  1. I'll keep you in my prayers. You'll feel SO much better!
  2. I know multiple people who have Lupus and the band but you definitely will want to speak to your Rheumatologist before deciding to get the band. Lupus is one of the few diseases listed as a contradiction to having the Lap Band. So, it definitely would need to be discussed with your doctor first. Best wishes
  3. It just sounds like you irritated your stomach and now it needs time to rest. If I were you, I'd go on liquids for 24 hours to let it calm then slowly work back to regular food. If that doesn't help, you need to call your doctor.
  4. No. It's not mandatory that it's covered and many don't. It's considered an elective surgery.
  5. Yes, in fact I've had a .1cc unfill before.
  6. If you are taking small enough bites and still PBing whenever you try to eat, you're not in the yellow zone. You're too tight and in the red zone.
  7. Oh no, I'm so sorry. I will tell you this, a gallbladder can really mess you up when it goes. I had high liver enzymes, low kidney function, low potassium, and my blood pressure was only 90/50 all because my gallbladder was so bad. Let them take it and deal with the Lap Band after. You could end up really sick if you don't.
  8. I don't think about it at all unless I'm eating. Because eating small bites and chewing til mush has become second nature to me, sometimes I don't even think about it when eating.
  9. I had my gallbladder out about 4 weeks ago but had my band last January. Can/will your surgeon do both your gallbladder and band at the same time? I've read others on here who have.
  10. Holy crud that is REALLY high!! Are you ok?! Did he tell you what to do to get it down besides the liquid diet?
  11. Wow I'm so incredibly sorry. Be careful with your liquids between now and Friday. I'd stay away from juice or anything sugary. Can I ask how high your sugar is running and how low do you need it to be to safely have surgery? I really, really hope this works for you because I am guessing the band and weight loss would help you so much.
  12. I really adore Tammy, too. I'm very sad she's leaving. I just got the thing in the mail for that. I haven't been in the bariatric office in almost 2 months because I had my gallbladder out a month ago so I saw Dr. Bhesania in his surgical office after that and now I'm having hernia repair and a tummy tuck May 1. I would love to go to her farewell party but not sure if I can. My grandma just passed yesterday so I'm super busy with funeral arrangements and out of town family this whole week. But, I do want to try to go if I can.
  13. I'm so glad you're doing so well! I know our doctors have stricter post op diet than most (to others reading this, our surgeons are partners) but it works. Maybe we'll pass each other in the office one day!
  14. You need to back into your surgeon. You're too tight. Most sweets are slider foods, that's why you can eat them and why you're gaining weight.
  15. Liquids should go through ease. If you chew properly and take small enough bites, everything should go through with ease. Eating should never be a chore nor should food get stuck. You talked about going to Mexico, don't you have a local doctor to take of you? You should.
  16. You have to find out if they cover it under any circumstances and if they do, what their requirements are.
  17. Here's some information I think will help you, it's about dietary needs for Addison's disease. According to this, low carb diets wouldn't be a good choice for you because you actually need complex carbohydrates, low potassium, and extra sodium http://www.livestrong.com/article/442299-addisons-disease-diet/
  18. Hunger is your body's natural response to needing fuel and to be expected. During the post op diet, people are often horribly hungry because liquids and mushy food aren't filling at all. I know it's a hard but time you're just going to have power through it to give your body time heal. It'll get easier.
  19. Another thing to consider, even though a lot of insurance won't pay for WLS, most will pay for serious complications due to them because that is then considered a medical necessity. Perhaps you should check with yours so your mom won't have to pay? Just a thought.
  20. Wow congratulations on your incredible weight losses. That is truly amazing. I'm so sorry you're having this problem. So you have band over bypass. When is the last time you saw your surgeon? Is your band slipped? Also, what size band do you have?
  21. Everything on this link: The Lap Band is NOT About Restriction I wish I could give this to everyone planning on getting the band so they'd have realistic expectations of their bands and know what is expected of them to be successful with their band.
  22. I agree with eating when you're hungry- that's how I do it, too. But the rest I don't agree with. Vegetables are a great source of important nutrients and most doctors and nutritionists want us to eat them. I know I eat A LOT of salad and I load them up with Protein, too.
  23. This is strictly my opinion. I'm not a doctor nor a nutritionist. Once you're healed back on regular food, you have to find food guidelines that work for you. Everyone is different and what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the rest. You have to find out what works best for you and your metabolism. I personally can't do the whole low carb/no carb thing. I need a diet routine that I can use for the rest of my life and that definitely isn't it. I believe in moderation not deprivation. I also believe there's nothing wrong with carbs as long as you choose healthy ones. I've lost over 200 pounds in 15 months btw so I'm living proof that you can lose while having carbs. I would go talk to a nutritionist, tell them your dilemma and see if maybe you can come up with a plan that is better for your life and more nutritionally balanced. When I originally saw mine, I told her flat out I refused to feel like I was being deprived and I didn't buy into the whole "carbs are bad" fad. She agreed and together we came up with a plan that works great for me. Best wishes.
  24. Not unless you consumed over 5800 calories a day for those 3 days.
