  1. About the calories I would not touch them unless you have a HRM because myfitnesspal overestimates everything some people need those extra carbs after a good long work out I have experienced this before I have worked out really hard and I just felt so hungry after and that was my body saying that I needed extra carbs! I would say just listen to your body' date=' you know it better than anyone and your definitely not going into starvation mode anytime soon! Lol[/quote']

    What's an HRM?

  2. Oh, one more thing...I would recommended if you can, do just liquids for at least 4 days before, only to get you used to having to do that. You'll be on liquids for quite a while after, then mushys. But even after fills you go on liquids for a couple days. At least that's what they have me doing. (I had my first fill yesterday) It'll get you used to only drinking your meals and not eating. Just an idea.

  3. I'm at 4 weeks myself and have lost 16 lbs, and like u can eat anything. I went in Thursday for my first adjustment and they were pleased with my loss. Unfortunately they didn't give me a fill cuz I pulled a muscle iny stomach where the port is so it was to swollen. I go back this Thursday to finally get it... From what I understand u should get a fill on your first appt... Good luck!!

  4. You don't have restriction yet so the ibuprofen wouldn't be sitting in the pouch so its ok.....it was your surgeon who told you to take it right?

Ibuprophen is harsh for the normal persons system' date=' so when a bandster taks it, its worse....it can sit in the pouch and irritate the linning....so most doctors what you to only take tylenol.[/quote']

It wasn't the surgeon but the one who would have done the fill. I'm not sure what she is.

  5. I pulled a muscle about two weeks ago in my rib area. If was from doing a row machine. I went to Urgent care it hurt so bad...it even hurt to breathe. I took 800 mg of Ibuprofen 3x a day for about 5 days and the inflammation went away.

I have 800 mg of ibuprofen too... Did u have to cut it in half? The pills are kinda big. I split one yesterday to be on the safe side but since I didn't take it all at once it didn't seem to help.

  6. I went in yesterday for my first adjustment. I had a feeling they wouldnt do anything because when I got to work I started experiencing some terrible cramping in my stomach right where the port is... Was unable to stand up straight and walking was even super painful. When I went to mt appointment they said I pulled a muscle where the port is located and couldn't do a fill because if the swelling. All this caused from me switching up my exersice from walking on the treadmill to running up and down my stairs. I had no idea I would hurt myself doing that. Now I cant go to work today because if terrible muscle spasms... Has anyone else experienced something like this. I'm in so much pain right now and don't know how to get any relief.

  7. totally talk to the doc about it, and tell them about your exercise. they doc may just examine you and see what's going on in there.

I'm so stupid for changing it up. I was so excited for today. I really want to get a fill, I really need some more restriction. But I feel so stupid walking around the office cuz I can't even stand up straight. I'm able to sit at my desk, just so long as I'm leaning forward.

  8. I got my 1st fill this morning with my Doc. He answered some questions I had about my medications and exercise and whatnot. He told me that to optimize my weight loss I need to eat about 1000 calories a day. I told him that I was eating 1200-1400 now.

He also did confirm that we need to be on a liquid diet for 2 days after the fill. You should have an empty stomach when you come for a fill, so don’t eat about 2 hrs prior to your fill appt. he also said don’t schedule a fill before any events like parties or trips out of town bc of the liquid diet that follows.

He felt the right side of my stomach and used an alcohol swab to clean the area. He used a tiny needle to giving me the numbing medicine near my port site. It was a tiny pinch. He then prepped the needle for the fill. It was a pretty long needle so as soon as I saw it I looked the other way. He told me it was “only 2 inches long” but it looked like it was longer than that. he went in to do the fill and he found the port like immediately. So was minimal pain, I just felt the needle going in my skin, and I felt it going in my port (like I felt some pressure against something hard). It was over in a matter of seconds.

He told me that I needed to sit in the waiting room and drink Water to make sure the fill wasn’t too tight. If you cant keep down Water they will remove some liquid. He also told me that I can come back for fills every 7-10 days if I’m still eating more than 1000 calories or I’m feeling hungry. He told me not to wait to schedule a fill.

    So that’s my story J

Thank you so much for the info...I got to work today and started cramping really really bad at the port site. I have no idea why, the only thing I've done different is run up and down my stairs yesterday instead of walking on the treadmill. I can hardly walk or stand up straight. I have a funny feeling they won't do a fill if I'm cramping like this.

  9. Ok this sounds silly...but I actually did the same thing on lunch meat last week at a friends house....I was talking and eating and forgot to chew' date=' chew ,chew...I knew instantly what I had done. I actually started to break out in a sweat!!...I felt it in my back something aweful....I didn't know what to do...and realy didn't want her to know what was going on so when she went down stairs to get the laundry I went and hung myself off the bed kind of upside down. the gravity made the food come back up.....Worked....not for sure if it happens again how many places will have a place for me to hang upside down, but just another technique we can put in our arsonal for another time-haha

Hope you are feeling better now[/quote']

Hahaha, I don't mean to laugh but that was a great visual.... I think it sounds like a good idea and will try it when I go to bed.

  10. Water doesn't help because it has nowhere to go. Think of the blockage as being like a blocked loo. What happens when you add more Water? The stuff doesn't go down it sort of makes it all swirl around and come back up.

Sorry if that image is gross but it was the easiest thing I could think of to explain it.

LOL, that makes sense... How long does it take to usually go away? I'm learning so much from this site... I appreciate everyone's help.

  11. I find sometimes moving around helps. However' date=' this is where you have to be careful; you can't just wolf down your meals and if that phone call comes again, maybe you have to spit out your mouthful (gross, I know, but now you know what happens when it's not chewed!). What you're feeling is the grinding of your pouch opening, trying to work through the deli meat that's probably stuck in the opening. Can you go to the bathroom? I just lean over at the waist over the sink, and cough really hard. It doesn't hurt and honestly it's more of a relief to just get it up![/quote']

I totally agree with u next time I'm spitting it out. I can believe I swallowed it, that was so stupid. No I can't go to the bathroom. I just got done walking on the treadmill, if that doesn't work I'm going to try bending over like u said. Thanks for the advice. Now I know what NOT to do. :)

  12. So - I am recently banded and I wonder what happens when you get stuck...you don't choke? I guess you can still breath....also how do you bring it back up if that happens? Just curious.

No u don't choke... When it happened to me today it was really hard to get down my throat cuz I didn't chew. Now it just feels like a blob of something in my stomach, and I feel air bubbles like I want to burp or it wants to come up but it won't.

  13. Tami how r u doing now? I can no longer eat deli meat so i understand i also sometimes am able to "cough" up an obstruction an sometimes if i sip on some Water it makes it come up also. Either way its going down or coming up. Hope u feel better. I HATE the pressure of being stuck

I feel like I need to burp but it won't happen...what about getting on the treadmill? Do u think walking will help?

  14. I know now what it feels like to be stuck....I was eating some deli meat at my desk at work and the phone rang, so I wasn't able to chew it up good and swolled it almost whole. Now my asophagus hurts and my stomach feels like I have a rock in it. Any suggestions on how I can get this to go down? I got to thinking about it, how does it break up and go down when there aren't any stomach acids in there to break it up?
