One Month Post-Op, Weird Pain
judych replied to jen_1381's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, i had it .... burning pain that was with me for weeks on end. eventually it did go, and it only appears when ive eaten the wrong thing or not chewed enough, plus too much. I think it will go for you.... like the dr said, give it a bit of time and see what happens. i definately had it though and when it got bad my left neck was very painful as well. -
i had BM! of just over 31, bad joints, replacements, and i had lap band done three months ago. Now im down to 29 BMI... pain nearly completely gone from joints etc. all up if i remember correctly i had aboutr 75 pounds to lose. Ive lost 30 already. the quality of life now is way beyond what i would have expected from the surgery... already im benefiting in more ways than i realised i would.

im in accelerated weight loss again this week after having 1 cc in the band. that makes four ccs.. yesterday i ate a lot of sugar. thats not me normally, so that was a bad day. i had a lot of discomfort trying to eat a piece of fruit and it never settled all day. i had some soft jubes in the afternoon. i know that i shouldnt have had them, and im not a sweet tooth. yesterday was just ''one of those days''. however, this morning when i weighed, im down another two pounds... rapidly getting to my goal. Honestly, im eating what i want to... like i said, just in very small amounts. hopefully in another week i can eat a banana. lol.
-
when i had my first fill, which was 3cc... i had trouble for at least seven days, possible longer. then it all settled down again and i was fine. ive just had another 1 cc put in and i really dont expect to be o.k. to eat properly for at least a week. thats how i am. i think everyone is different. why dont you give it another couple of days just on liquids? you may be surprised at how it does settle. good luck.

...thanks... Actually, its just marvellous. everything is happening without me having to make it an obsession.... thats the way i need/want it to be. Im glad to hear that you are of the same mind. i think that in the end, losing slow but sure wins out. theres less chance of discouragement and certainly no unreal expectations that will disappoint. im glad that you are doing well also... keep up the good work. Im two days out from my second fill, only had one cc... my band is tight ( just from the post fill ) so im not having much at all. i had a bowl of tomato soup with some melted cheese in it for lunch. a tablespoon of baked beans for breakfast. it takes me a few days to settle down again after a fill, even a small one.good to talk with you. judy

i agree about solid protein for breakfast. i have a small amount of bacon plus one fried egg.... that does me well until lunch.

im sorry that you are having issues with the pouch ..... i was talking with a lady in the drs waiting room the other day. she was banded just over ten years ago and is now suffering from a slipped band. I asked her what her symptoms were... she said awful heartburn and couldnt keep anything down. She was hoping to get the band removed and replaced. it sounded like she was really miserable ... im glad i had a chance to ask her about it all. im keeping what she said in mind. ive read on here that going back to just fluids for a while, after having the saline taken out of the band can often help the band to slip back into position. i hope this is all it takes for you.

i think this is a marvellous effort. i dont believe its healthy to try and achieve massive weight losses in a short time. the body has to suffer. im losing weight slowly but very steady now. i had about 80 pounds to lose... im well on the way and ive been banded about three months now. im not quick with weight loss but dont want to be either. im a good third, nearly half way to my goal.
-
well, to be honest... im not counting calories at all. i havent been for some time now. I eat what i want when i want. the thing is, its only a very small amount. (and i mean small) ive just had my second fill. the first fill was 3ccs and the second was 1cc. im losing weight and its steady . im so glad i dont have to worry about what im eating. i have a very small serve of chips done under the grill if i want to... i have some cheese... i eat some chocolate. i even had a binge( and im not suggesting for one moment that anyone do this) on sugar jubes the other day. that was the day of my fill. normally i dont have sugar and dont crave it. im not proud of that one.I really needed the sugar that day. The point im making is.... if you eat slowly, chew well, you shouldnt need to be worrying so much about the calories you are having. If you arent eating enough calories then you wont lose weight, thats for sure. the body is very efficient at slipping into starvation mode. i know my body is very efficient at it and ive learned these last few months how to get around it all... some days my calories are about 1300, other days about 1000. i have a general idea of what im eating... but dont count and worry about it. Obviously up to this point its working well for me. I dont know if this would help anyone else out there... i definately dont feel that im dieting at all.
-
yes, i must do the same... ive got about about 9 kilos to lose now. i forgot to say the dr only gave me 1cc yesterday. that brings me up to 4ccs. i have a 12 cc band.

im three months out now from banding and i know what a battle it is still.. .and for you it sounds like its pretty much ongoing. it is a mental struggle. Not an easy one at times either. i have to say i have been eating some things that i shouldnt have been having.... i certainly havent starved myself, thats for sure.i had my second fill today. when i was weighed in today, i was 176 pounds. when i was admitted for banding i was 202 pounds. My BMI has come down from 33.8 to 29.4. im thrilled . so is the dr i might add. i dont deserve to have had the weight loss that ive achieved, i dont think... but im grateful for it . i have to really start ''weeding out'' those favorite foods of mine now. im not a sweet tooth but i do love some fatty foods sometimes... and savoury. i hope that you can get your body moving again in more weight loss. i understand how you feel, its so easy to keep going back to those foods that we shouldnt be eating. The band certainly doesnt stop us altogether from eating the wrong foods.... it helps a lot but we still have a lot of effort we have to put into it all. i hope that you manage to lose more weight. cheers.. judy

