    21st birthday

Check with your surgeon. If you do, be aware, it will hit you FAR faster than pre-surgery.
  2. You would have to be very careful eating as you will still be getting used to solid foods. Any foods you haven't tried since surgery can have sudden unpleasant side effects. Then again, a good opportunity to focus on all the activities, rather than food. It might actually be very liberating to NOT be ruled by food. Depends on how you look at it.

    Drain

ME TOO!! Pain, no biggie, but I pass out anytime I get grossed out. Since I live alone, I was terrified I'd pass out every time I had to empty or clean around the drains. Guess what?? I didn't, not even a little, really wasn't gross at all, PHEW!! Though, just to be safe, the first time I had to clean around them, I laid down on the bed to do it, lol!! And I made sure to have them let me drain them, while still in the hospital, to make sure I could AND stay conscious, lol! You'll be fine, I'm sure. If I can do it, ANYONE can!

oops, that's what I meant. I had the drains for my tt/panni not for the sleeve.

    Drain

Drains are not as bad as you think. I was terrified, but it is neither as gross, or as inconvenient as I thought. Was still glad when they were out though! I have heard of serious Fluid build up without a drain, IMHO, having a drain is better.

    Higher BMI with vsg

With a higher BMI, you will lose weight faster in the beginning, then you will need to work harder as you lose. Higher body weight=more calories burned, so as you lose you need to increase calorie burn and continue to follow the plan. My BMI was 50, within a year I was at goal, so it can be done.

Dr KindaFamiliar will be available to answer your questions...

Hi TheRealMeIsHere, Just one question - What the absolute f*ck??!?! If you're pooping out staples, I hope that you've at least been eating them!!! If you've not, you really do have some problems... Unfortunately, I know of no solution to your problem (you freak!!).. I can, however, think of a practical solution - If you have some sort of 'control' along with a VERY good aim, you could possibly get yourself a job at some sort of magazine printing establishment. I can see you now, squatting over the new edition of 'The Watchtower' or 'Hustler' (this is a very sad reflection of my youth), aiming carefully and theeeeennnnnnnn - RELEASE!! Of course, you'll need to keep your energy up. And you may also need to invest in some arse cream... As it happens, I have some left over from a previous experiment, which shall remain unnamed.. Look at me go... Solving the world's problems one freakshow at a time... NEXT!!!!! I could use a new vocation, thanks for the suggestion, LMFAO!!

    Does anyone dance for exercise?

    You crack me up!!
  19. I used to do JUST cardio, at home. Treadmill & recumbant bike. I got so incredibly burnt out, I hit a wall & HATED it so much! It just felt daunting. I worked with a physical therapist, as I have many disabling conditions, to find a routine that included more strength training and would not cause injury. The result is I now LOVE my routine! I do 10 minutes each bike & treadmill along with various exercises with dumbbells, step and Therabands. I can change up the order, depending on my mood and strength training is fun, it makes me feel strong and powerful in more ways than physically.
  20. Can't believe they approved this! It's like medically assisted and condoned bulimia. There is the warning that people without eating disorders should not get it. As someone who's dealt with anorexia & bulimia, I say where there's a will, there's a way. If someone goes to a doctor that's not familiar with their history.........

    Major gas

Is it possible you have IBS or lactose intolerance or any other digestive disorder? Are you eating carbs like bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, starchy veggies, fruits, flour or sugar? Those things ferment and cause gas. Just throwing out some things to consider.
  22. at that point, I couldn't handle much more than that either and was TERRIFIED of stretching my stomach. It happens some on it's own with time, I just didn't want to give it any help, lol! The key is to eat more often. Do you supplement with Protein shakes? I used the EAS AdvantEdge and could only do half at one time. I'd put it in the fridge and finish later. I probably had a protein every 2 hours. I still wasn't hitting my goal, but I did my best, it's all you can do. Remember the rule of keeping liquids to a half hour before & after. Chewing VERY thoroughly helps, too. And don't fill that tiny tummy with anything that doesn't help you reach that protein goal. You are just beginning, it's a journey.
  23. @@kelwilliams You sound a lot like how I was at that point. My Protein goal was 80 gms per day, took me 18 months of eating ONLY lean/low fat/fat free protein sources to hit that goal. My NUT told me to eat NOTHING that wasn't a high source of protein, get as much calorie free liquid in as possible and take my Vitamins daily. I was allowed NO veggies or fruits and, of course, no flour, sugar, rice, Pasta, potatoes, bread, etc... Maybe soft things will be easier; protein puddings, fat free Greek yogurt, egg beaters or whites, etc... Here are some recipes: https://ormcbariatric.wordpress.com/2012/08/22/thank-you-to-de/ and here: https://ormcbariatric.wordpress.com/2013/01/07/high-protein-yummy-great-recipes/ It takes time to heal, just follow your NUT's instructions. Remember, you have a large incision up the side of your stomach that is healing, you may have a lot of swelling, too. It gets better.
