    Pre-op any advise?

I am still pre-op as well, my surgery is Feb 11....but all the feelings your having seem to be normal! I am going through all this and freaking myself out! Just know that there is a reason that we are willing to go to the extremes of getting surgery! And just educate yourself as much as you can, I have been trolling these forums for a really long time before even making my decision, and I have learned a ton! As far as my doubts, they scare me but I am going to work hard to not let them become my reality!
  3. Hi Guys n' Gals! Just wondering if anyone has ever tried any of the FitSmart Protein powder, when I asked him what he recommended for Protein Powder this is what he suggested, and was super happy that it had lots of Fiber in it, he really stressed not getting constipated!!! Just wondering if its band buddy approved before I spend 40 dollars on a tub of it, because I can only find it online ....

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

I think support is going to be such a huge factor in this journey for all of us, some of us have great support systems, some dont....but my hope is that those people who don't use this forum and all the great people on it as there support system, checking in and being accountable to each other! February is fast on our heals and its already great to know that I am not the only one going through this huge rush of crazy emotions, and the thing that scares me most is being scared that I am going to fail! I have not went through this whole process of finally getting my date to fail! I want to a huge success and I am going to work hard to become one!!

    Port...left or right?

I haven't spoken to the surgeon about it, but I did talk to his nurse and she said that is where he puts them, but if I didn't feel comfortable with it there they would put in my stomach where everyone else seem to be...I am trying to get a little feedback, because I have seen a few people that have posted in the past about it and would really like to talk to them, it honestly seems like a better place to put it when I think about it...I just need some more info, like I said I really trust my surgeon so more than likely am going to go what he feels is best.

    Port...left or right?

My surgery is scheduled for Feb 11, I will be one of this people whose port will be under the armpit-ish.....I go in for all all my pre op stuff next tues and plan on asking Dr why he chooses that area, but I have faith in my Dr.....does anyone else have there port in this area.....pros and cons?
  9. I will be on the banded side of the bench of Feb 11th.....its all starting to get very REAL!
  10. Jm....I am being banded in Feb as well! I am VERY nervous and alot of other crazy emotions as well! But I am VERY WELL educated on what is going to happen and know what to expect, this has made it easy for me to move along in the process of knowing for sure that this is what I want...yes there are so many negative things out there about the band, but as everyone says its lack of education and understanding of what the band really is and what it will "help" you achieve, because its not just going to make everything going away and the weight magically fall off, a lot of work and dedication will go into this process for all of us! I really urge you to learn as much as you can before you the surgery, and also check out the success stories and pictures, it really is inspiring!!
  11. Thanks Guys!!! I am really excited and nervous and so many emotions going through my body!! Its defiantly going to be a journey! One that I am so willing to take to get healthy and happy!!!

    OK Ladies...Let's talk Boob's...

I think I am the only girl on the planet that wants "the girls" to shrink along with the rest of my body...and there only a 38DD now....I just want to be the perfect handful is what I tell my husband, he thinks I am crazy!

    Tricare prime

Have you looked up your BMI, is it over 40? With Tri-Care you have to have a BMI 40 and over, or 35 (I believe) with co-morbitities, go to the Tri-care website and type in Bariatric Surgery, and the list of requirements will come up...GOOD LUCK!
  14. I was approved!!!

  15. So I am finally near the end of the pre-op journey (I think!) My paperwork should go in to insurance in the next few days and from there I will get a date if everything goes well, I have been waiting so long for this....But for some reason all I have wanted to do is eat, I sat down and ate a whole damn bag of funyans the other night...afterwards all I could think is what the heck is wrong with me. Why do I feel the need to eat junk like this now......am I the only one who goes through this pre-op before the pre-op diet....I am kind of panicking as ready as I am for the band I am so scared to fail and my eating habbits the last few days scare the crappy out of me that I will fail my band

    Stuffing myself!

I know I will be okay once I am banded first because I have been successfully many times with diets and losing weight....I just can't seem to keep it off...I really feel like I am having a funeral for all the food and greiving for the upcoming loss...I don't know what else it is (other than the monthly visitor) but still I don't eat like this...it just has me nervous

    Fort carson,CO??

My husband was stationed at Carson (we pcs'd one yr ago) buy we lived on USAFA I saw the doctors there and none of them seemed very willing to push forward with WLS for me, all I can say is keep switching your PCM untill you find someone willing to advocate for you! good luck!

    Tricare

That sounds great, my paperwork will be getting sent in for APPROVAL next week! The lady in charge of the finance and insurance dept at the hospital said that Tri-Care usually gets back with the approval/denial in 72 hrs or so! I am hoping this is the case for me! I am so tired of jumping through hoops and just waiting to get on the band-wagon!!!

    Tricare

Hi ladies, I also have tricare south. My Dr. Is sending my paperwork in on Monday or Tues as long as I do not need any additional testing, I am just praying everything will go smoothly! For Carla #1 why so they keep denying you and what region are you in. For Carla #2, what state are u in and how long did it take for your approval to come through?
  21. Soooo I finally got the ball rolling after going through the famous 6 months of monitoring my weight with a physician, Today I got the general surgery referral, I was soo thrilled, then I called the office to find out, this Dr. only performs the lap-band surgery, my problem is that I want the RNY, and tri-care was no help trying to find a general surgeon in the area who also specializes in bariatric surgery, or atleast can walk me through the general surgery part of it, just to get the approval from them and then be reffererd to a Dr who will do my surgery (which I am guessing will be in Atlanta). So my question is....Has anyone went through this process, how did you work with it! AND...is anyone from Columbus GA and going through this, or have already went through it and can help a sister out!!! I feel like its just been one set back after another with Tri-Care!
