  1. Hey Roomie Pam.... I think Walmart here got wind of your surgery. There was a whole shopping cart full of Kotex on clearance! I thought of you when I saw it.:tt2::biggrin:
  2. Good Morning, Violets.. I'm dressed for church and sitting here choking down my oatmeal with raisins. A year ago I'd never have even considered oatmeal. I loathed it! And here I am having a bowl most mornings. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Laura!!!!! OMG.. your before and after pics are amazing!! What a difference in your appearance and your smile!! Terry....the houses are beautiful. YOu gotta take some pictures of the inside next time! Time to get the car warmed up and head to church. It's 27 degrees out this beautiful Spring (cough, cough) morning! Everyone have a great day. Make wise choices and drink, drink, drink! Whatever happened to Lunasa, Cindy, Adorable and Panda?? Did we scare them off??

Shrink'n Violets TIP 'O THE DAY!!

The Rules of chocolate 1. If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly. 2. Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want. 3. The problem: How to get two pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car. The solution: Eat it in the parking lot. 4. Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It'll take the edge off your appetite and you'll eat less. 5. If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves. 6. If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet? Don't they actually counteract each other? 7. Money talks. Chocolate sings. 8. Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger. 9. Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. 10. A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Isn't that handy? 11. If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with you?

33 Days Til The Violet Bandiversary Bash!!
  5. Good evening, Violets. It finally stopped snowing and raining so I'm headed out to the hot tub for some exercise and relaxation. Didn't do much of anything today. I took a nap and then we went to Walmart to get a few things. We didn't get the trim cause the Bobster said it wouldn't fit in the Buick so we'll take my Aztek in tomorrow and get it. It was the perfect weather today for just being lazy and we took advantage of it. Monday we head down to the docs for a fill. As I've told you before, it's a four hour trip so we make a day of it. I'm not going to do any clothes shopping this time as I have tons that I need to sort through. I'm confident all the winter things I bought this year will be too big for me next winter so I need to start packing them away for a garage sale in June. DD and I will do that before our cruise to earn a little bit of extra spending money. Everyone take care. Sleep well. Catch you tomorrow!!

    I need HELP PLEASE ASAP

You won't stretch the pouch with one blended meal. The reason you are to be on liquids and then mushies before regular food is to give yourself time to heal. One blended meal a couple of days before they are allowed is not going to hurt you at all. Just be good between now and Monday and you'll be fine.
  7. The most was 233# prior to surgery. The least was 7# 2 oz. on June 24, 1947.
  8. Good afternoon, Violets. It's still snowing here, but not sticking to the ground anymore. Everything is now just wet and muddy. We had 7 at our support group meeting. I'm sure the weather kept several from venturing out. One of the new ladies has had the band since last May and has only lost 15#. We talked with her a lot. She thought the band was going to do it all and she didn't have to work at it. She's going to switch doctors too since she has not seen her doctor since the surgery, only the nurses for a fill. We all talked about how the weight loss has slowed down and how we are all trying to get our motivation back. I feel more motivated now that I am in my second year and I feel much better not even thinking about a scale. I haven't weighed in since we started our contest. I won't weigh until Monday when I go in for a fill. I need to work on my head, concentrate on what I'm putting in my mouth now and not worry about numbers. I'm only going to worry about numbers when I go in for fills. That's my new attitude. We'll see how long that lasts!! Lazy day today. We're headed to Home Depot to pick up some trim and that's about it for the day. Might even squeeze a nap in!! Catch ya later!
  9. Merry Christmas, Violets. Oh wait... It's April, isn't it?? Can't tell by looking outside here. We got 2 inches of snow last night and it's still snowing big, fluffy flakes. It's pretty, but dang it... it's supposed to be SPRING!!! We have our lapband support group this morning. I'm anxious to see how many we have. I'm sure the weather is going to make it hard for some people to get there. Today is just talking, but next month I'm having a nutritionist come in to speak. Obviously we are not working in the yard today as planned, but we have lots of work to do inside. The moulding is almost all done and now we have to do the wood trim on the wall corners. I have curtains to hem and the Bobster has the curtain rod to hang here in the breezeway and then this room will be finished. I'm really pleased with the results in both rooms. Roomie.. great to hear you are doing ok. Relax today and don't overdo!! Tracyk.. your comments echo what I feel. If I don't lose another pound, I am happy with what I have done so far. And I too will be working hard on losing, but the pounds are not the focus for me now. I'm into judging by my clothes and my attitude. I'm at my lowest weight in about 30 years right now and couldn't be happier. I still have my goal to work towards, but I know it's going to be slow going from here on in and I'm ok with that. TracyinKS... I wouldn't begin to give you words of advice cause I have never had the issues you are experiencing. You received great advice from those that have been through it. I can only offer my support and lots of Purple Power. So if I don't respond right away, it's not because I don't care. I just need to give those that have suggestions time to respond. The Bobster just reminded me we have to leave in about 40 minutes and I'm not dressed yet so I better get off here. Everyone have a great day, make wise choices, drink that water and enjoy your Christmas presents!!!

