Lap Band prior to first fill

It is very normal, however the band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. Have a look at this link. http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

    Struggling

It is very normal to feel how you are. A lot of us go through a "food mourning" because we realize we have to give up the old habits that led us to get obese. Food is often our comfort, or our source of happiness, or even way to stuff our feelings away. We realize that in order to be successful with the band we have to give those behaviors up- and we get sad and even angry because of it. I can only speak for myself, but I can't tell you how happy I am since giving up those unhealthy behaviors and losing weight with my band. I will take my life now over my life of binging and emotional eating a million times over. Hang in there, you can do this, just be patient with yourself while you adjust to these changes.

    sweet tooth?

Honestly, if I am REALLY craving something sweet and haven't had any treats in awhile, I just have a little bit of what I'm craving. So if I'm craving chocolate, I'll have a single candy bar and just count the calories towards my daily total. Again, it's not a regular thing. I'd say I do it about once a month. I just firmly believe the band is about moderation not deprivation so if I really want something- I have it.

    Clear liquids/protein supplements?

I always just used skim milk. One cup of skim milk plus one scoop of Unjury is 28g of Protein so it's great for that, too.

    Help

Yes, it is normal, because the band isn't meant to physically force you to stop eating. It'll tell you that you've had enough, but if you want to ignore it when it tells you that you're no longer hungry and keep eating, then you can. Have a look at this link: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

    advice needed: getting rings resized

Personally, I would wait until you're sure your fingers aren't going to shrink anymore. Every time you get it sized, it weakens the integrity of the band itself because they have to cut and weld it to do it. It's best to have to size rings sparingly. My ring size has dropped from an 8 to a 5 1/2. I can't even wear my size 8 rings on middle finger because even my middle finger is a size 7.

    What Mushies Are You Eating?

When I was on mushy food, I loved chili put through the blender with some cream cheese. Tasty and filling!

Without going into too much detail... get your freak on. The band can take it, trust me. *grins*

Ohhh ok, that makes sense! Perhaps you can add a blurb in your signature line saying when you had surgery? That's what I did.

    Night Cough

Yes give your doctor a call. Night cough and reflux are very common signs of a band too tight. A tiny amount removed, even as small .1cc, could potentially take care of the problem while allowing you to stay in the Green Zone.

    Countdown ticker

Hmmm, do you have to add a date? Can you just add your top weight, current weight, and goal weight? Then it would show the loss regardless of how long ago it was.

    7ccs and still hungry!

Yes, and if you can't go longer periods of time without hunger, then you might still need more Fluid in your band. But I was addressing where you said "but I can still eat way to much". It's a big mistake and misconception that the band is going to physically stop you from over eating. It will tell you "oh hey, I've had enough to eat" but if you choose to ignore it and keep eating, you can. Too many people end up with their bands too tight, and complications because of it, from expecting the band to do things it's not supposed to do.

    caloric intake

When I was eating less than 1000 calories a day, my weight loss stalled considerably. I increased my calories to 1200 a day and it definitely became quicker and more consistent. Sometimes our metabolism needs more food to lose. I know it sounds crazy, but if you're eating too little it can make your metabolism sluggish. Considering your strenuous work out schedule, I'd be willing to bet the calorie increase is necessary. Good luck!

    7ccs and still hungry!

The fact you're still able to eat more doesn't mean the band isn't working. The band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. There is a saying around here "just because you can eat it doesn't mean you should". It is your job to stick to band sized portions. The band is there to control your hunger and tell you when you've had enough- not force you to do anything including stop eating Here's a link that might help: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

    Clear liquids/protein supplements?

I used Unjury, but my protein shake didn't have to be clear. Everything else did though.

    Will this work for me?

I can only speak for me but maybe it'll apply to you. When I was dieting, I was always hungry and felt deprived. Eventually I'd reach a point of "screw this" and go on a crazy eating spree. Now, with my Lap Band, I'm rarely hungry and am satisfied on very little food. I don't feel deprived at all because I still eat what I love, just in moderation. Can you stick to it? Only you can answer that. If you get the Lap Band, you will have to change your eating habits to healthy ones for a lifetime. It does take commitment and work. For me, this is simply a lifestyle rather than a diet. It's not a temporary change but a lifetime one. Best wishes.

    smoking

Talk to your doctor about when it's safe because smoking not only inhibits the healing process but it also increases your risk for post surgical pneumonia and blood clots.

Thought I would be amongst people who understood...

Yeah I clicked the link and I got the Facebook pop up asking to access my information, friends list, post to my wall, etc. I closed it immediately- there is no way in hell I want that posted to my wall or spamming my friends' list.

I just coughed 6 days post op

I'm sure you're fine. Believe it or not, coughing is good and necessary after surgery. You have to get that gunk up or you risk post operative pneumonia. My best advice is to keep a pillow handy so next time you cough, you can hug the pillow tight against your tummy so it won't pull and hurt so much. Best wishes

Go for your checkups every month in year 1

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm 21 months post surgery, so almost 2 years, and I still see my surgeon monthly. Most of the time it's just a matter of answering some questions, getting weighed, some small talk, then leaving. But, there is something about that accountability knowing I'm going to be weighed in monthly that helps me stay on track. Plus, the support and encouragement of my surgeon and his staff go a very long way in keeping me motivated.
  24. My NSV of the day- easily fitting in the ridiculously tiny bathroom stalls at my son's school. I remember at my heaviest, I literally had to hold it because I couldn't fit in them to go.

No Urge To Urinate After Surgery

I think seeing a doc about it is wise, then. It's definitely normal after surgery.
