  1. Well my fellow June Bandsters it has been 1 week today since my surgery. Feeling better every day and able to get more liquids in and even some cottage cheese.

HOWEVER; This morning I weighed myself and I had gain 2 pounds from yesterday. What the heck is that all about?

So I was down 20 pounds yesterday starting back to pre-op diet.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

I am 3 weeks out now I lost 10 pounds in pre ops diet then 10 pounds first week for almost 2 weeks I am the same weight.. A day I gain 1 or 2 pounds second day the 1 or 2 pounds is gone and so on... I called the clinic they said u r in the healing stage now so dont look at ur weight even if u gained one or 2 pounds u r still okay till ur first fill....

  2. Hi

I hope results will come back to normal soon…I am hypo as well.. I think the issue is not the lap band surgery itself the issue is that with unbalanced thyroid level you will not be able to lose that much weight if any so for me it is waste of money and time if you do it with a high level of thyroid you will struggle to lose a pound…Actually I never been over weight in my whole life.. I was always 132 pounds till my thyroid and pregnancy take place and I am now 240 pounds… So Thyroid really affects your metabolism if it is unbalanced. You can go ahead with the surgery and your doc maybe will not stop the surgery but I were you I would wait till my thyroid level is balanced as most of the weight lose will be in your first year so don’t waste this year because your thyroid is not balanced..

For the medication it has to be daily first thing in the morning same time daily and no Vitamins with them especially Iron and Calcium and never eat anything that has calcium 2 hrs after the medication (milk, cheese ,…) and not to eat for an hr in general.. some people taking the medication at night before bed if they can’t wait for Multivitamins, Breakfast and coffee for that long ask your doc about this option… not a good idea to forget your bills because this is you have stressing your body one day you give your body the hormone another day not…

At the end don’t worry I am sure everything will be all right.. every time I got pregnant my level goes dramatically up and it goes back to normal when I change my dose…

  3. I had my surgery on July 1st and yes this was me for day 3 I forget to drink my Protein I was acttually pushing myself... I had two parties in this period one was in my house and I managed not to eat... that is normal as your body is now creating something called ketoses which make you feel full... just keep in mind that if you cheated once ketoses will go away from your body and you will feel hungry again.. so the key DONT CHEAT even once...

  4. very interesting, thanks for posting this website as I am having surgery next week. My doc is sending me home with a 24 hr liquid diet then on to mushy foods, wonder why so fast on mushy foods. All I've read on here is everyone is on liquids for a week or two. hm?

    Donna

Donna not sure if you will be able to do that or not for me 1st day was Water only day 2 till day 7 pure liquid only including proitien shakes and yougrt shake not usual yougrt.. but to be honest till day 3 I was not able even to drink my Water so I was pushing myself so not to be dehydated not sure how you will be on mushy second day.. for me I think I would try mushy on day 5 I guess I didnt do it as my doc said NO to it however I feel I could do it...

  5. BTW-See page 24 and on in that manual from Peachtree.

I hear you when it comes to being hungry. I entered bandster hell(your in bandster hell already) the 2nd week too. I think I was more hungry than before. But, for me, I wasn't able to eat nearly as much as before. Even though I had no restriction, I felt satiated quicker and it lasted longer. I was still able to lose 12 lbs the first month.

Try to eat healthy foods and don't beat yourself up if you consume too much. It could be a while before you find your "Green zone".

Thanks for the information I went over the PDF u gave me and it is very helpful almost what the doc gave me wz more varaity and more information...but still they didnt say what should be the portions.. so today at night I was so hungry that I ate Yogert ( which is ok for this this stage) but non stop I mean I ate A LOT and really A LOT.. so basically what u were saying dont consider portions in this stage?!!! aha I also dring my shakes and drink a lot of water...

  6. The gas pains are awful How have those of you that have had surgery dealt with them? I've used gas x walking and heating pad. They only seem worse

I am not sure when was your Sugery but for me 2nd day was the worse gas pain ever I cried and cried and called the doc.. Gas X didnt do a lot of work with me as well but WALK WALK WALK hard and will not go away but for me 3rd day was better I felt the gas pain but was able to handle and I also WALKED WALKED AND WALKED and 4th day the gas pain was cleared.... Good luck

  7. My sister and I were both banded on June 1st! I'm excited about my new journey!! Friday Will be a week since I was banded...I Will also weigh in Friday! Kind of nervous about the first fill....

WAW what a surprise I wented t your profile to add u to my friend list and I figured out we share the same BD 25th of Jan but my year was 76:: so same BD and same band day:)

  8. I am not on any BP medications.. my blood presure is in normal range however I ocasionally experiance a very low BP... it ended up with two ER visits in the last 5 years... I gave birth 6 months ago and as soon as I took the epedural my blood presure went really low I think 80/50 or so.. they gave me a needle and it went back to normal...

I had my surgery on June 1st ( last Friday) when they measured my BP it was 120/40 which is very very low.. because my hauband and my whole family is form a health care background so I know how dangeriuos is to go to a surgery with a low BP so I told my doc I can reschdule if he think it is better.. he said no worry and he told me he will take care after that looks like he gave me a needle or something as while I am in the operation room he told me this will bring your BP back to normal ( not sure though if this is teh regulatr medication or something in speical for that) I told the anestiasa Doc please please please keep an eye on my BP all the time ( gthis is what my sister whom is a doc told me to ask him) and if you think it is better to stop please do I will not be sad... Thanks God all went fine as far as I know I never have a chance to ask the doc what was my BP doing..

I am telling you this story as I were in an opposite situation that I was ablt to stop the operation better than risk my life... So dont worry it is better that they did this as that was for sure the best for you...

Good luck and enjoy ur last days withour ur band :)

  10. great job Mariaband!!

I haven't heard anything about blood thinners, is this for everyone? I have my surgery Friday and they will call Thursday with the time and g over any questions so I'm definitely going to ask them.

    What is it for?

What kind of medicine do they give for the pain? I heard something about liquid vicodin? How would this be given?

    Pre-op diet, down 13lbs :)

I never heard about blood thinner too.. I didnt take any so no worries... I took 5 pills for pian 2 hrs before surgery I forget the names on the medication but they were 2+2+1 and after surgery they gave me liquid codine which is very bad taste for me so I was mixing them with either Water for the first day or carmberry juise ( low cal) second day... I just took the pain medication for 2 days twice daily so not the full prescibed dose ( they could be every 4 to 6 hrs) so for me every 12 hrs was fine...Second day was the worst... third day I was out of the pain killer medication.. what helped me a lot is walking and Gas X... Third day me and my hsuband went to shopping and I just walked didnt carry anything but this makes the gas pain almost GONE...

So happy for you for teh 13 pounds keep it up and good luck dont worry everything will be fine...