  11. I called and let Terry know too as soon as I saw the post from Pam. I figured she'd have a lot of phone calls.. Didn't get to talk as the connection was really bad. Back to playing ball with Ethan. We're going out for fish dinner tonight. Catch everyone later!!
  12. Hey there Roomie!!! How did everything go???? glad you're back safe and sound. Now relax and take care of yourself. Better yet, relax and let Susanne take care of you!!!
  13. Laura, I used to have that before I was banded. The doc repaired my hiatal hernia during the lapband surgery and I have no acid reflux issues at all anymore. That was another perk of the surgery. I had acid reflux so bad I had to sleep just about sitting up at night.
  14. Terry.. we must have been posting at the same time with the same thoughts!! Jane, our weather here is anything but springlike. Last night it started to rain about a half hour after we got out of the hot tub. Then it changed to sleet and I was sure our power was going to go off with all the sleet I could hear. I went downstairs a couple of times to see what it looked like cause it sounded so bad. It was winter again. The grass was covered with sleet, but it's gone now. Unfortunately we are supposed to get up to 2 inches of snow tonight. Ahhhhhhhhhhh Spring in Northern Michigan. My journal said last year on the 16th of April it was 85 degrees here!! I doubt that is going to happen this year. Laundry is calling so I'm off again. I'm going to keep this open all day so be aware it might look like I'm here when I'm not.
  15. Good Morning, Violets. Ethan is here and he just zipped my neck in the zipper of my jogging suit. OUCH!!! If he wasn't so darn cute, I'd smack him!! :scared2: The Wynn?? Tracy, that is one of the most beautiful hotels on the strip!!!!!! It's where the celebrities go when they stay in Vegas!! You're going to have a great time and you're a great representative of the lapbanders. Don't forget to tell them about the Shrinkin' Violets and the thread YOU started!!! TracyK.. HAPPY BANDIVERSARY TO YOU!!!! You'll spend the day thinking.. at this time last year.. I reread my journal from a year ago last night and it was darn good reading. I've kept a journal since April 10, 2007 and have written in it every day about how I felt and what I ate and what life was/is like. I'm on my second notebook now. Ethan want to play so gotta run. Catch you later!
  16. Good evening, Violets. Had a great day today. We kept saying... "well, a year ago at this time I was in surgery... or a year ago, I was up and walking the floors or a year ago... (fill in the blank). Am I at goal after a year?.. nope... am I thrilled to be where I am?... you BETCHA!!! and I know that 2008 will be the year I hit my goal. I also know I've made a great bunch of friends and can't wait to get to Texas in a little over a month!!! I have Ethan tomorrow so I need to head to bed to build up some strength!! Everyone have a good night. Sleep well. I'm thinkin' about you ROOMIE!!! I'll be there holding your hand in spirit tomorrow. Check in when you can. Love ya!!!

