  1. I was at work today and they had a bake sale in the break room. I sat there and ate my chicken salad. It was hard to pass up some of the sweets of course there were some of my favorite ones there. I know it was the sweets that got me to the over weight stage but I have will power most the time. How do you get through foods that are so hard to pass up???

    How To Through Triggers

Yes I know if you don't have some things you crave it will end up bad. I have a little here and there but for the most part I am on target with diet. I do say I love my band because it doesn't allow me for much of the foods I love. I realize getting stuck with bad foods isn't fun!

What Was Your " Ah Ha" Moment?

I lost my dad four years ago to brain cancer. I ate to cope with the loss. The weight kept packing on. I didn't realize how I had gained. I stand all day for my job and my left ankle kept really swelling so I went to my doc. We tryed lots of different things to help the swelling and they didnt help. I think he was embarressed to tell me it was my weight. He was my fahters doc so he had been through all that with us so he was close. I said to him is it because I am fat and he said it might have some to do with it. My sister is an er nurse and she told me if it is my left ankle it has to do with my heart and that scared me so I got ahold if my doc. He sent me to my surgeon for a consultation. My surgeon wanted me to do gastric and I told him no but I would do lap band. We sent it in and I was approved right away and here I am with 65 gone already!
  4. It is not the easy way out for sure. I was banded 12/19/11 and its taken me this long to realize that my life will never be the same. I know that sounds stupid but I can actually fully understand it now. There will be foods I will never eat again. Sometimes just that is hard because I didn't get overweight not liking food. Its like someone took my best friend away. This is a physical journey and as well as a mental one. I have come to terms with a lot of it. I am almost 6 months out and have had to change my lifestyle. Not focus my life around food. I guess it still does focus on food just in such a better way. Eating better and being active. It has made me a better person with getting a better attitude with myself. I have lost 65 lbs so far and definitely not done. But for anyone saying we took the easy way out let them walk in our shoes for a week and see if they still say it's the easy way out. I bet they wouldn't say that again! God bless!
  5. I am excited to say I have lost 65 lbs and slowly but surely gonna reach that 100 lb mark. I was banded Dec 19th 2011. It hasn't been an easy journey but so worth it!

    Disappointed And Frustrated

My surgeon uses the nutritionist and him as a team. I see my surgeon once a month and my nutritionist every two weeks right now to keep myself on track. My nutritionist is free for the rest of my life since I had surgery here its a package deal. Since it is free I really take advantage of it. The thing I am working on now is making sure I am exercising.
  11. I haven't tried pineapple juice. I am going to buy some and give it a try when I get the stuck feeling. I have only tried tiny sips of water and rode it out. I haven't had a stuck for a while. I have been trying to really chew to make sure of that.

    Anyone From Montana?

Wow June 25th that is exciting. I had my surgery on Dec 19th of 2011. It is so worth it. I am down 65 lbs so far. I have more to go but not sure where I want to end up yet. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
  15. The more weight I lose I can feel my port stick out. I talked to my doc and he said he can put it a low profile when it gets more noticeable. He said he just numbs it and does it in the office. I hope its not a big deal to get it changed. Let me know what your doctor says and how big a deal it is to change it.

    Foreign Object

There will always be a chance the band might not for you. But life without the band probally isn't working fir you if you are considering the band. I dont feel anything except the port sometimes. You will have the port area sore for a while then it will just feel normal having it. I sometimes feel the port if I move wrong or bump it but it doesn't hurt it just lets me know its there.

    Feildtrip

I went and saw my nutritionist today and I was so happy. I lost 5 lbs in two weeks but the part I was scared for was I was sick and doctor put me on steroids to get me well. The steroids made me want to munch and munch. I also had a very sore throat so some blizzards were involved so I was happy for a 5 lb loss in two weeks. Her and I were talking and she suggested we should take a field trip to the grocery store so she can really reach me what I should be eating and not. I don't know about other people but they tell you what you should stick to for guidelines and I get to the store and sometimes get overwhelmed. I will let you all know how my fieldtrip goes!
  18. I don't think it is crazy at all. I am going to let you know this is not the easy way out. This is a journey and a tricky one sometimes. I tried many other diets and none of them worked because they were diets to me not a life style change. This is a life style change weither your ready or not. With other diets I could sneak and eat but with this it won't let me. There are foods I will almost never eat again. But for the most part they are foods I don't need. Make sure you research and make sure lapband is for you. I am telling you it's the best thing I ever did for myself! I am almost 6 months out and 65 lbs down.

    Yeah Baby!!!

Wow that is so great. If you don't mind me asking what size did you start out at? I only think in my dreams I could be a size 4 haha.
  23. I have to say with losing 60 lbs I have started to notice people treating me differently. I wonder if I hold my head higher or carry myself with more confedience. I am happily married but I do notice men looking more than they use to. I guess what I am saying I am feeling better about me and I think it is showing! Anyone else noticing things?
  24. I need to add more exercise back in my routine. It will be easier since kids get out of school for summer Thursday and I can concentrate on myself a little more again. I need to remember putting myself last got me where I was before surgery and I don't want to go back there!
