  1. i am wanting to get healthy (for me) and i know (me) feeling better about (me) makes (me) a happier person...i am beyond blessed with a southern good ole boy who for whatever drugs he took in high school affected him enough to love me at 150 when he married me to the 336 hefer i was 8 months ago.. i remember my vows, for better or worse...i had the worse, am working on the better now
  2. well aint you sweet to comment on me like that. i struggle daily with my insecurity but have just made up my mind to do what i have to do...mere (months) ago i was over 300....up near linebacker size on a pro football team and i am a short sh**.....girl i was as wide as i was tall that is my motivation. that is what makes me say, you know what, you are so doing this...my little granddaughter wants her meme to walk around the block with her or go shopping....i want to be able to walk through a store again and fasten my seat belt. i want to live longer. if i divert off course, i am only hurting myself. therefore i have to do this. no one else will....so as my ole man told me on my pre op, woman up as you wanted to do this so do what you have to do to make it happen. you can do this. so believe. i believe in you.
  3. i basically asked my insurance (what they needed) and wrote out a brief synop to my pcd....and also wrote out a detailed info sheet on me for my last 5 to 10 yrs of dieting ups/downs/etc with details. my pcd then wrote her (letter) of recommendation from that....
  4. drink all day long although i stop drinking when i eat and wait 20-30 after
  5. well, a month post op, you are still healing and losing weight really shouldnt be an issue as is letting the insides heal. weight goes up and down all day long for various reasons. to gain weight you must eat more calories than you burn off. only you know that answer...i dont mean to sound mean but if at 1 month post op you are wishing the band was out, you most likely wont do well thinking that way keep doing what you are doing (eating healthy in allotted amounts/drink alot) and focus on inches coming off whether than what the scale says.
  6. as long as we are losing, that is what matters. that is how i see it. even if the scale is not moving (as fast) as we want, if we are doing the right things (eating healthy, exercising) and the inches are coming off, then that is fantastic. what you have lost is amazing. def a success story...its not that I will do this....its me saying i want to do this....that keeps me going each and everyday....well that and to know i used to wear size 30 pants.. hang in there okay.
  7. i think you have better control of yourself then you think...i was also a binger..heck i even planned mine and herded my family to leave so i could binge..i tell myself, if i come to a red light and its red, am i gonna run it or stop and wait til it turns green? same thing with (binge eating or eating more than my allotted amount). i make the choice to do the right thing....so if you are hungry at night drink and see if that helps...if not, eat something. eat something with Protein (to help you feel full) and enjoy it..(my hub/son loves Snacks goodies too. just because those items are there, they do not have that power over me that i must eat them... so what if they are there. i dont believe in will power... its my want power that stops me from eating that entire bag of lays while watching rupaul drag race).
  8. if you can drink (coffee which is basically water) i am not understanding why you cant drink water. i agree with that poster to let your doctor know about this. there are all sorts of items to add to water to help mask the taste (i prefer crystal light peach tea) and i drink alot of it (and drinking def helps with me thinking i am hungry)..
  9. my doctor told me not too (so good bye my beloved coors light and soda) but i read some do on here.....i am guessing it is up to whatever you doctor advises you to do or not to do..
  10. once i found a dr who accepted my tricare, my pcd referred me to tricare.....tricare approved visit and i had to fulfill all sorts of pre ops (had to again have pcd refer to tricare to approve all of this)...and then have the lap and dr submit for approval...i was approved within 48 hrs. the tricare website offers you the criteria that has to be met but i think each case could be different i was a 62 bmi and 150+ pounds overweight..i started in mid of feb..surgery beginning of june 2012.
  11. allow me to add: Note to self- Doing dangum GOOD
  12. I guess it depends on whom you ask and what their dr says. So here is what mine said. Very similar to the above poster, the liquid (pushes in through) and we want the food to sit on the (top part)....now whether or not that is true, I don't know. But I stop drinking when I eat and wait 30 min after.
  13. odd ball yet again....I got the allergen band as that is what my dr uses. I am down with what he thought was best for me.
  14. just because the scale is not moving as you would like, this does not mean the band is not working. do not compare yourself to anyone else. you need to stay on program, do as your doctor advises and you will see success. maybe not the numbers you are seeking but they will appear...you are still newly banded..healing inside..you have to allow your body to heal.
  15. the band will assist with helping you stop from overeating but if you eat/drink slider foods (high calorie shakes, bisque Soups, ice cream) you wont lose either. one def needs to have a complete mind set change. to eat better quality foods in your allotted amount (just because you can eat more than you should does not mean one should). i think people should find ways one can to make this work. its not magic. its not a cure all. you got to help it in order for it to help you.
  16. feel better soon deedee
  17. i have lost but what i gained is what matters to me. i gained more self confidence and my esteem is rising again. i am able to walk better and i am able to enjoy life again. i love my band/plication.
  18. if its (pain) that hurts, def let your dr know if its just uncomfortable, then its a combo most likely of being swollen, and maybe some gas. def keep on sipping.
  19. thanks for sharing this true and amazing tip. i hope the people that need to read this will and learn (just like you)
  20. my banded sistah.......you have come this far because YOU believed in yourself and made the changes you needed too (positive outlook, food changes etc). you are a amazing person. i am honored to know you...
  21. i hope i am not one of those (know it all's) however i am passionate and i do not coddle in my comments to people who knowingly divert off course and then wonder did i do wrong. i am trying to do the best i can with what i have. like madds said, i take the majority of things with a grain of salt. if i come across something (i always refer to my dr) to get the correct info. that being said, i am losing weight with the bands help and def making good choices. that is what i (preach on here). being responsible for one's own actions and you either want it or not. i am one who does want it.
  22. i apologize if you thought i was rude. that was not my intent. 8 months ago, i was weighing 336 pounds i not only judged myself but also was judged by the entire world.. by being an obese woman who couldnt walk and hardly wipe her ass i had to pull myself up and support myself. just like you have to. i am very compassionate about this and i dont coddle in my replies so again, if i offended, i am sorry, i will stay off your posts. best of luck.
  23. when i had my gallbladder out via emergency, it hurt between my shoulder blades something fierce and agree with mis, wouldnt go anywhere until i figured what was (if) anything wrong
  24. you get back on track by eating your allotted amount eat lean protein, veggies and fruit and drink alot 3500 calories is a pound...if you eat more than you burn off, you will gain.. am glad you are seeing your dr tomorrow.
  25. -= instead of reading articles and posting them on here, how about asking your dr about your fears or concerns if you cant get past that yeah some things happen, good and bad then i dont know what else to say. my hub told me to woman up when i was whining on my pre op..he said you wanted this so do what you have/need to do i can post at least 60 pro band articles but i dont...i am making it work..that decision is up to you