    Gruene Violets

:sad_smile:35 Days Til The Violet Bandiversary Bash!!:scared2:
  18. Good Morning, Violets.. Today is my 1 year Bandiversary and what a difference a year makes!! I'm down from a size 3X to a L in tops and from 22/24 to a regular 14, sometimes 12 in pants. I didn't weigh this morning cause I've been bad with snacks. We go for a fill on Monday and will see how that helps. I sure don't feel full on a cup of food anymore so it must be time for a fill. Today I have a nail appointment and then my hospital shift. Then it will be laundry and house cleaning for the rest of the day. It's the first day this week I haven't had a ton of places to be. Ethan's mom, my DIL, was released from the hospital yesterday, but with no meds. That's just insane, but when we talk to DS about it, he gets angry and defensive so there's not much we can do. I'll let his sister do the talking and hope he listens to her. Michelle....you are doing awesome!!! Sounds just like right after surgery when the weight melted off. Keep up the great work!!! Pamela...we're all thinking about you these next few days. Kat..hope you hear some good news from the doc today. Tracyk...purple power and prayers with you today at the doc. Jennifur..hang in there and the pounds will continue dropping. I'm in the same boat as you! Terry....power tools for jewelry making??? woooo hooooo!! Gotta run and get ready to head to the manicurist. Everyone have a great day. Make wise choices and drink, drink, drink!! TRACYINKS.... WHERE ARE YOU???????

:huh2:36 Days Til The Violet Bandiversary Bash!!
  20. Good Morning, Violets.. We had a bad thunderstorm last night and Jetta, the garage dog went balistic. She wanted to come in the house so badly, but that wasn't going to happen. She finally calmed down when the thunder stopped. We woke up this morning to paint spilled in the breezeway. Luckily there is no carpeting in my house except for the stairway and the "gym". We figure the cat must have knocked over the can jumping up to the computer table. Got it all cleaned up and now ready to start my day. I have a flute rehearsal this morning, funeral this afternoon and choir and German class tonight. My DS called and he got the new job he applied for. We're so proud of him. It's a cut in pay down from a six figure salary, but at his job now he works overtime every day and has for years. He misses out on so much with the family. The new job will take him traveling to troubleshoot robotics. His first trip will be to Malaysia!! I'd also like prayers for Ethan's mom. She is bi-polar and yesterday hit a wall. She is in the psychiatric unit at the hospital for today and maybe tomorrow. Probably the best thing that could happen to her as she has not been on her meds for a long time. DS is taking the day off of work so we don't have Ethan today, but don't know about the rest of the week. Please keep her in your prayers. Gotta scoot and get to my rehearsal. Everyone have a good day.

  22. Evening Violets.. Long day and time for bed. Too tired to go out to the hot tub. Everyone sleep well. Catch ya tomorrow.
  23. Anybody home???? Got my hair cut and my first rehearsal done. I'm off to bell choir rehearsal, then out to eat with the Bobster and then New Day Singers rehearsal. I'll certainly be ready for the hot tub tonight!!
  24. Good Morning, Violets.. I'm getting an early start on a very busy day. Once I leave for my hair appointment, I'll be gone all day with a luncheon and three musical practices. There are days when I wish I could just say NO and be retired, but music is in my blood so I keep on keepin' on. Kat... so sorry to hear your news. Tons of purple power and prayers are already headed your way. Suzie...I know you're headed out already, but you know you take our prayers with you also. Jane... good luck on the weigh in today, but no matter what the scales say, you have done an awesome job on the weight loss!! I have been bouncing around for the last few months too, but from reading the threads, it's perfectly normal. I firmly believe our bodies reach "set points" and we have to do things differently to break through. I haven't stepped up exercise or done anything different and it shows. But at least the numbers are not going up and staying up. I better get going and get my hair and face done and some breakfast choked down. Everyone have a good day. Make wise choices and drink that water. Special hugs for those going through difficult times.
