    Time off

I was told recovery can take 4-6 weeks but a lot of people are able to go back to work the 2nd or 3rd week. My work has short term disability and I'm approved for FMLA so I've put in for 6 weeks but will go back as soon as I and the Dr. feel I am able. I have a desk job. I went back after only 8 days when my lap band was removed in Feb 2017. I ended up with a big weird bubble of fluid about the size of a softball (right in my fat tummy roll when I sit) that my doctor thought was a hernia. Turns out sitting 8 hours a day was very bad. I ended up having to take 2 1/2 more weeks off to allow it to dissolve and everything to heal completely. I won't make the mistake of returning too soon again. November sleevers

Squeeeeeee it's almost time! Surgery date is on Nov. 1, 2017. My doctor had no pre-op diet other than 24 hours prior. I kind of started early by doing liquids/shakes for 2 meals a day plus one tiny real meal for the last 3 days. Tomorrow is all liquids/shakes. Good luck to all my November sisters and brothers!!! 3. Exactly! My mother died at the very young age of 51 due to a multitude of weight/obesity related issues. She missed out on seeing her grandchildren grow up and so many other wonderful moments in life. I don't want to repeat that which is why I'm doing what I can to take charge of my life. 4. I found all of these on Amazon and once I ordered them they were at my home within 48 hours. I love sweet beverages but these were way too sweet. I keep them at room temperature and pour them over ice and the melted ice waters it down perfectly. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. This right here! "I made a personal choice to follow the program because my own "program" obviously failed me before." That's going to be my philosophy! Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does it taste good?

The bariatric advantage makes me feel full but I'm doubling the liquid in a serving because I can't drink it to thick. I also got protein Waters for times I don't want a shake. I sampled them but they are mainly because for the after surgery recovery liquid diet phase. They are kind of sweet but I poured them over a full glass of ice and it Waters them down and they are fine after that. Everything could be totally different after surgery though. I have heard some say their taste buds change and the tolerance for what they can swallow. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Does it taste good?

I've never tried that kind. I use bariatric advantage. I buy the big bags for home and the packets for travel (flying). It's too thick for my liking so I mix it with water according to instructions and then add about 4-6 ounces of original unsweetened almond milk or nonfat milk if I'm at hotels without access to almond milk and a ton of ice. I also discovered it doesn't stir (dissolve) well with a spoon so I had to get a blender bottle to shake it really good for a couple minutes. I've been drinking one a day (breakfast) since my lap band was removed in Feb. 2017 In preparation for the sleeve revision and to help keep me from gaining weight in the interim. They taste pretty good. However, I'm pre-op so I hope my taste buds don't change after surgery because I've stocked up for a couple months. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

  9. I have no pre-op diet until 24 hours before surgery when I go to liquids. Then nothing after midnight before surgery. However, with that said I'm going home to California this month for my youngest daughters wedding and I'm getting a crowd together to celebrate Thanksgiving a month early. My surgery is Nov. 1 Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

  11. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the beginning of a new journey. I hope you have great success and look forward to hearing updates as the process moves along. Don't forget to get photos to document even if they are only for you. Sometimes it's hard to see the changes when your looking in a mirror every day. But when you look back at photos after 3 or 6 months you will be amazed at the changes. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Failure...

That's how I felt after lap band once I started gaining weight back. [emoji17] I would skip going in for months at a time out of shame. I hope this is just a stall and your weight loss kicks in again. This is my worst fear! My LB was removed in Feb 2017 and the sleeve will be done on Nov. 1. I'm terrified of being a failure. Daith piercing

Thanks! I'll just get a clear coat and remove it before surgery then. Glad I asked before spending a lot of money on it! Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Daith piercing

What about acrylics or gel tips on your nails! I have my daughter's wedding one week before surgery and she wanted us to get our nails and toes done together. If I can't keep my nails, I'll just get a Mani with clear coat. Thanks in advance if anyone has first-hand experience and knows the answer. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app
