How Often Does Your Doctor Fill?
judych replied to Ami Faught Crittenden's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i can imagine how frustrated you must feel now. i hope that you start to lose weight again quickly. i dont understand either why you arent losing now, especially as you lost so much before... which by the way was just wonderful. do you have a dietician ?? perhaps talking with her/him would help you? -
thats wonderful.. have you got any gas pain?? how long in hospital were you??
-
lorabeth... how frustrating for you.. i would cry. its really hard to juggle husband, children and other commitments so you can have the free time to get this done. i do feel for you . i live in a small town, i have to travel some distance to get to a hospital.. but thats no big deal. we are retired and dont have children at home now.. although in the past with big surgeries ive had the issues of trying to tie everything in together to make it work. i do hope that it works out for you, that they get the part they need today. thinking positive for you .
-
i hope they last you as well..its going to be interesting to hear what my specialist says about it all next week. i have lots of questions to ask him. im hoping desperately to be done in march. because im in australia, im not sure what the pre op requirements are... or how long i have to wait before surgery. i hope it is in march. regarding soda pop?? if my dr says no... then i dont. its that simple. there are many wonderful drinks that i can think of without sugar and without gas.

amen to this -
i dont live near burger king or any other fast food outlets so i cant buy them... the soda poured over ice and leaving for a moment sounds really good to me.
-
Stace.... i will be thinking good thoughts for you. im so pleased that its arrived at last. you will do really well im sure. good luck
-
good luck to you teeny43
-
you are lucky then. i reckon thats one item that i will find hard to let go of. i guess it all depends on the dr.. and of course, how much we can handle ourselves.
-
ahhh... now thats what i want to hear. lol. i dont want to give it up... i will have to wait and see how i cope with it i guess. thanks for sharing this. im not sure if im seeing a dietician ... i reckon i probably will be.

..sometimes coworkers and friends and even family members are better left out of knowing. im not telling anyone in my family, not telling any friends either. onlly my husband knows and we have agreed to be silent on the subject. it seems that everyone wants to be an expert.. So the gas does hurt?? is that long term?/

way to go... thats marvellous.. makes it all well worth the lifestyle change -
... this is something i want to know about .... can we have fizzy drinks after surgery at all?? i love zero coke... and other diabetic drinks, not that i have a lot of them but i do have them here and use them daily.
-
..i see you mentioning the south beach diet here. its just a marvellous way of eating. ive tried it before , wanted to keep it up but my motivation wasnt as strong. im hoping after my surgery to come back to it. Did you dr want you to do Phase 1 or was it your idea?
-

How Long Does The Gas Pain Last???
judych replied to sweetsoutherngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
its just unreal to think that gas that was introduced into the abdo for surgery would travel to the shoulder. and its always the same according to posts here. i wonder... just off the top of my head.. would someone massaging that area help to dissipate it?? has anyone had someone massage those painful areas on the shoulder ?? -
... thanks for that info. so the gas is introduced?? to give the surgeon more room to operate?? thats interesting. it probably happens with more surgeries than we know.i hope your issues with pain from gas go very quickly. it must be frustrating to not be able to move some of the gas.

i dont have a date yet but will have in ten days. i see my specialist then. im hoping that he can do me fairly soon ... i want to be on my feet again and confident with my new eating plan before winter sets in. i live in southern australia.you mentioned about having to sleep propped up?? i think that was mentioned here, that that position is more comfy. also that liquid tynenol is perhaps better... someone else will verify that for you. i know that others here have taken the liquid one. im not sure if i can buy liquid tynenol here.... im going to check that out. you sound like you are doing really well, apart from discomfort sleeping. if it were me, i would just be prepared to sleep like you have been doing, until you get more relief. you have plenty of time to enjoy your new bed. by the way, it sounds just wonderful. theres nothing like sprawling out in a king sized bed... luxurious. it sounds like you are doing everything right. even moving around to help get rid of the gas. i did ask here why the gas is present?? is it introduced for the surgery?? i have no idea, but it seems that pain from gas is a major thing . best wishes with your recovery. looking forward to hearing how you go.. keep us posted. Everything is important enough to share. People like me are benefiting so much from it all.