Gaining Weight Mushies?
judych replied to 911chrystal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i dont think its realistic or healthy to lose that much weight continually ..initially it may have been a lot of fluid for you plus fat, which is good, but you cant keep losing at that rate.im sure that your weight loss will adjust now... ..as your diet changes your weight loss will settle down more. My weight loss is realistic for me at my age, im quite happy with it now. ive lost about 30 pounds in three months. another 30 to go. -
Curious...what Could You Eat Before Compared To After The Lapband?
judych replied to alex77709's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ive had some restriction all along post surgery. more so after my first fill. now my second fill is this week, im finding that im eating about 1 1/2 cups per meal. im losing weight slowly but steadily. im assuming that my portion size will be cut back drastically after this next fill. -
is three weeks long enough between fills?? i have one fill and another coming on wednesday. i found with my first fill that i was on liquids for ten days out of that six weeks. i couldnt cope with solids much before that. Everyone is different though. how big is your band? ive got 10ccs

Help Please-Unusual Vomiting
judych replied to Ginger85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this is interesting. thanks for sharing. ive been banded three months, and i reckon ive had sliming about average every three weeks or so. Yesterday i had a bigger than normal bite of pork, didnt chew it enough and it gave me problems for about 2 hours afterwoods. that did concern me. i was very sore after woods in the pouch and only had a cup of soup later in the evening for tea. You are so right... its all about our control. are we taking small bites? are we chewing long enough? ive found that if my bite is too large then no amount of chewing is going to make the transition easy. i have my second fill on wednesday. -
Pb / Chewing Questions
judych replied to banditalovely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ive had this all this afternoon... not nice. i ate a piece of pork and didnt chew it long enough... and away i went. i seem to be slow to learn about chewing but its hard when i take a roast out of the oven and start slicing into it. Ive even forgotten sometimes that i have the band, the habit of eating pieces of roast has been with me for so long. Anyway, ive been off colour this afternoon. No tea for me now. just a hot drink im afraid. i have another fill on wednesday... wouldnt you think i would learn how to chew properly?? just when ''i thought it was safe to go back in the water''... -
1600-2000 Calories And I Still Lost Weight
judych replied to hunnybee11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i agree with the above post. my weight loss happens in a quick spurt and then it just stops. (ive just lost about four pounds in about two days.) i try to vary my intake by as much as 300 calories some days... maybe a little more. In fact im never just on a specific number of calories. if i were i would never lose any weight at all. ive bought the book..' the four hour body''.. but havent read it yet. its supposed to be very good. -
...and me as well. im still battling with it all.
-
six weeks with mine. i have my second fill next wednesday.

..and i understand where you are coming from. im a good cook, and i understand nutrition. Plus being online here in the forum is a learning curve all the time. I dont think i will be visiting with my nutritionalist anymore. i will keep her number just in case i come up against an issue i dont think i can handle.. but really.... i know about food. plus we talk about everything on here and we all learn. i honestly do begrudge paying out money for advice when i dont really need it. the one visit i had was good... i appreciated it, but thats all.Another thing which i think is important if one is going to be positive and successful in this lifestyle. if i want a scone, i will have it. If i want some crisps i will have them. if i want some bickies and cheese i will have some. just not in big quantities. Being able to have these foods means that i dont get frustrated and i never feel that im missing out. To me, thats the heart of the matter... to be satisfied with what you can eat.

I Don't Want This Lap Band......
judych replied to BreBre's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BreBre... I agree with every post in reply here. I think that nearly everyone has gone through an emotional 'trauma' after being banded. Usually it happens soon after. There are so many bodily changes, hormonal ones as well... and lifestyle changes going on that its overwhelming and the way you feel is perfectly natural . Believe me when i say this...... eventually, not too long in the future, you will have levelled out a lot, you will feel better about having the procedure done, and whats more you will see weight loss. Its the most wonderful feeling in the world to know that the weight is coming off at long last. Now when i sit down to eat i am proud that i can live perfectly well and happily on the small portion that ive served myself. Believe me, im not missing out on any foods that i love. i just eat in much smaller portions. I went to the wardrobe yesterday and got a pair of jeans out that i hadnt worn in over five years. i thought i would air them out, try them on this morning. when i tried them on, they were WAY TOO BIG.. how thrilling this was. Ive got some beautiful clothes in my wardrobe that ive hung onto and now i know i can start wearing them again. NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING THIN FEELS .. !!This is a powerful statement, believe me. Im three months post banded on the 20 june. ive lost about 30 pounds. both my husband and myself are so thrilled with whats happening. i get my second fill this coming wednesday. when i dish up the huge meals for my two men now i dont know how i ever managed to eat nearly as much. i did at one point. No wonder i felt ill all the time. Now? i can see the world of different that the band has made to my eating habits as well as the size of my meal. i wish i could impart the wisdom of my new way of eating to my family. i know they would be far better off if they adopted it, but no way. Just as it was no way for me beforehand. i hope this encourages you. You arent walking down a road that we havent already trodden. We have all been down it.... give your body time to heal.... be patient.. and know that in time it wont affect you as much when you see what the rest of the family are eating. It doesnt worry me at all. And, whats more, if i badly want some, i will have a tiny bit. thats all. no big deal. Im really happy with my results so far. I know you will be. Hang on and have some faith. hugs for you. judy -
