    Post-Op Banders

I haven't lost as much as that yet, and I gained about 3 lbs right after surgery. Pretty sure it was water/gas weight. Glad to hear your doing so well. I'm itchy too and can't wait for the incisions to heal completely. I'll be honest that I'm a little disappointed with my weight loss but I am losing, so it's all just in my mind. I'm not the most patient person in the world and it's been one of my hardest life lessons so far. Thing is this time I'm not turning to food as a means to make me feel better. My only issue right now is sometimes my port bulges out and gets a little sore. I have some bruising around that incision from the surgery, and it's the only area that I have any pain with anymore. It feels like it's healing so I'm not concern. Sometimes it feels like I have an alien baby in me Unfortunately, I have to wait 6 wks for a fill and I'm not feeling much restriction. I'm following docs orders and counting my days til my fill. j~

Any Zonie's Getting Banded In April

Oh how exciting. Keep me posted and I would try again with the Springers group. I know the site has been acting funny for many. Maybe just a hick up and they fixed it. Shouldn't be a problem.

    Day 5 Post Op

My oldest son made a huge pot of chili this weekend. Just down right cruel if you ask me, but I did ok. It was more about smelling it cook than anything else. I know it's odd to have chili this time of year but I never know what to expect from my kids. I think they are going to keep me on my toes. Sipping my protein shake as I type. j~
  8. Sounds like runnyF has been put through the ringer. Again we're all so different with the goal. Glad it's over for you runny, time to heal and start getting healthy again. From here on out should be cheesecake after everything you've been through. Happy Monday! j~

    One Week To Go!!!

Keep up the good work Mike. Your worth it. I admire your determination to swim as much as you do. I've been horrible at exercise. My downfall I guess. I'm sure you'll do great. j~

Any Zonie's Getting Banded In April

My surgery went great. I had mine in Mexico last monday. Been a slow week but I feel like I'm going great. Just into the Springers group if you can Passion. We're almost 100 strong and growing with members all having surgeries around the same time. I'm adding you as a friend and I hope to see you there. I'm an open book, if you have any more questions.
  12. Ya I would take a few days. I too have had ups and downs like dhales. I went back and did a few clients on Sat. and yesterday (Sun) was a sleepy day for me. Not sure why just tired and dozed on and off all day. The pain isn't unbearable, more uncomfortable but it is surgery! I'm had surgery after child birth to repair damage and a tubal. I recovered quickly from those but this one feels more internal. Like the core muscles of your body have been moved around and they aren't real happy about it. Right now, exactly one week after surgery the only pain I have is slightly sore muscles and port pain. My incisions are itchy so I know they are healing and all but the port site is almost gone. The port incision is the largest one, about 1 1/2 inch long and I'm thinking another week. One thing I have noticed is when I eat, the port pushes out some. Like you feel full HIGH in your stomach instead of in your belly. I think as the food filters into my lower tummy the port goes back in place. Sorry it's hard to explain how it feels. This is a life changing surgery, Why not take a few days out of the life and recover, adjust, and relax? You deserve it!

    Got My Surgery Date!

Congrats on your date Pretty. You'll do great but it is an emotional roller coaster and I'm just letting the emotions come as they will. I was banded last Monday and had one day where I found myself depressed with no outlet. I had no food to turn to. I just went for a drive and thought about how I was feeling and how before surgery I would have gone to the first fast food place and eaten my emotions away. This time I had to have a little "come to Jesus" talk with myself. "come to Jesus" talks are what I refer to getting real with myself or whoever I need to deal with. Anyway, for me, it helps looking at my emotions and feeling them, not suppressing them. Sorry I'm rambling again. Congrats on your date! It's going to be a great year for many of us and I'm gong to enjoy the ride. Glad your here j~

