    3 Yr Bandiversary

Toot your horn!!! I love reading long term success stories, it is very encouraging to the rest of us that are jus beginning.
  3. Everyone I have shared it with has been very supportive. My family knows and a couple of people at work. I expected some weirdness from it...but surprisingly a couple admitted they were interested in the surgery but never pursued it. They asked me plenty of questions. Some of our friends found out on Easter when I didn't partake of the feast and ate soup instead. They were supportive as well and asked all of the common curiosity questions. I kind of figure the more people that know...the more I will stay on track and can't quit. Not sure if that makes sense.

    What Would You Do??

Passion - I had a full blown cold or something when I went for surgery. I couldn't believe that I woke up that morning coughing and a sore throat. I was worried they would turn me away and reschedule. Which they did not. After surgery I woke up feeling better in regard to my cold than when I went in. I guess the antibiotic they give you through the IV and the good clean oxygen they flushed my lungs with took care of it for me. I was no longer coughing and could breathe fine....my husband thought it was kind of ironic. Me too...lol

    My Lap-Band Journey :)

I have to say...I wish I had nipped this in the bud when I was 17 years old. Now I am 36 years old and I have spent the last 20 years on every fad diet known to man. Not to mention that I have developed overweight issues such as Type II diabetes.
  7. So - I am recently banded and I wonder what happens when you get stuck...you don't choke? I guess you can still breath....also how do you bring it back up if that happens? Just curious.

    Prequalifiers- I'm Worried.

Diabetes, PCOS, Sleep Apnea...just to name a few.
  9. My insurance covered some because of the Hernia repair. My out of pocket is is $5500.
  10. YES!!! I am lucky to get in a bottle of water in all day. I am used to drinking 7-10 a day. I am only 6 days Post Op...but I am worried about dehydrating. I try to sip all day...but there really isn't enough hours in a day to to sip 64 ounces. I would love to hear about what others are doing.

    Day 5 Post Op

I'm lucky to get one bottle water down a day. but I have a popsicle each day and a protein shake (that takes me all day to drink) and hope that those hydrate me some. I feel your pain. Family came over yesterday and my hubby made brisket and ribs and everyone brought all kinds of sides. I thought I would be drooling...but surprisingly didn't really want it. my mother-in-law made me some pureed soup that was so delicious. I had a few bites and felt satisfied. I agree...to know how much I would have been eating...it truly is an eye opener.
  12. I agree...going back the next day would be too soon. You may be okay physically to sit in a chair all day but you will most likely be miserable. Strangely I had the surgery on Tuesday and Thursday was my worst day. But I woke up on Sunday and I felt like a NEW woman! No more tummy pain just the occasional phantom shoulder pain.
  13. Hope you are feeling much better...It has been three days for me and I felt a little normal today...getting better each day.

    So Hard To Eat

I feel the same way. It takes me all day to get a bottle of Water down. Some days I can't even get the whole bottle down. I don't want to dehydrate...so trying popsicles too.

    Oh No!!! Bad News

Sorry guys having issues posting - just wanted to let you all know that it was only cyst...nothing to worry about!
  16. This may sounds strange...but I noticed I was a little flushed yesterday....but no fever. I didn't think anything about it...but when I looked in the mirror this morning...it's a little worse. I appears as if I have a sunburn. I have had allergic reactions to meds before...but that usually starts on the chest. I don't have any splotches on my chest. Has anyone else experienced this and should I be worried?

    Now I Wait!!

I had those thoughts the day before surgery...it was becoming more and more real. I got the surgery on Tuesday and everything went well. I'm still not hungry and I had to force myself to watch some broth and a popsicle. I do feel better this morning...but not 100%

    Finally Post-Op!!!

Nick - You will most likely feel 100% better tomorrow. I had my surgery around noon yesterday and I was quite miserable with chest pain and left arm pain. But as of today...I don't have it anymore...just a weird dull ache in my tummy. I keep telling myself the same thing - that this was a good decision and will help me reach my goal. It really has helped to read everyone's challenges on this forum....so I kind of knew what to expect.
  22. I bought the liquid Vitamins at the Vitamin Store and had my Metformin squished to liquid at the pharmacy. Does any know that if I add these to a protein shake will it loose its potency? They both taste pretty yucky taken plane.

    Liquid Vitamins And Metformin

Thanks B52....that is good to know. I would rather swallow a small pill then take a mouthful of it squished up...so nasty.
