    I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!

With the size of my sleeve I can eat between 3 and 4 oz comfortably. I didn't eat a whole lot of any 1 thing but I did over do it by eating the things I shouldn't. This was at a family gathering. I would be doing a lot worse if I had these kind of foods at home! The sugar free pie was in lieu of birthday cake at my insistence. Some family members weren't thrilled about it but hey, it's my birthday so get over it!!! Seriously, if it weren't for food I don't think my family would ever get together. I'm sure that's partially the reason I have the weight problems that I do. I know that I can't make them eat healthier but I can request healthier choices be made available for me. Now...if I could just stick to those healthier choices! Ugh

    I Was Sooo Bad Yesterday!

I am making sure that I chew pretty thoroughly. My doctor made my sleeve bigger than average and I have been tolerating soft solids very well since about week 2. But I do know I def should not have had the french fries!
  3. Being only a month out I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find much I could eat in a social situation. I am surprised how well my sleeve is tolerating everything I have attempted to eat. I'm still supposed to be doing mushies but I've been able to eat shrimp, chicken and even some ground beef, all chewed very thoroughly. This brings me to another thought...while in the hospital after surgery my doc tells me he made my sleeve bigger than he normally does because I don't have a lot of weight to lose. I wonder if that is why my sleeve is able to tolerate what it has. That is certainly the reason I can eat 3 to 4 ounces with no problems. Hopefully I will continue to lose weight with this 'bigger' sleeve!

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...

Thanks clk. I can def get in more liquid than say eggs, chicken or fish but I'm still able to eat 3 to 4oz of that stuff. We went to Movie Tavern and I ate a whole skewer or shrimp, a skewer of chicken and the veggies. It's helping me get my protein and nutrients in, that's for sure. I am thankful I can get more down just for that simple fact since I see so many struggling to get in the amount of protein and liquids that they should.

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...

Thanks Thomas! I was wondering if I was the only one. How has your weight loss been? How has it progressed as opposed to others who have a 'normal' sized sleeve? I have been slightly worried I may not lose as much or I may lose at a slower rate seeing as I can eat more. Does that even make any sense though? I can eat more than others who have been sleeved but still, I am only eating up to 4 oz when my stomach used to hold 4+ cups!

I've Eaten Out Twice This Weekend...

It holding more food is worrisome to me. I certainly didn't ask the dr. to make it bigger! Sure, I guess it will be helpful in the long term as in I will be able to eat more like a normal person but eating more usually = weighing more Ugh, once this weight comes off I am def going to have to focus on continuing to eat right and exercise!
  8. This morning I fit into some size 16 jeans and a top I haven't dared wear in a while because of my fat stomach. I'm sure I can't fit all 16s but it's my first size down and I'm so excited I'll just wear this pair like they're going out of style! :.D

No Motivation For 6 Month Sup. Diet

I absolutely had the same problem! I didn't buckle down until about month 4. The thing that helped me the most was replacing one meal a day with a protein shake and trying to make the other meals as healthy as possible. I didn't lose very much, like 11 pounds but I got my approval. Do what you can and try not to have any gains. You don't have a set amount to lose, just do not gain anything. That's what my doctor's office told me. Try to get in the mindset of being healthy and looking and feeling better. You def will after your sleeve! I am less than a month out and I feel terrific! I hope everything works out for you. Let me know how it goes.

First Meal Where My Stomach Has Felt Normal!

For me I think it is the acid controlling meds that are helping. I have been taking my pill at different times and with different food or drink for the past couple of days and I can tell the difference in the way my stomach feels and sounds. Maybe I need to take it twice a day and I can avoid the discomfort and sounds all together. I think I'll call the doctor and get his opinion!
  13. I'm 3.5 weeks out and pretty much had gotten used to the odd feelings associated with eating. However, I just ate some tilapia and mashed potatoes and not one twinge, gurgle or anything! I assumed I'd have the discomfort for a while when I eat and drink. It feels good to feel normal!

    Stall Already?

I lost about 15 pounds in my 1st two weeks and have been stalled for the past week and a half but am noticing inches gone. I was able to fit in a size smaller jeans today! Don't worry too much about what the scale says, its all about how you feel. I've decided not to weigh myself again until my next follow up with the doctor. That scale is evil! Plus, dropping several pounds overnight is not only unlikely but also unhealthy! Your body needs time to process the major changes it is going through.

    Dumping With The Sleeve?

Maybe try sugar free or no sugar added ice cream. Blue Bell makes a no sugar added Dutch Chocolate ice cream that I was surprised to find has 4g protein and 6g fiber per half cup!

    Coffee Caffenated

They gave me Starbucks coffee, black of course, in the hospital. I thought I was in Heaven! I am almost 4 weeks out now and drinking about 2 cups a day with a tablespoon of half and half and some artificial sweetener. No problems here. I specifically asked about coffee before I decided on whether to do my surgery or not. I think it would have been a deal breaker for me if I could never have my coffee again!

First Meal Where My Stomach Has Felt Normal!

I'm wondering if the Protonics I'm taking had anything to do with it. I forgot to take my pill in the morning so I took it before lunch. My stomach was kind of upset in the afternoon but by dinner it was fine, perfect actually. Are you taking anything for acid Cheles?

    Any Texas Gastric Sleeve Buddies?

Bedford girl here! Sleeved 1/30/12. I've seen the posts about Dr. Kim and really wish I had told more people to stay away from him! I had bad experiences with his office, they are so unprofessional! And forget getting a live person if you ever have an issue and need to call them. You have to leave a message for them to call you back. Plus, they force their brand of protein for your pre op diet down your throat at a cost of $100 a week. That didn't sit well with me so, I switched doctors on a friend's advice. Had my surgery done by Sina Matin out of Baylor Grapevine. He has been wonderful. Met with him twice before surgery and he visited me every morning I was in the hospital. He was worried about me so wouldn't let me go home the next day due to vomiting after surgery. I really felt like he had my best interests at heart and took great care of me. Anyone seeing Dr. Kim or any other doctor who doesn't seem to remember you or care at all when you walk in...it's not too late to switch!

    Question For Ladies Only

I think your body reacts to major changes such as changes in your diet and weight loss. I'm on the depo provera shot and usually never have a period because of it but right toward the end of my 2 week pre op diet I started bleeding and have been on and off ever since, about a month. Def ask you doctor. Maybe some form of birth control could help if you're not already taking something.

Prayinng I Can Go Home :(

Sorry to hear you're having to stay in the hospital. That happened to me too. They kept me for 3 nights because I couldn't keep anything down. They said I probably had a reaction to the anesthesia. Hopefully you can go home soon but at least you're where they can take good care of you. I know there is no place like home but if you get dehydrated you'll end up right back in the hospital. Don't rush yourself! Try the popsicles if they have them. That was the only thing that I could stomach at first. I think the cold helped with the extra swelling. Good luck!
