We are up to 112 members now! That's a good number to watch go UP I really appreciate you all being here, sharing your experiences and feelings. It really does help, so keep posting! Maybe something you say, however silly YOU may think it is, will help someone on their journey. I know this group has been awesome for me. ((((((big hugs)))))) julie~

I used to cook that all the time. My kids love it too. You can also add different veggies, such as zucchini, black olives and so on. Sliced avocados on top is yummy too. Question: I'm still too close to post op to try it, and actually a little nervous still but how do you all (veterans) handle spicy foods? I would add jalapenos to this recipe and I love spicy foods but I haven't ventured there just yet. Being from Arizona there are lots of spicy foods and I've been curious if those foods would be a problem now that I'm banded.

Judy I get tired too. Remember you did have surgery and it takes time. Also, thanks for the reminder to slow down. Would love to know what the book is you bought? Maybe we can find it on amazon or ebay?

Ya I'm in the same boat mamab. I lost pretty good at first too but now things have slowed down. I'm eating soft solid and feel no restriction but I've healed up nicely. All my incisions are sealed and look great. I'm ready for my first fill but have to wait 6 wks. now Not having as much gas and alien baby sounds anymore either. I really need to focus on WHY I'm eating now. I find myself eating in the evening because I'm bored. NO BUENO

Anyone? Am I The Only One In April?

Best of Luck! I'm sure you'll all do great. -
I FINALLY went below 200 lbs today. I've been feeling a little down on myself because I'm not losing weight as fast as I think I should. Wallering in my own pity party, of sorts. I'm pretty good at that! I wasn't even going to weigh myself but felt the urge. Glad I did because just I wasn't expecting to lose, but the fact that I went below the 200 mark is a huge deal for me! It's a milestone and I realized even a few ounces at a time IS a big deal and should be celebrated. WOOT WOOT! I think we should all share our milestone, no matter how small. Next goal....... get below 190. One ounce at a time! j~

A Question To Those Who Are Banded For Those Of Us Who Aren't Yet
scorpiolady replied to azhoselady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Heating pad was my best friend! Popsicles were the next best thing! The best advice, in my humble opinion, is exactly what Summrsue said... DON'T allow what the scale says dictate your day. -
I think everyone on here has had bad days, questioning their decision, and second guessing themselves. I know I did! However, I believe you have to keep a positive mind set to attract positive results. Keep looking at all the good results, good experiences, and surround yourself with positive people who will support your decision and your journey. Keep moving forward One pound at a time! hugs, julie

June 5th will be here so fast! Congrats!

it's like loud growling, gurgling, and maybe even moaning! I can't see how someone couldn't hear it. I get mine sometimes right after I eat, but mostly when I haven't eaten anything in a while. I'm still getting the noise and I'm mostly healed so I can't answer the last question.

Thanks Elizabeth

Welcome to the group T! Stick around and get as much support as you need. Nice to have someone local in the group too. Where are you having your surgery? I've been MIA for the past few days but I'm back. Just a busy weekend with non stop running. So welcome welcome welcome to all!

Paint! Get some apple barrel paint and paint a flower pot. Paint on tile, Hell, paint rocks! I have a gf who just ordered "rocks" painted with little flowers in ebay to brighten up her fountain in the backyard. I'm thinking I may paint some for my garden. Maybe I'm in the wrong business!

How exciting. Congrats! The time will pass quickly for you I hope. -
Honey your not going to eat a cheese burger! You'll be fine. I had fish last night, tiny bites and it went very well. HOOT HOOT on that loss. Your determination is inspiring. j~

I'm not sure about that rash. Maybe you should have a doc look at it just to make sure? Only thing I have going on is itchy incisions and sometimes my port sticks out after I drink or eat. Like a big bump right above my largest incision. I've been told this will go away after I heal. Now I've never had a problem "going" and haven't had much of a problem since my surgery. HOWEVER, I'm not sure you should be expecting solids out if there's no solids coming in. Just my 2 cents and I'm curious to hear the input from others. Again, I've never had this problem but I've heard many people do. Not something I'm looking forward to, but want to be prepared just in case. dhales, I don't think you should be worried about TMI on here. I have a feeling this group is all about getting real with ourselves and sharing everything as we go. j~

That's a great idea! The standing tall reaching for the trees sounds awesome. I was doing yoga a little bit before surgery and admit that I miss it now. I'm not supposed to do anything for 3 weeks so as soon as I can.... I too have had a few really depressing days lately. Not sure if it's normal ho hum and post surgery ho hum's. Like all this hype and now what. Either way I'm pretty damn good at throwing myself a huge pity party when I let myself go there. This used to involve huge amounts of my favorite (or even no so favorite) foods. So what now? Now that I can't eat a half a gallon of Ben n' Jerry's? Well I found myself driving around for one thing. Just got myself out of the house. Drove around nice neighborhoods and looked at pretty house with beautiful flowers. I also went out and bought some flowers and planted them right outside my bedroom window so I could see them first thing in the morning. Music also is a HUGE help for me. I think this all is going to take time. Love your quote ~~be gentle with yourself~~ j~

Sounds like your doing great. Congrats! I wish I would have said something to my doc about the gas pain. That seems worse than the actual band but it did go away. Keep sharing Madcap! It's good to hear how everyone is doing. hugs j~

I think it's pretty normal to be nervous. I was! When I get nervous, I get really quiet and calm. It's sorta weird. I would be concerned about you if you DIDN'T get a bit of the butterflies. I'm sure you will both do great and I can't wait to hear how everything went. Remember this is just a small part of your life changing journey! Be awesome! hugs, j~
