What Is Pbing?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ineed2dothis4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It means Productive Burping. It's when you literally burp stuck food back up. It's very different than vomiting as it's not forceful and doesn't involve the stomach straining or retching. It's actually very similar to when a baby spits up. -

Ohhh, I'm not seeing the link because of the view! Thanks CG! As for likes, I get notifications my post was liked, but you can't see on the posts who liked which posts anymore. (yeah ok, that probably didn't make sense but I tried lol!) -
Question For Those With Serious Lap Band Problems
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Christina.Rose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've never had a complication, but I can share what I've learned over the last two years. can you feel a difference between vomiting vs PB? I know the health complications related to vomit, and I also am not asking about the flu etc. -There is a big difference between PBing and vomiting. PBing is a gentle burping up of stuck food. Vomiting is a forceful retching. When you PB, it's literally just a burp that brings up food, almost like when you think of a baby spitting up. When you vomit, it makes your stomach contract and forcefully spasm. It's that forceful, violent nature of vomiting that is so dangerous because it can lead to a slip. Did anyone feel Ok but were told you slipped or eroded etc? -It's uncommon but you can have serious complications without pain or significant symptoms. How fast is papaya enzyme or pineapple juice supposed to clear you from being stuck? -It can take minutes or hours to resolve a stuck episode depending on the severity. However, if you're having them regularly, you should probably evaluate your eating habits to make sure you're not taking too big of a bite or eating too much. Stuck episodes shouldn't be a 'regular' thing. If you are having concerns about your band, call your doctor. It's always better to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to matters of health. Good luck. -
Question For Alex

Yesterday, when there was still link for reporting bugs at the top of the page (no idea why that's now gone), I actually reported that bug. I agree, I would like to be able to see "likes" again. -
How Long Does It Take Pineapple Juice To Unstuck You?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Christina.Rose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Be careful sipping anything if you're truly stuck. Sometimes, it can actually make things worse. Plus pineapple is very acidic so you definitely don't want that sitting in the stomach above the band. Good luck! -

Uncomfortable.. Gas, Under Ribcage.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to HeatherinCA's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It's really important you don't ignore this, or try to diagnose the problem online, and make an appointment to see your bariatric surgeon ASAP. It could be nothing but it could a lot of other things too, including a bad gallbladder, hernia, or even a slip. There are way too many possibilities to even guess what could be wrong but some of them are serious. I'd call first thing Monday morning to make an appointment. Good luck. -

My goodness, what an ordeal!!! I'm so glad he was able to figure out the problem. Though, I'll be honest, if I were in your shoes I'd be seriously pissed at the surgeon. I hope your journey is now problem free. Best wishes! -
Gotta Get This Off My Chest
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to SandyM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the kind words, btw The only advice I can give you is that the type you describe exist on all forums, not just baritric forums. You could go to a forum for computer geeks and I guarantee you'll have oldbies trying pull a holier-than-thou on the newbies. I've seen it happen. Heck, I've even have it happen on a forum for Multiple Sclerosis patients. I actually had someone try to pretty much discredit me because I've "only" been diagnosed for 5 years. ONLY 5 years? LOL! My point is- it happens everywhere. The other thing to keep in mind is that text is a horrible communication medium. Unlike the spoken word, there is no voice reflection or body language to give cues as to the speaker's tone. I could say to you "Oh don't be silly!" and you have no idea if I'm smiling playfully or rolling my eyes condescendingly. Because of this I've seen LOTS of major communication break downs on online forums. Hang in there and know the majority of people here welcome the newcomers and respect your intelligence -
Preparing For Winter
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to freedom4emjay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Michigan so I totally understand the need for warm, waterproof boots for winter that aren't too heavy to walk around in. I can't recommend a specific brand, but I do know your best bet is going to a bigger shoe store and looking for a good hiking boot. They come with good tread and Water proof outsides- both necessary when trudging through snow and over ice. Last year I found a pair at d**k's Sporting Goods for about $80. EDIT: LOL it censored the name of the store!! It's D-i-c-k's, it's the store name not a curse! HAHAHAHA! -
Pain At Incision Site
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to mm1315's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm no doctor so I have no medical expertise whatsoever, but being as you're only two days post op I'd say any incision pain is pretty normal if not expected. This is particularly true around your port because not only is it the biggest incision but the port beneath it was stitched into the abdominal wall. Anytime you injure muscle or cut flesh, it's going to hurt. I really wouldn't worry about a port flip. Try a heating pad, it might help relieve whatever pain the the meds don't. Hang in there, it will get better quickly -
Shrinking Airlines Seats

You know, I'm not sure how I would feel in that situation. I guess if she did it discreetly, like just raised his arm rest with a smile but not actually saying anything, I think I'd be thankful. If she came over making a verbal spectacle about "oh here, now you have more room" I'd be embarrassed. When I flew last winter, I was seriously terrified because of past flying experiences. The last time I'd flown before that was 13 years ago and I couldn't even fit in the seat without squishing my hips painfully in and needing a seat belt extender. It was painful and humiliating to say the least. I was SO relieved when I fit in the seats and didn't the seat belt extender anymore! I just think it's sad they're making seats smaller to cram in more passengers meanwhile the people are getting bigger. I understand the financial aspect of it all but it seems to really neglect the human aspect. -
When you're close to the Green Zone, even a fill (or unfill) as small as .1cc can make a world of difference. It's possible you still need a tiny bit more in your band but not as much as .5cc. Be patient, you'll get there.

I was going to stay out of this, but this thread is getting way too infuriating to remain silent. Nana, unless you are a licensed bariatric surgeon, you are no more an expert or infallible than anyone else on these boards. Being banded 8 years means you have had a band inside you without messing it up. Nothing more. I think most of the time, you have good information to share. However when you take the stance of arrogant, confrontational know-it-all, it negates anything and everything you say. No one will listen to you because they're too busy wishing you'd get off your unjust high horse. Just look at this thread- you have a lot of intelligent, successful bandsters coming down on you. They can't all be wrong, so if you're half as smart as you'd like us to believe, I'd take a long hard look at your behavior before you dig yourself any deeper into that hole you're standing in. -

Congratulations! You look GREAT!! -
I tried one near me and didn't care for it either. I felt like it was just a bunch of people whining about all the ways they messed up but weren't looking for advice, they were looking for someone to coddle them and tell them it's ok to screw up. Really, it was just one big "oh poor me" b*tch fest with nothing constructive going on. This is now my support group
