  1. Just letting you all know, I work for a plastic surgeon (I had LapBand surgery over 4yrs ago)- and most of those surgeries are not covered by insurance. The panniculectomy is covered with proof of photographs showing the "apron" which is a lot of hanging skin. I'm not sure if this applies to all insurance companies out of state. But in NY it's very hard to have those procedures covered. I had a mastopexy/augmentation last year and I paid for it.

    Good luck!

  2. OMG! I would love to have mentor' date=' I was banded on April 3 2013, and I have lost no weight no weight since then, I currently weight 220, and my age is 45 I think maybe because I am too old maybe that's I can't lose the weight. I feel so sad, I was working as school counselor broke my leg now it's ok but gained the weight lost my job can't lose the just feel awful about everything, I am sorry I you said you are willing to mentor I didn't mean to dump my sob story on you, but if you would be my mentor I would love that now more than anything in this world now!! My email is counselor.khan@yahoo.com and my # is (619)277-6724[/quote']

I will email you!!!! We got this! ;-) no sob stories here! We are a team!

  3. I work for a plastic surgeon and the first question we ask patient when inquiring about the abdominoplasty is "have you had children?, if so are you finished?"

I don't think you should do it unless you choose not to have children....

if you have children you will re-stretch your skin and will probably need another surgery in the future... You should wait unless you have a panniculectomy... It's when they remove the excess skin that hangs... In most cases insurance companies will cover it. Good luck sweetie :) I also plan on having surgery soon just wanna get to my ideal weight first.

  4. I work for an excellent group of plastic surgeons... I will eventually will have surgery and I'm here if anyone has questions... There is a surgery that is covered by your insurance company if proven medically necessary... It's called a panniculectomy. The difference between that and a Tummy Tuck is that they only remove the excess skin versus tightening the muscles of the abdomen. If deemed medically necessary, your insurance company should pay for it :)

  5. Hey! It's usually above the "biggest scar" atleast an inch above... Mine is above my bellybutton. If you aren't sore you can press it and you will feel something hard it's so weird because you can't see it but you can feel it! Lol doctors usually put it above the belly button or on the left or right side of the abdomen...congrats on your band :)

  6. I currently "mentor" 3 people, but I came back on here because not only do I want to spread my positive support... But I want to take people along my journey... What do you people think? I wanted to almost have a video blog and invite people to see what happens lol I lost over 100 pounds and I'm thinking of having cosmetic surgery to correct what I cannot fix with the gym. I know a lot of people in our shoes feel the same way... But I don't really know if this is a good site for it.. Should I you tube it? Anyway, I would love to support anyone in my area (long island-NY)! I'm proud to be a banded beauty.. And I'm happy to rejoin this great site!
