  1. WOW! Thanks everyone, there is so much variety out there. I have struggled with large calcium citrate pills getting lodged....makes me very ill feeling. The Vitamin store I went to will allow the person to return the Protein within 30 days, after reading some of these posts, I know it is not a gimic. Thank you for all the input. I have a lot to consider.
  2. I believe dumping may occur for sleevers too, but best person to ask would be NUT or Dr. It does sound like it though. I feel I have had this too. Not a pleasant feeling.

    Actigall Questions...

Hey...its my sleeve twin. I am taking this also. I was apprehensive about it because of the side effects, but I have taken it for a week and nothing major. In fact, I believe I am digesting a bit better, but that could be the healing process also. I am not pro-meds for everything, but I don't want to have future problems with my gall bladder from the excess weight loss. I have had many friends with gall stones and gall bladder problems and I would prefer to avoid that experience. I have heard from other members however that the actigall is no guarantee.

    Holy Heartburn!

I think I recall you talking about this on another thread. Best thing I have found is to not lie flat, and make sure you sit all the way up when eating. Also, I have found SF mints to help the burn. Good luck.
  5. I don't think your naive. I think you are being realistic. The hardest thing I am dealing with right now is not be able to guzzle water. I feel so dry. I have to sip sip sip all day just to feel hydrated. That part of this I do not like, but I understand things will go back to normal, right now healing is priority.

    Had My Surgery Wednesday

I hate those drugs. They knock you out, make you itch, sick to your stomach and then you can't poop. Im glad you are feeling good. I felt pretty good too, but had some bowel issues 4 days out that I was not prepared for. The good thing is that this is not common, but when it does happen to people, it is brutal. Keep in mind...liquid in....liquid out. But that will return to normal too once thicker liquids start. Congratulations and good luck.

    Another Hair Loss Question...weird?

Are you taking in enough protein? I keep hearing, reading and learning about protein and how if you don't get enough, there will be hairloss.
  8. Yecats, I would wait. I have deliberately avoided buying clothes right now. I am only 3 weeks out, but my clothes are already baggy on me. It is not only pounds you will lose, but inches too. Especially the top. I think there was a similar posting earlier but from a future bride. You will be surprised how much you lose even doing the pre-op prep. I had noticed during the pre-op phase that my bra straps were coming lose. I have had to re-adjust everything. Good luck.
  9. OMG! That is crazy that you had to go through all of that. I am glad you are okay. You could have gotten seriously seriously ill. This is definitely good information to know as I am finding I am sensitive to some foods that I wasn't sensitive to in the past. Please continue getting well.

    Issues With Gas After Surgery

I haven't felt alot of gas, but I do feel when the sleeve is full and it feels like $h*!
  11. ajbailey, I think we can eat tacos in the future, but probably not while healing. I get that full feeling very easily, which is so strange to me. I never had a full feeling before. What I did find helps is to walk, walk and walk. It helps the digestion for me. I was told no bread products at this time, they tend to lodge and swell. I miss home made tacos too.
  12. I am on my 3rd week, and am on soft/mushy. I have to do this next week also. I cheated last night with something, then drank water and vomited. I will not cheat again. Too scary. Not worth the risk. I spoke with the clinic today and am back on the right track. It is hard to sometimes limit, especially with family in the house. I have no desire to starve them. So I eat separate from them. So...for me...Coco-Wheats/Cream of Wheat, Albacore Tuna (plain), red beans and rice all mushed up, very well boiled pasta, skim milk string cheese. Water, water and more water. Oh...and lots of protein drinks.

    Wedding Advice?

I would be concerned about the dress too. It is not only pounds that you will lose. Plus the undergarments and all that hoopla. I was engaged and married within a 7 month time frame, but that was how we wanted it. I can't imagine trying to learn to eat again and trying to focus on a wedding. I think it would be possible though.
  14. Sigh...Yecats...I could write a book on this subject. I would have loved to exercise prior to this surgery, but was not able to. In fact, I have not been able to exercise for several years now, but not because of my weight. I was always on the small-skinny side when I was younger. I was not crazy about being skinny, and actually enjoyed more meat on my bones. My body has been afflicted with an inflamatory arthritis that eats the cartilage literally from my joints. I have had multiple surgeries for this and a joint replacement already. From the painful arthritis, exercise decreased for me. I was always at the gym prior to this. I would work out 3-5 days a week and never ate fast food. I cooked all my own foods, packed my own lunch and ate a balanced diet. Pain and stiff joints stopped the exercise. Pain over the long term can lead to depression. Depression can lead to overeating. I gained a lot of weight, too much for my joints and bones. Medications for my condition destroyed my bones more and premature osteopenia has set in. This was the last straw and was the reason for this surgery. Diet pills, fasting, calorie restriction, mild exercise, none of that worked enough to get me back into shape. So surgery was my option. 25 pounds have come off from my frame, along with inches. My joints hurt a lot less, and I have been on my Wii and have walked quite a bit. I love to exercise and plan on jumping back in once I get the go ahead from my surgeon. For now, I can only do walking. For me, exercise is reason to smile and be happy. The natural release of endorphins is a great happy stimulant. I hated taking diet pills, they made me agressive. I look forward to rowing, bicycling, weight lifting, swimming and just being able to jump. I didn't mind my fatness, I kind of liked some of my curves (especially the ladies up top), but I like being happy and not in pain. Sorry...that was probably more than you wanted to know, but exercise for me is a lifelong thing I have always done. I pray now that my children never have to go through this disease of joint destruction, or anyone else.
  15. Ouch. I am sorry to read this. I hope you are okay. I know I would be freaked out and worried if I fell. I would at the very least call the surgeon and ask them to advise. Good luck and keep us posted.

    Leaks

I pray I never have a leak, that would be a not so fun thing to go through...not like adjusting to this whole process is fun, but it seems like it could be a multitude of things contributing to leaks, not just non-compliance. Poor wound healing seems like a factor that would contribute. Just some thoughts. there is always risk with all surgeries anyway.

    How Long Pain After Eating?

I am just over three weeks out, so as far as long term, I can not speak to that. What i have found is if I eat wrong, I feel it. By eating wrong, I am refering to not chewing my food up enough. Or eating something that doesn't agree with me. I had this last night. I was a bit hungry, ate, but didn't chew enough. Then foolishly drank Water after. The reaction? Vomited. Up came the water followed by the undigested half chewed food. Today I am still a bit irritated in my esophagus after last nights regurg-fest. I made a scrambled egg with some cheese, and it sat for quite a while. I don't want to call it so much as pain for me as it is a very very uncomfortable feeling of food lodged there. Great topic.
  18. I ate either too fast or something that didn't sit well with me. I drank some water and up it came, then up came the food. I felt a tug, has anyone else had this experience?
  19. Hey Sunshine....how are you doing? Is your hunger better?

    Breast Loss

Oh Lordy....I noticed my girls shrunk a bit too...and with the pre-op diet. I hope I don't lose the entire amount. I liked my D's.

Not Sure If I Should Have Skin Removal

I can completely relate to what you are saying about the excess skin, except, I am only almost 3 weeks out. I have three kids, all c-section also with one pregnancy being twins. So I compltely understand. I am much older though. I won't impart advice on you because you have to live your life for you. What I will say is this...you never know what is going to happen 10 or 20 years from now. You only have today,

    Post-op Gallbladder Issues

Oddly enough, my surgeon didn't remove my gallbladder either. I was told it is a very pretty gall bladder. I was put on medicine though to keep it that way while the rapid weight loss occurs. I would rather keep mine.
