Hello everyone! I'm excited to get the news that I have the green flag for surgery this month. However' date=' im wondering if anyone on this forum has had Dr. Reily or Wilkenfield for their band surgery. If so please give me some feedback.Thank you!!!!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />[/quote']
Hi, I had Dr. Reilly back in April. I only met him once and then once again before surgery. I don't even think I saw him after surgery. My opinion of him is neutral because he wasn't nice or mean, just kind of there. He did a good job as far as my scars are minimal and my recovery was pretty easy. Good Luck!!

Thanks! I guess I need more fill... I can eat 2 tacos and a little beans/rice
-
How much can you eat? Compared to something like a McDonald's happy meal or tacos? I'm on my 5th fill and still I feel like I maybe can eat more than I should be able to... Thanksgiving dinner was delicious, but I ate a little of EVERYTHING lol Only gained .6 lbs though
-
I used to be able to eat fried until a few days ago when I got my 5th fill. I tried half of one yesterday, chewed and chewed, swallowed, and it would not go down until I drank a lot of Water. It hurt, though... No more fried for me.. But it's okay, they're not one of my things.
-
I still have not thrown up, but have had 2 or 3 timed where I realize I didn't chew well enough or took too big of a bite and it does suck. What I do is take deep breaths, walk around, and drink Water to force it down... After the first couple timed, though, it is really hard to forget to eat conservatively so it won't happen again!

Good job!! :-)

Hi' date=' i'm new to this site and I have a lot of questions before I get my lap band! Yesterday I completed my nutrition appointment, EKG testing, and pulminary testing. Everything lookedgood!
My stats:
Height: 4'11"
Weight: 198.5
Jeans/pants: 16
Shirts: XL
Jacket:XXL
The questions I have are:
Is recovery very difficult?
How often do you throw up or does food get stuck on lap band?
What does it feel like when your band is too tight?
How much weight can I expect to lose?
What foods can I not eat?
Thanks in advance![/quote']
Now, 4 months later everything is pretty easy. I don't eat many carbs and im at 177.4! Pants haven't gone down too much, still at 14/16 & large/xl shirts.

I know exactly what you mean. I was beginning to think there was something wrong because I could eat anything. After my second fill' date=' I finally had some things get stuck. I was almost relieved. At least now I know that things are making progress. It looks like some comments you just need to overlook.[/quote']
So glad for you! :-) & yes, I am overlooking all the ridiculous comments since some people didn't understand my post to begin with lol Now im on my 4th fill and losing a pound per week.. And still eating my taco once a week LOL
-
Saratin... Thank you! My thoughts exactly!! :-)

okay people, stop reading into it so much, if you have no sense of humor then don't respond! :-) Anyway, I got my 4th fill of .5 cc and im almost completely in the "green zone"!! Down a total of 22 lbs in 4 months! Good luck everyone!

After 2 large fills and No difference, I had a 3rd fill a couple weeks ago and started feeling like I actually have lap band! Took a large bite of a Breakfast taco with potatoes, chewed fast, and swallowed.. and holy crap! I started patting my chest for it to go down, then swallowed really hard and it was STUCK! I was going 70 on the freeway so I couldnt just throw it up, so I drank my Snapple and swallowed hard each time and it finally went down, but my whole body was shaking from being in panic mode. It sounds weird, but I was relieved to have an episode because I was so discouraged before after 3 months of not losing much weight. Now, I'm down 5 lbs since my 3rd fill 2 or 2.5 weeks ago. I have another fill on the 22nd and I'm excited!

It actually takes a few fills, a month apart each, to start eating tiny portions. Be patient and don't focus on all the weight coming off too fast because you don't want a lot of loose skin and unnecessary stretch marks.< /p>

My surgery was 04/25/12, first fill on 05/23/12, 2nd fill 3 Weeks later. At surgery I had 3 cc even though I had a hernia repair also. First fill was .5 cc and I felt no difference/restriction, then my 2nd fill I got 1 cc and still no restriction with a total of 4.5 cc. Can't wait for another fill to get started in losing weight!
-
I didn't cry at all after surgery, the pain was bearable as long as I stayed on my pain medication every 4-6 hours. Once, I was going outside the day after my surgery and I could only make it out to the porch and I got winded and had to sit back down. That was frustrating, but realistic. Good luck to you, it will get, better and you will get stronger!

I was banded on 11/2011' date=' currently have 5.5cc in my band & have had restriction the last 4-5 months. I've lost 55lbs & really happy about that. However, I have really bad reflux & can't lay down flat. Should I take some Fluid out or should I be worried that it slipped????[/quote']Great job on losing 55 lbs! I would definitely say you're too tight if you're having bad reflux.. However that doesn't mean your band slipped. Usually when a band slips, it means you can eat more.
-
My first fill (.50 cc) on May 23rd wasn't painful at all! It also didn't offer much restriction. I did notice that my band was tighter in the morning and I could eat about 10-20% less than before, but still a lot of food and still hungry between meals. My nurse measured what I
already had and discovered I had 3 cc with surgery and she added .5, so then I had 3.5 cc. I went for my second fill June 11th and it was faster and easier this time and she gave me 1 cc and told me most people "green zone" within 3-5 fills. Now with 4.5 cc after 2 fills I know that there is something inside of me lol I can eat only a happy meal sized portion now and have to wait an hour or so to eat in the morning. I haven't lost more weight yet, though, because of poor decisions like actual happy meals and alcohol and Sobe drinks. My short term goal is to lose 15 lbs and be at 170 by August 1st. Hopefully ill have another fill soon!
-
29 lbs in 6 Weeks?! That is AWESOME!! You're doing great! Im only down 15 lbs in 6 Weeks! I always tell people I only lose 1-2 lbs per week because its healthier that way... Keep up the good work!

I had my surgery last week but haven't gotten a fill yet. I see so many of you going in and getting multiple fills or having some taken out. Does it cost everytime? I have BCBS Anthem and haven't checked if I get any free fills or if I have to pay from fill #1.I have BCBS also, I pay $15 each time I come in, regardless what Ira for.
