  1. i am 59 years old and have been overweight all my life. Yes, i only wish i had done it sooner. <3 My highest weight was 328 in November 2011. That is when i started looking into WLS. With my wonderful husbands help, we went on high protein/low carb eating... all tests and appointments completed in March 2012... Surgery was May 2, 2012 and my surgery weight was 294...((-34 pounds pre-op)) i now weigh 244...... i take my measurements on the 2nd of each month....As of August 2, i have lost 50 inches total.... ((yes, 50 pounds and 50 inches since surgery)) i am sorry i rambled on and on.... i am just so happy with my WLS that i tend to go on and on.... yes- i would do it again... good luck with your decision... tjmom/Sandy
  2. sorry been so long since update...weather beautiful and just been busy. i am walking more and more every day. Still need to do it mostly in the house (need immediate access to sitting down) but i did walk with my husband outside to the end of driveway and back... i have been in a stall for about ... depending on Water retention i have been playing yo-yo with a couple pounds...so decided to measure. Results: since surgery i have gone from 294 to 244.5 ((down 49.5 lbs)) and have lost a total of 50 inches... ((-9.5 off bust .. -4.5 & -5 off my L & R thighs.. to name a few)) 49.5 lbs and 50 inches is a small child!!! what a wonderful way to start my weekend! I love my sleeve.

    Who Just...

fantastic! great job! keep up the good work!
  4. well, i commented at 3 weeks that this had NOT yet happened to me. anyway, i am now 13 weeks post op and I still sweat. i guess i am not one of the lucky ones. i am so glad it worked for some, just wish it had for me too...
  5. i started out confined to a motorized chair or wheelchair....due to 2 back surgeries & doctor "wanting" to replace both my knees and one hip because of arthritis... i had been wheelchair bound for years... i was 328 pounds...diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, asthma, and chronic fatigue to name a few issues. talking to the psych doctor he asked me "what do you want to achieve by having WLS ? ... i said "better health, talk a walk with my husband" when i started the process in November 2011 until surgery on May 2nd...i lost 34 pounds... so surgery date i weighed 294... about a month ago, i started walking around my kitchen island ... then added down the hall and back... i have up'd my out of chair time til almost 7pm... as of this morning i weigh 249....so down 45 pounds since surgery (13 weeks) and overall total of 79 lbs... i also went for a walk down the driveway this morning with my husband !!! <3 ... a short walk but a walk none the less... life is great and getting better every day!
  6. thanks for the reminder that "muscle weighs more than fat"... so as i lose weight but gain muscle ... i stall! (hits forehead with palm) i can't wait til i measure tomorrow!
  7. thank you Tracy.... i am in a stall again but i haven't given up on my walking... i know stalls happen, so not allowing the scale to dampen my spirits.... i am able to walk longer now, except when i am cooking... standing in one place for any length of time is not good... My back starts to fail me and begins spasming & after it spasms , i am in my chair the rest of the night...... before it begins to fail & spasm, i use my chair for cooking but then up and about rest of night... so, technically i walk from waking up to bedtime except for cooking dinner... woo hoo!!! i am in a stall right now (been going on for about a week to 10 days) .... not fun but expected.... tomorrow is my day to take measurements, so looking forward to those numbers! thank you again for all your support...
  8. ***update*** i am now 13 weeks post-op and am able to be out of my wheelchair, walking around the house, from when i wake up until about 6pm... so, when you all plan a get together, i might not have to wait a whole year before i join... loving my sleeve!

    Sleep Apnea...question

i have sleep apnea...i had surgery on May 2, 2012... i was really bad, so tired because i was not getting into REM sleep mode...there were days at work, i wasn't sure if i could make it through the day without a nap (or falling asleep at my deck)... so, when i got my CPAP machine about 8 years ago, i could feel the difference in about 3 days... no longer felt like i needed a nap... even now, if i lay down to read, i use my machine in case i fall asleep... i took my machine with me when i had surgery per doctors request ... sincerely surgery, i have lowered the pressure but still use it... will i ever get to stop? i don't know if i would stop even if told i could....not unless they did another sleep study and proved to me, on paper, that i no longer stopped breathing while i slept... its nothing to ignore, people die from it...
  23. today i walked... Lissa, you make sense about giving my body to relax... when i got up this morning the chair never crossed my mind. I was sitting in the kitchen eating roasted chicken breast for Breakfast before i even realized i was not in my chair....felt so good for it to "just happen"... wake up and walk!!!
