Unable To Keep Down "real Foods"

I have a total of 4cc in a 10cc band & since having the last 1 1/2 cc in I too can only live on protein drinks, yogurt, c.cheese, & soup. If I try "regular food" it gets stuck & the only relief is spitting up & out the "slime". I dont see the dr. for 3 more weeks but I think I'm going to ask him to take out the 1 1/2 cc and just deal with "dieting" instead of taking the chance of screwing up my stomach, etc. I try to eat slowly but maybe not slow enough.

    Breakfast Ideas & Help

    protein drink to go
  3. You'll swear that you'll never get stuck but I think it happens to all of us. I have the pain & sometimes I get the hiccups afterwards. I wouldnt be having crackers at this point. You've got a month or so of healing to go.

Not Losing Much Need Help Before I Go Crazy

I too can become discouraged over the slow weight loss. But I so have to tell myself that today is today & I will do my best today. Yesterday is gone my dear & tomorrow hasn't shown itself yet. So for today - enjoy you .
  5. Where ever you think there will be a decrease, I'd measure it. I'm seeing & feeling clothes fitting better so I wish that I would have taken true measurements. All I can go off is weight & clothing size. It's all good.
  6. Does anyone have this sound coming from their throat or chest? It seems to gurgle when I've swallowed something too big or drank something too fast. Anyone else? What the crzy is this? Am I expanding the stoma or anything?

    Calories Or Cups?

I was banded on 12-29 and have been eating between 600 to 1100 in calories per day. Lost 20lbs in the first 6 1/2 weeks. Pound up or down for the last 6 1/2 weeks. I see where people list what they've eaten for the day & it seems like it is so much less than what I've eaten. I can eat 1/2 to 1 cup of greek yogurt for Breakfast or cottage cheese, Soup, etc but others list "I can only eat a few bites" or 1/4 cup of whatever. I do measure all my food so I'm just concerned that I'm eating too much volume instead of watching my calories like I've been doing. Had 3cc in band from surgery & I requested a fill last week since I could eat pretty much anything. Now have 4 1/2 ccs and am eating softer foods for a few more days. Opinions?

    Calories Or Cups?

Thank you both, I was so concerned that the volume of cups need to be super small. Also I do eat alot of softer food so that might play into the larger cup size too. I'll keep in mind the oz weight when I eat solid protein. Really havent done any solid protein except fish. I think this fill has me on soft for awhile too.

How Many Cc's In Your Band???

Had 3 cc's in my band from surgery & now 2 1/2 months later first fill of 1 1/2 cc's. Hopefully I'll start filling full instead of hungry all the time.

How Many Cc's In Your Band???

I have 3cc in a 10cc band thats been there since surgery. I've seen my dr. a few times & since I've lost weight from my surgery 2months ago he just says I'll see you in another six weeks. But I've been watching my intake, not eating more than 1000 calories per day and if I'm not careful I can put on weight. I'm going to ask for a fill at my next meeting for I'm doing all the work & no help from my "tool". Can eat anything- just slowly & not swallow anything too large.

    No Easy Way Out

Can totally relate. It's in our hands and se have the power to change ourselves each & everyday. It will be okay. You are worth it.
  12. I too did not take any type of pain pills, had to go with otc pain medicine. You might be up going to the bathroom alot, but you need to get up every hr to keep those lungs clear and start feeling better. It helps to get the medicine out of your system by walking. I walked around my backyard everyday for a week for at least 10 mins every hour. When I went in for surgery I totally did not want the surgery so days afterwards the feelings were still the same. Now 2 months later, its a new life but I haven't put back on the 20lbs that I've lost & I choose good healthy meals every day. It will be worth it.

Thank you! I think we just stay the course & little by little it will come off. By now I probably would have put on some if not for the surgery-so thanks for the lift!

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Two months today from my banding, still no fills. Was told I have 3cc from the date of surgery. Have lost 20lbs total-10 the first week and the other 10 for the last 7 or so weeks. I can say its been through motivation & a awareness that I need to eat less & make good choices in everything that I eat. I have weighed myself almost daily, which I'm sure is not the best thing to do but it keeps me on track. I have literally loss & gained 3 lbs for the entire month of February. I don't see the dr. till the end of March, so I'm hoping that the extra exercise will make a difference. 600-1000 calories a day is kind of scary to know that's what I'll need to stay at to lose or maintain. I exercise almost everyday and have a fitbit to monitor my steps per day too. The only difference between pre surgery & today is that I have to eat slower & not swallow too large a bite or it will get stuck. Looking forward to March & what it may bring. Good luck December bandsters & carry on!
  17. I was banded on 12/29 and lost 10lbs the first week.I've lost 9 more lbs in the last six weeks by self control & stopping when I've hit a cup of food not when I feel anywhere "full". I've seen my Dr three times & said I'll see you in another six weeks, I think he's happy with the loss but I too would rather have the band step it up and keep me full and not thinking about food for 3-4 hours. I asked the nurse how much fill was in me from the surgery and she said 3cc. I know that I cannot eat too fast or swallow too large an item or it will cause me issues. As far as eating any, I've had no problems. I do eat more soft foods than what I should eat-yogurt, cottage cheese, and soup. I read what others eat & I seem to eat much more but I still stay between 700-1000 calories per day. I guess I'll see how the next six weeks go.

    Vegetables And Fruit

Raw cauliflower really got stuck on me
  19. I try to stay calm cause it hurts like heck. Sometimes I hiccup, I always get up and walk. And after awhile it goes away & I tell myself to slowwww down & not try to eat that item again for awhile.
  20. Never eat anything mindlessly! I'm one month post op with a little fill from the surgery and I start eating a hard boiled egg while checking my emails at work. Start eating the 2nd one & all of a sudden I've got a elephant sitting on my chest! Holy cow! I've read many times about getting stuck, eating too fast, too much, not paying attention. BUT, try this one time & it will get your attention so fast that you don't know what to do. Pain, yes, breathing, okay, walking, sure. Then the hiccups start. Never had that before! Five minutes hiding in the bathroom at work with really loud hiccups. So once again, no mindless eating for those of you like me that multi-task everything. I'm now okay, but I think I'll pass on the eggs for awhile. Don't want the hubby calling me a woofer (As in woofing down my food cause I'm hungry first thing in the morning).
  21. Three full weeks of liquid diet, 3 days of soft, & then regular food. No fill till two months from surgery date. Says he's seen it works the best for his patients. Won't argue with the man that knows best. Follow the dr's orders & if the food is too heavy you can always go backwards. Slow & steady is best.

    Average Weight Loss After Fill

For those of you with fills you are getting enough calories & nutrients a day with just a couple bits per meal? Are you only eating 3 meals a day?
  23. So glad to know that I'm not the only one eating up to 1 cup per meal. Was really concerned that I was hurting the band by putting too much food in my stomach. My fill was scheduled for the 23rd but today it was changed to the 16th since he'll be out of town. So till then 1 cup & lots of willpower. Done that a million times before on every diet!
  24. I was banded on 12-29-11, I've seen the dr but he said I had alittle fill from the surgery and to start eating regular food. Is it normal to be able to eat 1 cup of semi-solid soups? Or 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast? Seems everyone is saying 1/2 cup of protein/veggies per meal. If the food is like listed above with alittle fill I'm wondering if that is why I can do 1 cup instead? Don't see him for a month & I average now 800-900 calories per day compared to 500-800 on liquid.
