelchair, which helped, and all the airline and airport personnel were really nice. But even today after a long sleep and a pain pill (my first pain meds since day after surgery) I am so SO tired. Did this happen to anyone else? How long before you weren't so freaking tired? I have to work!!

I Fit In My Goal Dress!

YAY! Also it is super cute. If you put a tank top under it you could definitely wear it right now.

    Today Is The Day!

WOW you're so impressive. Right after surgery, I couldn't get CLOSE to 40 oz a day of liquid in no matter how hard I tried. Congrats on everything, I hope you're feeling great.

11 Days Post Op And Regretting Decision.

I got sleeved two days after you and am having mostly liquids with a few mushies. I haven't thrown up once. Even if you do, it won't last long since there isnt much in your stomach at any one point. Stay positive! You're doing great.
  16. please hold on! It CAN happen. This is just a setback, not the end. Take care of yourself!
  17. I started my surgery journey in Houston, where I used to live, and after a lot of thought, etc. chose to go ahead and have the surgery there even though I now live up north in Boston. (I am self-pay, and in Boston it was going to be 42k JUST for surgery, no pre or post-op included.) I am so glad that I went with the Davis Clinic in Houston. Dr. Primomo was great, and the process was easy even though I had to do all my testing in Boston and get it sent. I had surgery first thing in the morning on the 20th, and am recovering in a hotel with my mom. The pain is not so bad, which is good because the pain killer makes me feel full since it is a liquid. The worst has been gas, but I am walking a lot, eating super concentrated Protein broth my mom made for meand applejuice. I have also found this ginger tea (all herbal) that is meant for digestive health:it's amazing! However, I still feel really tired and the gas is very painful at times. I was scared at first because I didn't feel like I was getting in enough liquid or protein in these first few days, but I am very swollen so I know it will come. Today I am just relieved that I don't feel as if a truck hit me, which I did yesterday. I am walking a lot in the halls of the hotel and I can even do stairs, a little bit. I am nervous about trying dairy because of the gas: I know some people really can't tolerate it. Does anyone have any suggestions? What did you try? In any case, Hi everyone! I'm new here. but I've been reading a long time. Here's to lots of changes ahead!
  18. I am only five days off surgery, and I just had part of a smoothie, with Protein in it--it was frozen, like a slushy consistency. I think I must have had 4-5oz of it (it was in a small mug that was partway/mostly full). Now my stomach is full but not uncomfortable. But i'm worried that I ate to much and/or am not getting restriction....was anyone else able to eat more than they felt like they should in the first few days? Note: this is the first thing I have really eaten except for a couple spoonfulls of yougurt or Soup, and I was hungry, so I know it is good to eat when hungry but I am scared I had too much. Does it get better with full foods? Or have I really messed up?
  19. I am just worried I ate too much and will not be able to lose weight. I know I'm being irrational...but...crap.

    Twonderland!

GOOD JOB! The lady's name is something like newgrandmother.
  21. I am not sure, but I think this varies a lot from surgeon to surgeon. I have five incisions, and they are really small, and none is that high. I think they all do it differently.

    Newbie

Hi, Jewels! I just had my surgery, and I too sometimes wondered why I was fat in the years as I was gaining weight (from 127 up to 234 from the time I was fifteen to 26, with a lot of fluctuations.) One thing to think about might be WHEN you eat what you eat. I found that even when I ate healthy, I was eating once a day and therefore consuming way too much at a time and really hurting my body. I think you should definitely talk to your doctor about a supervised diet plan, but WLS might be an option, too, especially since you have other health problems to think about (I am lucky not to have that.) Take care, and do lots of research! There are lots of wonderful options.

    Got My Date W0Ot Wo0T! +Intro

Hey, SkinnyB, I LOVE love the username. I just had my surgery, and a lot of people commented on my positive attitude toward it, and said that would help. I feel like you are SO super positive. I know you'll do wonderfully and I'm excited to read your posts. Also, your pic is SO pretty.
  24. Hi, everyone--thanks for all the support. I am getting better. Gas is not as bad and I had a bite of yogurt, even. I can't tell if it was really bad because I had so little, but I am going to try more later. I am drinking Water with lemon and looking forward to my favorite Soup tomorrow. I will keep posting...thanks for all the ideas and encouragement!

    Bmi Over 60 I Am 4'11 Questions

I know that the sleeve is the first step of the Duodenal switch--you could get it first and then see how you do, and your doctor might be able to do an RNY for you then if you still need one. At my clinic, they told me, they are finding more and more people are happy and healthy with just the sleeve and no second half of their duodenal switch.
