Is this what happens to steak and chicken?? it swells when you swallow it?? i dont know much about it at all. i was wondering though... what if these meats were cooked slowly in a slow cooker and the fibre broken down well?? would that make a difference?? idont want to think that i have to give up beef or chicken.

    March Bandsters!

yep.. this is it. thanks for finding the link. it happened at the beginning of last year apparently, but it doesnt matter when it happened, the point is it did happen. So there was a video taken of the surgery?? nothing was picked up then?? its just awful. so young, too. im feeling up in the air at the moment. This dr is an excellant dr. i dont know why this happened.

    March Bandsters!

yes he is and he has an outstanding reputation as a general surgeon and a specialist. he has his own clinic. this has really thrown a spanner in the works. i hate to think what he is going through right now. Hobart is a small city.
  6. Helen, im so sorry that you are feeling so miserable, and you are right, you should be feeling a lot better than you are. How soon are you goign to try and have the gall bladder removed?? perhaps that will help you . i certainly hope so. ARe you taking plenty of Vitamins.?? im new at this myself and dont have advice that would be useful for you. But, i do feel for you very much. ive had about 20 surgeries the last fifty years ... thats on average one every two years there abouts. They have all been big surgeries. Im 65, looking down the tunnel of more joint replacement surgeries, and even that wont make me healthy. my husband is 73 and has twice the energy that i have. To a certain thing i understand where you are coming from, especially with having so many anaesthesias. its a real worry. i wish there was some way i could encourage you more. perhaps this gall bladder surgery is going to make a big difference.. i certainly hope so. Can i ask you though?? have you thought about the fact that you could be suffering from adrenal exhaustion and perhaps hypothoidism?? its a very real possibility that you are. your body has been under a lot of stress... the adrenal glands suffer a lot through all this. Because the adrenals work so closely with the thyroid there may be an issue here with them. you can buy selenium from your health store, plus dessicated thyroid... called Thyromine. i definately think its worth a try. you have absolutely nothing to lose at this point. i use it and its helped me no end.

    March Bandsters!

well... guess what??/ im 48 hours out from seeing my specialist for the first time... a good dr with a good reputation here... and?? on the news tonight i heard that there was a coronial enquiry into a lass who had lapband done here... with my dr. She developed sickness five days after woods and was admitted to the hospital here. Her dr never got to see her... discharged her by phone. She had a job to walk out of the hospital here according to her mum. She died overnight at home. Apparently her stomach had been''nicked'' and her organs went into shutdown. Can you imagine how i feel about all this right now?? sheeeeshhhhhh...!!!!

    March Bandsters!

thanks for this.. i must check it out. how you doing?? i hope its all going smoothly for you. my appointment is for wednesday... im going to be asking about gastric sleeve as well as lapbanding. i have to start writing down all the things i want to talk about... rofl.. he may just push me out the door... hahahaha. one good thing with this forum, in not going in as a useless patient who knows nothing, thats for sure. let you know how i go. whats happening there with you ??
  13. this is just so encouraging. one of the biggest issues that we face after banding is what is our diet going to be like?? im so pleased that you are doing so well... and after a fill. good on you. i hope that i do half as well. i will be really happy. ...and congratulations on the weight loss. i just love to read about these posts. my appointment with my specialist is day after tomorrow.
  14. thats good news. i was wondering how things would turn out, i know that those who have lapbanding are more prone to having problems. i didnt want to think that i would have more issues than what ive got now with what i think is a hiatial hernia. by the way... i always thought it was hiatus hernia... is there a difference??

    Hemorrhoids

thats another area that pre ops need to clear up with their dr... those who have existing problems with hemerrhoids... is the surgery going to aggravate them??

    Consuming My Thoughts!

im the same... im pre op. im finding that im on computer a lot of my time and reading up on this forum. and as well as, the thoughts are there all the time. it certainly is one of the biggest life changes.
  21. im wondering now if i have a hiatal hernia. i havent been banded yet but ive got a growing problem of discomfort in my diaphram... i can only describe it as being a cross between heartburn and ''heart attack''..lol.. cant think of anything more graphic than that. its definately been worse these last few weeks. more so since i blended squash , zucchini, etc and made a thick soup from it. skins and all. perhaps the roughage was just too much?/ i dont know. i wanted to ask though.. did any of your drs tell you that being over weight, especially with the rolls of fat that accumulate just under the bra, cause the problem to worsen?/ ive been doing some reading online about hiatal hernias but weight isnt mentioned at all. thanks for your input.

good on you. i hope it all goes well with you.. and you are right, this forum is a wonderful support. i dont know where i would have been mentally and emotionally if it werent for this forum. when i see my dr on wednesday i will be able to talk with him on a far better footing that i ever had before. that means a lot to me. in fact i couldnt get a more positive start than that.
