Off Centered ~ Off Topic
Our group is growing and sharing everything about their lap-band experience which is awesome but there is so much more about us. Right now I'm super obsessed with my lap-band surgery and my weight but that's only a small part of who I am. So I thought it would be fun to share our interests, hobbies, passions and just life stuff in general! I love to paint, take photographs, complain about my 3 dogs, and work on my garden. Right now it's seems all i do is work. I also spend way too much time on Facebook if anyone wants to connect there, l let me know. I love spending time with my adult children. I'm pretty proud of the fact that are so much fun to be around! I opened a tiny little salon 3 yrs ago and have been very focused on building my business. My life is pretty full! So there's a start! Now it's your turn!

Introductions? Yes Please
Anissa! All my ex's live in Texas! Literally My ex-ex husband is from the Sherman Dension area and returned to Texas after our divorce and an ex boyfriend. Works for me. I do miss making trips to Texas. Welcome to the group. I'm pretty excited about my surgery date (4/2) but ask myself about every other day if I really know what I'm doing. I think the nervousness is normal. I'm starting to get excited now for everyone else on here! Welcome to our group. j~

Elizabeth! Welcome to the group. I'm impressed with your writing skills and thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Sounds like we all have a lot in common. I remember being the only girl over 100's in 3rd grade. Of course back then, they read your weight out loud and announced it to everyone standing there. I swear it felt like the entire school knew I was the fattest girl in school by the end of the day. Can't wait to get to know you better. Keep posting and please feel free to share anything you wish here. We're all fairly new and I'm looking forward to the support. julie~

Papaya Enzymes
I had pain from the gas when I had my tubal years ago. I guess they fill you with gas so they can move around in there. It started in my lower stomach and moved up my body over the next few days. They hadn't prepared me for it so I got freaked out and called about it. They told me the gas would slowly dissipate throughout my body over the next few days. That's exactly what happened. The pain moved up my body until it was gone. Only that that seemed to help me was a heating pad. I have two packed!

Fears
I opened up a new topic because I think our fears are important to share. I know right now most of us are pre-surgery but I have a feeling we'll all be facing our fears a lot over the next several months. I hope you feel comfortable enough on here to express them here. from my blog: Fears I've been thinking a lot about my fears this week. Probably because my friends on the forum are expressing theirs which is wonderful. One, I believe it's good to put it out there and secondly, it's hearing things from a different point of view. So this has me looking into my own fears about my upcoming surgery. Will I be in pain? Of course, but I've dealt with pain before and as long as I know it won't last long I seem to be ok. Just leave me alone and let me deal with it. I'll have to remind my friend of "leave me alone" during of my recovery. When I'm in a lot of pain I don't even like being spoken to. Hopefully I will be able to sleep through most of it the first few days. What if they screw up and I have complications? What is I die? Well how can I control that? I can't. I've done my research and even though I haven't met him in person yet, I feel pretty confident about my surgeon. Has great reviews all over everywhere and have been accredited by the American Medical Association. So I could make myself sick of him messing up but I think the odds are in my favor. What if I die? NOT that I have a death wish, but I'm ok with that too. If it's my time, it's my time. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow. What if I fail? Ok so I saved my biggest fear for last. What if I fail the lap band? I'm spending 5K on this surgery and it may not be the smartest financial move I've made but here's the thing. What if I don't? I fear that far more than I fear getting banded and failing. If I don't I know I will continue to gain weight. Get less and less mobile and will just spiral downward. I know myself well enough to know I will blame my weight on everything and will turn to food to help with my depression. I've been doing that for years. Yep, I'm an emotional eater. I can do really well all day and let myself get into my own head and eat an entire box of cookies, or a huge bowl of ice cream and then feel like crap for doing so. My eating is out of control and I'm a smart enough woman to know I need help. So I guess a better question for me is, what if I fail not to? What happens to me if I don't get banded? That right there is a scary future and that's something I can control!! That's real! j~

Papaya Enzymes
EXACTLY Deb! I really appreciate you pulling it over here. I can spend hours sitting here reading but have been too busy lately. Thank you for pulling it all together for us. I think I'll over mine now. Someone also told me there was something you could take for the gas pains after surgery. I'll try to find out what that is. Sounds rough. j~

Do you have the link so we know exactly what your looking at? I'm stocking up on boxed creamy soups and stuff I can take to work. I have a feeling I won't be eating as much as I've stocked up. I'm starting to feel like a squirrel.

Recipes
Sounds yummy. I've also heard that after surgery you need to make sure you get your Protein in and you may need to sip your shake throughout the day to get down. Hard to believe that could be possible. I downed my tonight. Change is in the air. Keep those recipes coming!

Introductions? Yes Please
Hi! I'm Julie and looking to change my life on April 2nd. Yep, that would be my surgery date. I'm a single mother of sometimes adult children. Own a very small salon in central Phoenix and have never worked so hard to make so little Just kidding, life is what I make it and it's awesome! This growing up has been a process and I feel like I have control over everything in my life but my weight. I've struggled my whole life with eating and bouncing up and down on the scale. More often it's UP! I feel like I've done it all... weight watchers, HCG, calorie counting, Atkins, and even the cabbage diet. Ya I lose, but when I get back to normal eating (No, one cannot live on Cabbage Soup), the weight slowly comes back on and adds a few extra pounds for good measure. So here I am! This is me, getting real with myself and sharing my journey. Hope to connect with you soon, j~

Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?
Maybe all the years of slamming down food between clients has caught up with us?