    Day 2 Post Surgery

Congrats allen. I was banded 4/2, Monday and doing well too. I go back to work today so a little nervous but time to get back on that horse. Good Luck to you!
  19. Ok so I'm probably NOT the best one on here to be giving advice, but I wouldn't beat yourself up too much about eating those last meals. I sure as heck did! Yes I did Taco Bell, McD's, steak, Mexican food, ... I could go on and on. Good thing I was self pay and didn't have to wait too long because I was using my "up coming" surgery to basically eat like a cow. Now, I was very concerned about the liver thing and not losing enough weight prior to surgery and I'm pretty sure they are a bit more lax about self payers (funny how loudly cash speaks) but I enjoyed my lasts. NOW, I'm post op and wondering why I ate like that. Ok, maybe quantity? Was I overly concerned about never being able to eat a whole steak, or a whole box of Mac & Cheese? Oh my, Shells n' Cheese was one of my all time favs! I know someday, after I heal, I'm going to have a bite or two of steak. I'm going to eat Taco Bell again, I just won't be able to order 4 or 5 items. Maybe I'll have a cup of refried beans with a bit of cheese and hot sauce. That's why I went with the band. I know I won't be eating as much as (quantity) I was before, but I will be tasting different foods (quality) to find out what I can tolerate and I WILL have to learn I can't eat the whole enchilada, but I wont' have to deprive myself of the taste. Ok, I'm rambling now. Sorry but I feel where you are right now and I just wanted to share.

    Honey I'm Home :)

Hi Springers! Sorry for being out of the loop for the last few days. I was hoping Mexico would have a good net connection but it didn't. They had one but it was so slow I couldn't keep my focus. YEP, I'm banded! The surgery went great. I'm not going to sit here and tell you it's all wonderful. I'm sore and been uncomfortable for the last few days but each morning I wake up and it's better. The surgery itself only took about 15 minutes, or so I was told. I wanted to get up immediately to go the bathroom and get myself walking. I heard the more you walk, the faster they release you. My surgery was at 9:00 and we were back to the hotel by 2:00. The first day I spent walking, sitting, and laying around. I think I was looking for a place to get comfortable. My shoulders hurt like hell. I was lucky enough to have a very good friend along who was willing to rub my shoulders. He was truly a blessing. I would maybe suggest one of the shoulder massage machines if you have one. I think the motion breaks up the gas faster. I am still sleeping with a heating pad. The first night I slept with pain meds and did ok, You don't want to move around much as rolling over pulls on the incisions. At one point it hurt so much I thought I had pulled open one of my incisions but later discovered it's not the incision that actually hurts, it's the port which is just under my belly fat. I'm sure it's secured in the muscle and when you move a certain way it pull on the port line. No Bueno! I'm on day 4th day now and have to say other than body aches and pains, the port area is the only thing that hurts. Bloating or jiggly fat!. OMG! I'm really not sure it's bloating but I look like a very fat frog. I have NO muscle control of my tummy and it's extended. It just sits there. No sucking it in for me now. I keep wondering if it's still gas or just lack of muscle control. Either way... loose gym pants and t-shirts are a must. I haven't taken any pain meds since the second night but I am taking Advil twice a day. Advil seems to be working better for the body aches anyway and I've heard sometimes the pain meds slows things down. So my food and weight. I've been put on a 7 day clear liquid diet followed by a 14 days liquid diet (I can add yogurt and protein after the first 7). I had one cup of broth the first day with juice and water, and added jello and a Popsicle yesterday. I'm not really hungry but know I need to stay hydrated. I haven't lost any weight since the surgery and for some reason that doesn't surprise me yet. I still feel very puffy and know it will change over the next few weeks. I hope everyone is doing well. Please feel free to ask me ANYTHING. I'm still off for the next few days recovering so I'll be around more now.

    Honey I'm Home :)

Ok so exactly how long will I have this extended tummy? I seriously look preggers! NO BUENO! Each day I'm getting better. Still careful with my movements. If I move wrong, the port reminds me it's there. Have a lite day at work tomorrow which is a good thing. Will get me back into my world and get me focused on something other than food. One day at a time folks! Lady, (or anyone else for that matter) I just figured out MFP and please me: julzinariz
  24. I've been having trouble too. Have to hit "more reply options" instead of just the post tab. Not sure why. I honestly don't think I could do a mile right now. Yes, I'm post-op but I didn't do a mile before surgery. I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to exercise. Keep positive Eliz. We'll all get there.
