  1. If having a "last meal" makes u a fatty, I'm a super duper fatty! Lol. I had a "last meal" WEEK! I got in all my favs....Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Popeyes Chicken, Taco Bell, and many more! The great part is, it's all outta my system. I start my pre-op diet today, which means my surgery is in 2 weeks. Yahooooo
  2. I TOTALLY feel ya on the "one shop in the mall" thing. Can't wait to get my buns in a cute pair of Gap jeans! Sounds like ur from the KC area? Blue Springs here, surgery March 1st. Btw, fun post!
  3. I just have to say, I love this site and the encouragement everyone's stories give me. I know it's not ALL roses, but it's much easer with a bunch of hands to hold! Thanks all!
  4. I am actually driving to Denver for Dr. Weaver. He is running an AWESOME special right now for $8450! My pre-op diet is no carb/high protein for 2 weeks to shrink the liver. I've seen ppl on here doing a 2 week all liquid diet, so I'm not sure. I guess it just depends on what ur Dr. suggests. Let me know what u think of Dr. Malley, I think I'll be using him for my fills, cuz driving to CO every 2 weeks to a month is not really an option!
  5. Welcome! KC here too (well, Blue Springs) and I'm scheduled for March 1st. Who's ur doc?
  6. Hello friends! I am so excited right now that I can't hardly sit still! I am scheduled to be banded March 1st by Dr. John Weaver in CO. I am 31 yrs old and live in Blue Springs, MO, so I'll be driving 9 hrs. The great part is that my in-laws are going as well, so we are making a 5 day mini-vacation out of the deal. I've never seen the mountains, so I'm super stoked! We have 4 kids that keep me VERY busy, 3 in school. I have the best husband a girl could ask for, but when it came to being banded, he was very hesitant. He likes the "fluff". Well, the "fluff" has worn out its welcome. I've been fighting my weight all my life, and am now at 225lbs. I've been able to lose weight in the past (for God's sake I could prob write a book on diet and nutrition) but never had the willpower to keep it off. So...here I am, now accepting the fact that I need help. I need something to physically stop this addiction. My mind is in a good place, and I'm ready to commit. I had my consult with Dr. Weaver this morn by phone, and tmrw morn is with the nutritionist, Paula. I start my pre-op diet Thurs of no carb/high protein. Everyone there is AMAZING and sooo helpful. I'm not another number. I will keep posting as my journey continues!
  7. Sweet! Talked to my surgeon today, and he says the water method is fine. He uses it bcuz he says when u start to ferl restriction with water, u KNOW it's gonna restrict food even more! Seems like either is okay, just a matter of preference. I just can't wait to get this show on the road!
  8. They told me to wear sweats or stretch pants to the hospital. U will be bloated from the gas and the surgery itself. Good luck!
  9. Ugh! That sucks! It's $250 here too, but $150 WITHOUT flouro. I guess I'll go for the extra $100 so I KNOW what's going on!
  10. Congrats on the banding date of March 1st! We're "banding buddies", cuz I'm March 1st also!
  11. Hi fellow Bandsters! I am scheduled to have Lap Band surgery March 1st! Yay I am leaving state for my procedure, but want to find follow up care including fills here in KC. I am searching docs and found that some use flouroscopy and barium swallow routinely, and others don't. Obviously the x-ray guided fills are more expensive, but I'm wondering which fill approach got u into the "green zone" quicker? I'd rather pay more for a more accurate fill than to go several times (wasting more time and $) to play the guessing game. What are your experiences using both approaches in the first couple months following surgery? Thanks in advance!
  12. So far everyone has been amazing, and super informative. U don't feel like "another number". I'm scheduled for March 1st. Will update along the way!
  13. March 1st here! I will be posting with updates the whole way! Super excited!!!!!
  14. Hi there everyone! Just confirmed my surgery date yesterday....March 1st! I am seeing Dr. Weaver in Denver and driving 8 hrs! I start my pre-op diet in a week (on Feb 16th), so I have a week left to enjoy all my old favs! I am so excited to FINALLY put an end to this fight. I'm not afraid to admit when I need help. I've been able to lose weight in the past, but the keeping it off is IMPOSSIBLE! I always resume my old habits. With the Band I know I will have to change my entire mindset of obsessing over food, but I know I can do it! Glad to see some others are around my date so we can keep in touch and enjoy this journey together!
  15. I am SUPER-DE-DUPER excited now that I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Weaver for March 1st! One of the reasons I decided on Dr. Weaver is because of the awesome special he is running, but let me tell u, the quality of patient relations is NOT compromised! I did a TON of research before deciding, and was a phone call away from going to Mexico. For those considering out of country Lap-Band, just know that surgery with Dr. Weaver isn't much different in cost when u consider the hefty non-refundable deposit required, airfare, passports, and all the hoops u have to jump through. I also found that there were hidden costs, and u had to buy THEIR vitamins, THEIR protein supplements and shakes, etc. Lots of out-of-pockets cost involved. The second reason I chose Dr. Weaver is because they have a PERFECT package especially for out-of-town patients requiring only ONE visit. The pre-op is the day before surgery, and Dr. Weaver's consult is over the phone. Today I spoke with Paula (the nutritionist) to set up that over the phone consult as well. She is super sweet. So far, my experience with Natalie (the scheduler) has been awesome, too! Everyone is so thorough and personable, willing to answer questions and quick to return calls/emails. U don't feel like just a number. I will be updating as my journey continues!
