  1. The MRI looked great and I've had other scanning at the dr since then, do my plication looks good! I just had a really rough recovery ;(( I'm almost 6 weeks post op now and doing great! No more nausea thank god! I'm down 21lbs. Going for my second full in 2 weeks. I would not have changed a thing, other than I would have roughed it out that night to bypass the 3k bill!!!
  2. That's awesome! You go girl! That's so inspiring!
  3. I'm seeking out all the major band losers (weight loss that is!) that have lost a significant amount of weight! I'd love to hear your best tips and even before and after pictures! Really any advice you can offer those of us just getting started. I was banded April 2 and am down 21lbs, but it's slowing down now.
  4. Hey girl, u look great! Can u give some of us some tips?
  5. They think it was a reaction from the meds or anesthisia. We've already spoke to the dr and he says we are responsible. It sux so bad. I guess I should have just sucked it up that night ( but I really thought I was dying I was so sick. I guess we can always try and negotiate with the hospital to see if they will come down on price at all
  6. I figured....it just really sux. You pay 10k for a surgery and then it turns into 13k!
  7. Ok so I was banded April 2. Day one went by fine, day two I ended up in the ER that night for violent violent vomiting, nausea and diarrhea (uncontrollable) when we called the dr ion the middle of the night he instructed us to go to a "specific" hospital across town. This was at 1am in the morning and I thought I was dying! So at the hospital I received an iv, pain meds, and the dr ordered an MRI. Anyways long story short, I was self pay at 10k...yesterday I got a bill from the hospital for 3k!!!! I guess I just assumed that since he sent us to a specific hospital and it was day 2, that he was taking care of it!! My husband is pissed and wants to take him to small claims court, but I'm scared caz I have to deal with them for the next year of my life! I'm also part of his clinical trial for the band with plication, so I assumed if something went wrong on day two he would take of it. Maybe I'm just naive...any thoughts????
  8. Ok did my BMR and it's 1757. So how much do I need to eat to lose 2-3 lbs a week?? I know for me since I have pcos my body does not do well with carbs at all, and I have been eating too many carbs lately! So in gonna start lowering my carbs. I had my first fill yesterday so we will see how it goes. Thanks for the input ladies!
  9. What's an example day for you?
  10. Oh I'm also 5 weeks post op ) and have lost 19lbs, but nothing in a little over a week
  11. Ok ladies a few of my banded friends and I are arguing about how many cals we should be eating. A couple if us have stalled and are eating an average of 600-800 cals a day. Is that too low?? I've read that it should be more like 1000 a day. But that's seems like so much! If I'm not exercising right now how many cals to kick my weight loss back in gear?
  12. How is it working for you and your weight loss? Do u count ur cals?
  13. Hey there! I'm 5 weeks post op and have lost 20lbs. My weight loss has slowed now like I knew it would. I haven't been eating very good just very little. I have pcos so I'm not suppose to have breads and sugars so Atkins or south beach is what I'm suppose to follow, but I haven't. I would love to hear if low carb has helped any of you banders???? Thanks! dde0a

  15. I'm Tahneesamson )
  16. I was self pay but my surgeon doesn't charge extra for the plication since its still in clinical trial
  17. 1st week was liquids and full liquids, 2nd week was mushies, 3rd and 4th I could add in chicken and beef. I'm eating pretty normal now, just not a lot
  18. I had the band with plication apr 2nd. I'm down 20lbs! Im not gonna lie, my recovery was pretty tough the first 2 weeks but I feel great now! Nausea was the worst, but everyone is different. I skipped my first fill caz I didn't need it caz the plication is plenty of restriction. It's crazy how little it takes to get full now. My first fill is Monday and I'm still not sure if I need one. I think everyone should do the plication, weight loss is faster and it prevents from slips ) feel free to ask me any questions
  19. Trust me the abdominal binder will save ur life! Mine is a belly band from kohls it was $20
  20. What exactly does explode mean?! Throw up?
  21. Yes I had the same thing! It latest about a week, it's just the nerves. But man is it painful! What saved my life was a belly band I bought at kohls. Any type of girdle type item will work, anything that puts pressure in it.
  22. You need to call ur doctor, he might say go Shea and go to the ER. Trust me the mess and iv they give you will make you feel brand new!
  23. Im 4 weeks out and have been in the ER twice for Vomiting and severe nausea, so I know how you feel. I got severely dehydrated! So make sure u are getting plenty of fluid. Ask the dr for zofran which is a anti nausea med, it helps so much. Also if it gets bad enough go to the dr and get an iv. I did have to have all the fluid removed from my band as well. I just took a lot longer than most to heal. So I know how you feel, just hang in there it does get better
