  1. Now two days post-op and almost 12 hours without hiccups! Todays problem seems to be how to get all the protein in. I am a guy and was told I need 70-80 grams of protein. I have the Isopure and it will give me 40grams if I can drink the whole bottle. With the nothing to drink 30 minutes before a meal, during a meal and 30 minutes after, and the no more than 4 ounces of liquid an hour I don't see how I can do it. Any ideas?"

    Won't sleeve me...

I have been able to crush the Abilify, but not the Cymbalta. I need to call my psych tomorrow and see what he says.

    Talking to your kids?

I have a four year old granddaughter who is with us 4 days a week. My wife explained the whole procedure to her, how the doctor was going to do an operation to make Grandpa get skinny. The night before the surgery she told me, no more popsicles Yampa. You are going to get skinny so we can play soccer. She visited me in the hospital and the IV and monitors seemed to scare her a little bit, she wouldn't come and sit on the bed with me. My biggest problem is my wife, she has been losing weight steadily over the past year by diet and it down 75 pounds, but is afraid to eat in front of me. Now our kids are afraid she is going to become anorexic!
  5. Most insurances require that you have 6 consecutive months of a doctor supervised weight loss attempt. That means that your doctor documents it in your chart each and every month that you are working on losing weight. I think that it has to be in the past year also to count. Once you actually start to do all the requirements it seems like almost a full-time job, but stick with it and you won't regret it. Good luck.

    Won't sleeve me...

I am bi-polar also and very stable. On Abilify and Cymbalta. The first doctor I went to said a flat-out no, saying a Bi-Polar person could never handle a band or sleeve. After leaving his office practically in tears my wife and I decided that that was the end of the road. I talked it over with both my psychiatrist and my primary care and they both disagreed with that surgeon. I waited a couple of years and tried again with anothr surgeon. I saw his psychologist and he said he saw no reason whatsoever I wouldn'/t be successful. Well to make a long story short I was sleeved 3 days ago and so far I couldn't be happier. Try another surgeon! Good Luck.

    Hiccups

Had the surgery last night at 6pm. Have had the hiccups off and on all day today. The last spell lasted 2 hours. Is VERY painful. I was doing fine with no pain meds until the hiccups started. I asked the doctor about it when he came in to discharge me and he just said to take the Lortab. Well, it doesn't hurt as much, but the hiccups are very annoying and I can't take Lortab forever. Anybody else have this problem?
