  1. Good morning everyone! I too wish I would have had the surgery sooner. I think of all the things I missed because of my weight and it saddens me. But the past is gone - great things in the future.

Some time I will share my story (if you don't already know where I started) but for now .... have a fabulous Friday and enjoy your weekend!

  2. funny thing about being cold: Before my surgery, I was always hot...only used a sheet at night; never wore a coat, if anything it was a vest; seemed like I would never cool down. Then I went to the WLS seminar and was told that along with hair loss, my body temperature would fluctuate... I could become "cold".... Unlike the Hair loss, that stops, body temperature does not usually change back.... Well, you can imagine, as I sat there fanning myself with the seminar paperwork, how excited I was for that "side effect"....

Well, here I sit, 6+ months post-op, 72 pounds lighter, thinning hair and still "fanning" myself because I continue to be hot all the time....

I so wanted to be one of those people that had to, "put on more layers of clothing".... easier to put ON rather than take OFF clothing... and much much better on the eyes! :)

you all have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow ... stay warm (the layered look is in), make new memories and cherish the time with your families !

  4. I am so very sorry for your loss. and listening to your MIL comments made my "mother bear" tendencys arise (and i don't even know you , except here) all i know is if i was there, i would corner her and not let her go until she was shaking! Does she not know how precious life is? Your mothers and your baby!!! You have enough on your mind and in your heart for her to bother you. it seems to me, the only reason they came to the funeral was: "it wouldn't look good if the didn't & to grill you about your sister in law" ... not to support you in your time of need. . .

I am a MIL, and i am ashamed to have her in a category with me, that i am proud to be involved...

My heartfelt understanding goes out to you for your MIL troubles (i had the same with my first MIL)... thank goodness for my second, she taught me, by example, how to act when i became one...

Again, sorry about your loss, and gentle tummy rub for your baby.. ((hope i didn't offend you in any way))

  5. Everyone needs to listen to their surgeons instructions ofcourse' date=' my NUT told me it was the accidental SWALLOWING factor was the reason for the no gum. I have been chomping down everyday for 6 months. Orbit White Bubblemint. I <3 gum.[/quote']

OMG that is also MY gum of choice!!! I eat every 3-3.5 hours (sometimes i have to make myself eat, because i am not hungry but am/was diabetic so need to control my blood sugar with food. (before surgery i easy taking 2 pills & 3 Bietta shots a day and blood sugar was between 260 - 329----after surgery NO pills & NO shots with blood sugar between 100 - 126) ... i use a straw and chew gum...

    November pre-op weight 328

Surgery May 2 Surgery weight 294

    today weighed 231.2

just saying - everyone is different !! we all do what we do and no one needs to YELL at anyone. What works for one might not work for another...but if it works for you, it's not wrong, no matter what. Happy losing everyone!

  6. Ok April buddies... here are my 6 month before and afters! Holy moly' date=' I never thought I'd be posting these!

It's a little strange though, psychologically speaking, to look at these pictures. On the one hand, I feel like I look totally different, but on the other hand, I don't see much of a change. I know, I'm crazy, but seriously, the emotional/psychological side to this whole experience is really intense!

    Hope everyone is doing well![/quote']

    +++++++++++++++

BabewiththePower you are doing FANTASTIC !!!! Your pictures speak a thousand words, and are saying ""You are rockin your sleeve"" Congratulations!!! Keep up the good work.

  7. When I need my "crunchy salty cheesey" fix....i take 1 slice of American cheese - cut into 16 little squares - place on parchment paper - put in microwave for 1 minute.... wala - homemade cheese nips !!!

They are so go, and they store great in a plastic sandwich bag...

Seriously they are very good! I was a big Cheetos and Cheese Nip eater... this satisfies that "moment", for me.

  8. Just wanted to tell you the motorized chair has dust on it! I haven't used it at all in about 2 months. My back was hurting so bad a couple weeks ago, when i got out of bed I walked right to my chair...Sat in it...then just smiled! I got up and walked away! the reason i was so sore, was i am now doing our house cleaning...BECAUSE I CAN!!!! so i smiled all day about being sore from "doing something" instead of being so heavy my back could not handle the pull of my tummy fat!

I have lost over 50 inches total from my body. I measure:

    L & R ankle

    L & R calf

    L & R thigh

    butt

    waist

    chest

    L & R wrist

    L & R forearm

    L & R upper arm

    neck

Surgery was May 2 - so the 2nd of each month I take my measurements. ((just from my waist I have lost 6 inches)) ... so when the scale doesn't move, I know my body is shifting and catching up with my new lifestyle..

I have gone from a 28 (all elastic) pull up jeans to a "real" jeans with zipper and button in a size 16 or 18 depending on the manufacture...

Life is good! thank you all for listening !

    Sandy

  9. Congratulations to all of you for your weight loss.....and.....good luck to you that are scheduled for sleeve surgery... It is a fantastic tool to getting healthy again.

I am 59..... 5'3" and started at 328 (pre-surgery) and 294 on day of surgery (May 2) & today the scale said 234... ((94 total & 60 since surgery)) I feel so good.

If some of you don't know about my story, i started out in a wheelchair (back-knees-hip-hands arthritis) my weight did not allow me the ability to walk, my body would just collapse & buckle. I would end up falling after about 10-15 steps.... WELL: I no longer use my wheelchair around the house at all. I use a walker when we go shopping because there are times that my back still gives out and when i have to sit down, its like right now-no time to look for a chair. So that works best....I don't even think about the chair anymore and i had been using it for over 5 years.

Sorry to go on and on, but i just want you all to know the surgery works. Yes there are bad days, when foods don't sit well at all. I had diarrhea for a long time and NUT said to add a banana every day.. OMG - There are SO MANY carbs in a banana!!! but if it works, i will continue. (started Wednesday)

    Rambling again... sorry :)

you all have a fantastic weekend!
